You can tell Ed came from religion. He says," science doesn't know this thing so let me stick... well I'm not religious, so let's stick WOO into that gap". Woo of the Gaps. LOL
Our closet prime ape relatives are the common chimp and Bonobos. Bonobos are highly sexual and very peaceful. I think early humans were more like bonobos in how we kept everything peaceful.
That's a nice story about matriarchal systems, but Dr Ian Hodder's fairly recent work at Çatal Höyük would indicate that patriarchal social systems were practised in Anatolia during the Neolithic period. The Bronze Age as the dawn of Patriarchy sounds nice, but appears to be nothing but a likely story (hence, quite unlikely).
No they're not. They spoke related but different languages and had seperate cultures and religion. That's like saying Ukrainians and Russians are the same people.
Is Margaret Barker the only scholar who says the Hebrew goddess' name was Asheratah, not Asherah? Everyone assumes she was Asherah the consort of YHWH, interpreting the "-tah" as meaning "his" as in "YHWH's Asherah" - but that would be an unusual grammatical construction, according to Barker. She argues instead that her name was Asheratah, and that she was the consort of El, and therefore the mother of YHWH. That makes more sense of the evidence, in my opinion. It also makes more sense of Mary veneration in the early Church. Jesus was understood to be the incarnation of YHWH, whose father is El. Mary said of herself, "all generations will call me blessed". The Hebrew name Asher means "blessed", and Asherah could be a female form of Asher. I don't know how "Asheratah" makes a difference in this speculation, only that Barker seems to think it's important.
Dr. James DeMeo says there’s creative energy all around us. It’s EVERYWHERE. It’s not a bearded sky daddy it’s just energy. Please look him up! I’m an edible and 2 glasses of wine in and I’m losing my ability to spell big words.lol😅
Matriarchy is also found in the animal kingdom. Elephants have a Matriarch leading the group. The males form bachelor groups, and will only come into the group to mate. Lionesses as well.
Wow, great interview--interesting guest and topic, especially the subject of matriarchal versus patriarchal cultures.
We must bring back Asherism where one of the holy rituals is to smoke weed
And I can hear Dr Dan right now saying, "Alright. Let's see it."
Dang it! I missed it!😢 I love Ed Dodge! He has validated what I’ve been saying for almost 20 years!!
For someone that is converting to Judaism, specifically the reform movement, hearing Ed talk about ancient Israelite beliefs was absolutely fantastic
Damn! I was sort of getting a kick out of running around with my pants off... and now Derreck wants me to keep them on ...😢
great conversation - thank you guys
Just cos we don't know what's going on doesn't mean it's God! Mr. Dodge believes in what is known as fantasy.
I’m a complete naturalist! I still love Ed!
I’ve tripped on acid a couple times…I like to think that it broadened my insight.

If you and Dodge are going to be there, I’ll be in good company!❤

Managed to produce a take on Israelite history that is just as nuts, or crazier, than fundamentalist literalist Protestants.
Are people conscious without a functioning brain? 😉👍👍Derek

Dude- you've got to listen to the podcast, "The Ancient Tradition"...shows how true Christianity is polytheistic...ish...
I’m so F’ing mad I missed this!!!?
Matriarchy is NOT a Mirror image of patriarchy! Speaking as a mother I love my son just as much as my daughters! I would NEVER subjugate my son!
I stand corrected.

I like the part where matriarchy didn’t seem to have governments and the population was freer
Come on guys, everyone one knows dark matter is just Nibblers shit ;)
This was good, until Charley showed up - then it was great
