man, this is honestly the best art channel in existence. I don't see a way it can get any better. So underrated
Agreed this has truly helped me
he is
Uploads more often is better, however it’s too unreasonable to ask for it due to the amount of work and effort that goes into these videos and their top level quality.
Yea, if you like this guy check out art senpai. His content is similar and really memey
True
Thanks a lot for making these High quality tutorials for free. Don't stop making them
Agreed these videos are really helpful but also funny and enjoyable to watch
@Khyper Gaming noice
so cheapskates like you can get it for free?
@@mystical9386 but you're watching this video too 🤣
yea i am watching it but i don’t ask him to keep making it
Draw like sir : * uploads a video *
Everyone : *a blessing from the lord !*
I love how you always say that it's necessary to not bite off more than you can chew and work on basics if you're struggling. A lot of art tutorials don't say it. and I think a lot of people need that reminder (including me).
I love the mix of useful advice and humor thrown in to spice things. Not to mention the skillful editing to top it all off.
Ye the editing is so good
You are the best art teacher on UA-cam. I have learning difficulties and your tutorials cater to my needs.
I agree with you bro
Man if i am about to praise your hardwork then i will be out of words.
I used to follow another channel which used to put a lot of effort in his videos ("draw it too") sadly he stopped uploading now.
I hope you don't stop...your hardwork is worth more subscribers and support.
Can you give me like Bro.
@Khyper Gaming u wanna say Pegasus?
What’s that other channel you’re talking about
@@5thkiechannel draw it too
@@gopalraoshinde158 just notifying you just to be sure you know that it was what he said
Yeah that last part really made me feel good. The part about using reference.
Ok, the Boku no Pico picture make me scream a little bit Lmao. But as per usual, thanks for all the video you put out there for us to watch and learn.
This man's editing skills are good as mango wine
Bro u've explained other videos well but this one's the best. As in you've helped me understand drawing from memory and imagination and some people confused the two, me too.
U r the hero no one asked for but everyone deserves
I love drawing and story writing so much because my imagination is INCREDIBLY WIDE... But sometimes my expectations are just so high that I felt anxious if I saw the result of what I've drawn.. It is not the same of what I saw from my mind... So thank you for this, Sir Marcel... (I'm weak at anatomy poses...)
Thank you so much!! I always struggle to draw from imagination and end up using references and always feel bad about it. This really helped me thank you 😄
Exactly. Take inspiration from anything. Your drawing ninjas, take inspiration from different shows or movies.
I don't speak English so I don't understand anything at all, but I have learned that I can use small sketches to draw bigger and more detailed things. After all, what I lacked is still my own style of drawing and some scene knowledge. Thank
This is absolutely perfect! (And I don't feel called out at all around the anatomy section🙈) Your life drawing on Twitch is so much fun! Wonderful job as always, Marcel. Your videos are always so super helpful!!
I love ur comment
❤
this man taught me more in 10 videos than school in 10 years
I have imagined a lot of amazing fantasy or sci-fi stuff while lying on my bed, during a meeting or driving but when I wanted transfer that idea into paper...I just couldn't. I couldn't even draw the basic shape properly.
So, I usually tend to draw random stuff out the blue or something interesting that I just saw. I also noticed that I can copy things better than create something new ones. I recently have been copying some video tutorial on how to draw the human body poses. The figures that I copied from the video looked far better than the ones that I created on my own.
I really like drawing from memory, though. There are many scenes in life that I wanted to put into paper. Most of them are very quick scenes by the roadside while I'm driving so I don't have the luxury of stopping quickly to take a photograph. Also people will get uncomfortable when we raised our phone camera at them.
I think the problem here is what i have trouble with too. You may have a great idea, but don't have a clear picture in your head of what it should look like. That's where the references and memory come into play. The more you use references, and draw specific things, the more your mind gets used to drawing it, and the more accurate your mind's "visual library" becomes. But you do need that practice and those references. Describe something to the best artist, which he has never seen, or any idea of, and ask them to draw it, and you'll likely get something which isn't really good. Ask someone to draw a brushed metal pipe, who has never seen that, and it just won't work. Ask a metalworker who sees the stuff daily, and while not as refined, he'll have a clear image in his head of what it's like and with some practice will be able to get it down on paper a lot faster than someone who's imagining what it looks like.
And as Draw Like a Sir says: don't run before you can walk. Well, it can be fun to try, and you can learn a lot from it too, but the basics will give you better progression. Even memory can be trained by that, since you can more easily remember a pose, if you have the right proportions and perspective in mind, and "just" need to fill in what you remember with things you know how to draw (be it a body, building, car, anything). In the end, everyone's copying real life (even if drawing completely random flesh monsters). If they don't, it just won't look right.
his voice is so fineee and melting🤤😭😭😭
Everyday Im hoping and praying for you to have more viewers and subscribers.. You are just too underrated
I found this video to be more based on Creativity (which is based on "weaving" and structure), rather than Imagination (which is more "Lucid" in the way it comes together in its forms of ideas.) And that's more based on personal preference than in general. Though both cross general and preference depending on if souls share common interests. My cousin and I used to argue about imagination and creativity all the time until I figured out I was more creative and he was more imaginative.
Your video qualities are definitely on the level of a SIR. Great tutorials!
Bro this guy is so underrated
You work so hard for these videos 😭😭😭
Man i love this guy channel, he's literally teaching us what we're supposed to paid for, for free. Plus simplified
I am very happy I found this channel, thank you m8!
7:45 this sequence breaks me!!
I always had a lot of resistance to using references, for fool's pride (?) or something like that. Your videos and tips helped me a lot to get through this. Thanks!!
Holy cow.....That 3 forms of drawing from "imagination" It also helped me understand something you see I'm trash at drawing from memory this is do to me have a horrible memory like i did a test I'm like in the low 10% of people in the world when it comes to memory. However I'm better at Freely drawing if i have no idea what i want to make and i make it as i go it often looks better issues is......when i start seeing what i want to make I'm guessing this is where my weak memory starts giving me issues i have to try so hard to remember what something is like and since i have Aphantasia this leads to so many issues and my drawing comes out like a 8 year old made it......Sadly not really 100% how to improve now since i guess i should do more memory based drawings i guess to bad I'm so bad at them....but from what i hear you so do what you are bad at not what you are good at so yeah.
Or use references. No hard in that. If you know your memory's your weak point, don't try to remember what to draw, but look at what to draw. With time and practice it becomes easier, but not if you train yourself to use the wrong things ;).
Not related to art, but i'm not that great in memorization either. Yet a couple of months (ok, half a year) ago i decided to learn how to solve a rubik's cube. While i'm not great at it, i am a lot better at it than when i started. I generally have no idea of which specific moves i'm doing in a certain algorithm, but my muscle memory generally does know what to do, through a LOT of repetition. The moment i start to think of: what move do i need to do in which order, it all goes haywire. Same goes with drawing. Draw an eye from memory, and it'll look wonky. Draw 1000 eyes from references and base shapes, and your mind will start drawing an eye without thinking on what exactly you're doing. Don't try to focus on the details of: i need to draw this line here to shade, then this line here to shade, but more towards: i need to shade the upper half, and let your hands and memory do the work that way. Think of the general shapes, instead of trying to remember every little line. Most people who "draw from imagination" or "draw from memory", have a vast visual library in their head, and drew certain things hundreds of times, so it comes to them without thinking of the details.
I know it might not make a lot of sense, but it's where most of my own improvement in anything comes from: repetition, references and trusting my body to do what it does without thinking of the details. Thinking of the details and every stroke, is where it starts to go wrong for most people.
Thanks for the video! It helped me realize that whenever I drew from my imagination it ends up being from memory and in the end, it felt like all my drawings looked the same even if the character was different.
8:14 FINALLY SOMEONE TO HELP ME ANSWER A QUESTION IVE BEEN SERCHING FOR SINCE I STARTED DRAWING ... I suffered with that ... Atleast until I started practicing again Im still a person who works with memory but thanks to you marshal I can brouden my horizon
one of the best art tutorial channel out there, top tier editing, VERY clear explanation. Great job
Thank you I've improved with my line work and such been drawing for four months and I've wondered if drawing with reference wasn't valid but thanks now I know I need to learn more about anatomy before picking up the pen then thinking I suck when I don't put something as good as my peers out
I’m always picturing stuff in my mind how I want it to look
And then when I actually draw it it looks like Buns.
The "Deutsch" part killed me xD
Einfach nur göttlich dein Schnitt
That boko no pico reference was just hilarious, caught me so off guard.
Man this is amazing, being able to do a tutorial on something that is nearly impossible to explain. But u did just that
the fact that he mentioned aphantasia really made me happy as one of the people who have it.
I just love how u make these amazing tutorials that to, for free! Thank u so much for spending ur time and effort into these videos! It helps a lot!
I love free drawing when designing characters. Adds a sense of mystery, as not even I necessarily know how a character will turn out
Wow man. I've been struggling with motivation to pick up a pencil again, although I've found myself watching your videos and they've been inspiring me a ton!
One of my main issues and probably what led me to putting down my pencil, was me struggling with original ideas and drawing from imagination.
I've only found you today but I'm already grateful for the time and effort you put into these videos. It's truly incredible and inspiring, thank you so much ❤
This helped me a LOT, because I just was getting frustrated because I couldn't draw most things that I imagine but now I can thanks
Thank you so much for all your videos! You do a great job and put so much time and effort into making us understand it all in a simple and fun way. Keep up the good work!
Well I do it differently.
The catch is it only works if you are really good at picturing things in your head, try putting at much details needed for your purpose. Like if you are drawing landscape, how many tress? What is the shape of the mountain? That stuff, really try to picture it. And then slam your head on the paper or iPad and it usually work out for me 👍🏻
Nice to see your channels coming along, growing nicely. you deserve it man.
I don't see in youtube art Channel like you so amazing job👍👍👍
Your editing skills are POGGERS
as a person who always draw from my imagination, it honesty help me to relieved my stress, like no pressure just pleasure. i watched lots of tutorials in yt and i don't usually practice i just overthink my arts improve every month 😊💞
as someone with Aphantasia the thumbnail sketches is absolutely crucial to do anything. Simply because I can't even see the creative ideas I have and even still it's so incredibly frustrating when I can't even access my "visual library" No matter how many years of learning I have under my belt. Definitely makes me feel that I am terrible artist as a result! ;-;
Great video though! Even if I have to figure something out differently than everyone else!
This vido whas EPIK!!! like all of your vidos! I dont even think you need skillshare because we have you! Thanks man. 🥰🥰
words cannot describe how much I love you and your work
Herr Marcel.. Channel is amazing.. Love everything about it. Keep up and good health to you..
Thank you so much for these art tutorials, since I’ve started watching they have really helped me out.
you are the best artist I ever seen
So good! What you had to say about anatomy and references is so true.
from a guy who's imagination is packed to the brim with anime destruction scenes, what-if animations,OCs and concepts. this kinda helps
I'm binge watching your videos and i can't think of a way your channel could get any better. Honestly its exactly what i was looking for. Theyre simple, straight to the point and the comedy is gold keep it up 😌❤
We are all lucky you make these videos because you cover everything and even things that may not seem important but when you add them it makes a huge difference 🤩
nice as always :) you were so cute at the end saying that we don't actually have to feel pressured to support! :D
You are always referencing! Even 3D modelling you’re studying similar objects directions lighting etc referencing is so important for all art forms!
I wanted to start drawing manga and this is really helpful thank you
I wanted to thank you 🙏 I have been struggling with getting what I see on the paper. It has been so hard. You really helped. Thank you so much
top notch tutorials sir! All your tutorials are great and entertaining to watch!
I'm getting into drawing again. Looking forward to using your tips for my artwork!
Love the tutorials ,they've helped me improve a lot , would love for you to make one on drawing mouths , I've been having trouble trying to draw them properly
Always good to see another video from you!
My favourite art channel!
A good tip on learning stuff to draw, is by finding artworks that you like and redrawing it yourself… just for practice so you can gain more insight on how it’s done.
Also, if you want to learn how to draw specifics… get a bunch of references you like first, save them, and start drawing those by studying how each line connects to form the final result. The trick with drawing, is learning how to draw the shapes… connect shapes, and instinctually.. recreate them in appealing forms.
dude your way of presentation is dope eye catching even without showing your face. love your videos
Please do one on timeline of what to study for art!!
I dont remember what video it was or when I watched it but now whenever I watch one of his videos I can only think of him saying a joke about his accent that was something along the lines of "Hopefully I no longer sound like I am about to invade Poland." Like that was so funny and took me off guard out of nowhere lmao
great vid btw
bro...I've watched most of your videos and like you have helped my art career so much ❤ thanks :)
You, my friend, have opened my eyes. You made me realise that the biggest flex wasn't drawing from memory but the finished product itself.
Thanks bro
YOOOOOOO I GOT THE HEART
WOO, YEAH BABY! THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
I love your vids! You're one of my favorite drawing channels to watch 😀👍
as a newfound artist with aphantasia this and alot of your earlier videos really helped me start off keep up the good qaulity
Man you’re amazing 😭😭 that was really big problem for me thanks ♥︎♥︎
10:51 I couldn't help laughing 😂
Jokes aside, your content is... irreplaceable
TY, you have great videos. I am watching all your tutorials now
Thanks a lot man, this lesson is very helpful and it made me understand a lot of things about drawing.. I hope you the best in your videos
The commedic timing in your editing is SO on point! Also great lessons :)
As a guy with aphantasia i can confirm that this is one of the most useful tutorials i have watched
I worked on one artwork for 5 months, basically only focused on detailing it for 5 months so now I'm a bit rusty in the rest of the departments 💀, this vid is a bit helpful
If there was best artist UA-cam award u would definitely get it u should at least get like 6 million subscribers
Thank you for emphasizing that reference isn't bad. The imagination is the setting and poses, the concept as it were, but anything else is from the memories you have, influences you have and references you have. You can't really draw an engine which looks like it'd work, without first having very basic knowledge of what an engine would look like. Even just drawing a brushed metal tube, won't look good if you've never seen a brushed metal tube before, and just try to imagine what it looks like and drawing that. (something i learned very recently :D)
I think everyone who claims to purely draw from imagination, is ignoring the years of observations they've done and references they've seen, learning how to draw. Sure, some are better at it than others, and they may not realize it. But most of the finishing work, as you say, is from references and memory, building a visual library in your head to know what works and what doesn't. Else things just seem "off".
I'm trying to get better at drawing, and your videos help a lot! Thanks!
Ty for all these videos they help me so much I'm seeing so much improvement in my art thx to U! Tysm!!💖
Anything you say?,you don't even know how much power did you just give me

I feel like when you watch his videos and then go to draw it's like BOOM ART SKILLS HAVE IMPROVED! just by watching a small but very well done tutorial. Good job with all the hard work you put in your videos ^-^
That aot fanart reminds me of a fate/stay night poster (I think).
