When I was a kid, my uncle took me to Euro Disney and down into the Nautilus. I watched the Squid attack like 20 times in a row and was obsessed with it. After I made it back I was really excited to tell my parents I was on a "ship" that was attacked by a giant "starfish". For years, every time we went there I begged to go back but my parents never knew what ride I was talking about. It wasn't until, much later, as an adult working in Euro Disney, I walked past the entrance to the Nautilus and realized you could get on, that I understood that was the 'ride' I was obsessed with as a child. I had loved 20000 leagues under the sea, as a kid but a starfish attacking a ship, as my child brain remembered, was far from it, and I hadn't connected the dots Hahaha.
That kraken scarred me for LIFE 😂 i didn't know what to expect as a 6 year old do i sat there first row 🥴🥴 now because of that i have a phobia of statues and animatronics under water... but i'm still super intrigued by them it's so weird!
Omg, I have been on a wormhole lately trying to figure out where I had seen that giant octopus that scarred me for life. When I was little I traveled around the 3 western Disney parks (US and Paris) with my family and I couldn't figure out why I remembered something that closed way before I even visited the parks. I finally realize now that my childhood memory is actually from Paris! Can't wait to go back and not be so afraid anymore.
@Ian Turner yeah I learned that growing up when I read the book. Back in the 90's tough, I just remembered a starfish looking beeck.
Me too, I went when I was 4 and it scarred me for a couple weeks. I remember crying over that damn octopus or whatever it was and then immediately after, we went to some toy story restaurant I was obsessed with.
Same !! i got obsessed with it but i was so little i couldnt remember where i saw that and thought it was an animation at an aquarium for ages !
I LOVED Captain Nemo's Nautilus and "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" when I was a little child. Glad to know that kids today will get to enjoy the same thrill I had so many, many years ago.
sorry to bring bad news but of course disney got rid on the kraken lighting crew voices and captain nemo since then, now it's just a couple a screens with distant sharks and whales
Fun fact: The kraken isnt actually underwater. The window is double layered with water in the middle and they blow bubbles into it to give the illusion of water. The squid is 100% dry.
was the kraken a robot or just a screen?
But...aren't we underwater when we go in thé submarine?
Like the submarine is submerged
@@D3dcrypt0r disney secrets 🤣
@@D3dcrypt0rit’s acc just a decor item! Like it’s got a top part like a submarine that goes into concrete
Stunning piece of work.
That was cool!
It looked and sounded like you were the only one in the submarine by yourself, were you?
Thank you Harper Goff you are an inspiration
I went here once and I sat and watched the giant
Squid open up over and over. So cool
Meeeeeeen when i Saw the kraken on the video i remember a very Big momento of muy childhood
Went on this as a child, animatronic still gives me the creeps.
Wow! Too cool and SO CLASSIC! Can't wait to go but if i never do i can rest easy thanks to you. Aloha!
Man I wanted to do this so bad when I was a kid, too bad it was closed when I went. Luckily there are videos like this
Great video; thanks for sharing this one!
I remember going inside there with my parents and looked out of the window out of curiosity.
Didn't expect anything to happen *but the kraken oh boy*
did I run out of there fast
Same 😂😂 i went from first row to outside reaaal quick!
But i've found out only a couple months ago that the kraken isn't actually under water?! It's in like a big, black room 🤯 still thinking about it gives me the creeps tho 🙈
It's not a Kraken, it's a giant squid.
@@jimbodeek the kraken IS a giant squid, smart one.
I was so scared but loved the kraken SO much as a kid, it really ignited one of my lifelong love & fear of thalassophobia and i would spend ages looking at it. Im so sad they replaced it with screens instead because unlike the squid you can tell they arent real, because they dont have the same perspective and scale :[ and i am an animal lover but nothing beats a huge terrifying sea monster
nice vid! a bit disappointing that the audio wasn't playing at the craken's window though.
It was. Also that's not a Kraken, that's the giant squid from the movie
@@Luci_the_Demon A giant squid is also called a craken
@@Rafa1589 Kraken*
Further note, the Kraken was not real, nor is there evidence it ever existed. Most likely it was sightings of washed up squids as the giant squid doesn't visit the surface often, if at all
@@Luci_the_Demon sure thing
Great illusion!
Does this still exist?
Yup
@@OfficialDJWolve not he kraken tho, removed
The organ music, sounds like the Oregan music in the hunted mansion
Claudia Urcid spell check Claudia for godsake the hunted mansion is CLOSED
@@petebailey6977 Remember, for God sake, not all people speak perfect English, evident from you. :)
Claudia Urcid the actual movie prop organ from the movie IS the same organ in the Disneyland Haunted mansion!!
HOW COOL IS THAT??!!
cool cool 😀😀
I went on it when I was 5 and this ride is the reason I have thalasaphobia
Ça marche sous l'eau ou reste immobile? / Does it go under water or it stays only?
C'est pas sous l'eau en réalité
@@justmrcrow Comment ça ?
@@vzy8354 C'est qu'une illusion de lumières, on voit bien que le calamar n'est pas sous l'eau
@@justmrcrow ouais ouais on voit bien... C'est pour ça que je suis tombé dans le panneau depuis 2009 🥲
@@vzy8354 RiP
Mr Squidward?
Is this still there?
Yes, but the ride looks completely different now, unfortunately worse - they’ve removed most of the effects😢
🌊キャプテン・ネモ🌊
🌊海底二万マイル🌊
I don't speak french (no offense if you can actually speak French)
I went there last week, why was it closed?
I don't like the Kraken.
♡
This used to terrify me when I was little because I thought it was real but now looking at this vid it just looks like video game graphics lol
Kraken was probably the highlight of the thing.
The Nautilus is REAL. It is also the yellow submarine, which is also an ELO submarine. And I'll be damned if it ain't the Tardis, too. Go figure. GOD is cool like that!
is that tttthhheeee
sub!🤔
Mr and Mrs, here is the reason of my thalassophobia. I visited the place when I was 5 and this monster stayed in my nightmare until now. This is the reason why I can't put one finger in ocean
See that small bed? God don't sleep. It's probably like that on the real one. Disney was into the mystical details.
