  • Ready Player One Reaction is today's video! Join me as I watch Ready Player One for the first time and enjoy every second of it! This movie had so many Easter Eggs in it that I lost count of all the ones that I know. This Movie, for me, was one of the best action movies I could ask for as a single movie on it's own!
James Halliday designs a virtual reality and hides the keys to his fortune in it for a worthy player to find after his death. Wade, a teenager, sets out on a quest to find the keys and the fortune.

It seems to me if your old enough to get all the pop culture references then you'll like it, if not then you won't. Like the Shining part for example, if you've never watched the movie then that whole part will sort of fall flat. I'm 39 so It's just right for me. Honestly though they should have just called it 'Easter Egg' cause this movie is full of them from beginning to end.😄 I would say this movie is definitely in my top 10 fav. movies of all time.
Also congrats on 30K subs, you totally deserve it. 🥳🤗

I loved the retro stuff in the book, and it was fun. But it had some flaws. Character issues... I enjoyed it, but personally I didn't think it was all that well written. I actually think the movie improved on a lot those issues. Still not a perfect movie, but some of the things they changed just wouldn't have been enjoyable in a movie. Not sure what is going to happen next, as the second book wasn't good at all... IMHO

Everyone comments about Sorento picking Superman in a business suit for his avatar, which I think misses the point. Sorento doesn't care enough about the Oasis to pick his own avatar, he's got people for that. I think whatever intern he delegated the task to decided to give him an avatar with the face of the con man Captain Lincoln F. Sternn from the Heavy Metal comic book and movie as a joke, who looks enough like Superman that Sorento couldn't tell the difference.

    "She's so pretty though!"
That's exactly my problem with her as a character. I love Ready Player One, don't get me wrong, but when they have this character who is scarred, disfigured or has an unattractive birthmark and then they just give them slight skin discoloration that lots of people actually find attractive... it's chickening out in a major way. Why are they afraid to have a leading lady who doesn't look perfect?

    • @benq7593

The latter in terms of an individual who makes a living in a virtual realm to find an elusive item given to the creator of this virtual space (The Oasis), but must go up against a villain who runs the company after the original creator died. Whereas the main character finds a love interest and together must stop this said villain who is tough in this virtual space, but is a total coward with only his own resources when confronted in real-life.

What's crazy is with virtual coin being a real thing, I can totally see the Oasis being a real thing. Like franchises buying into a multiverse virtual platform like those minecraft servers where you can pick and choose your game with cross gaming unlocks as you level and earn bit coin or something.
Though server limitations are still a thing, but with Netflix and Amazon constantly adding storage facilities for their servers and technology ramping up the way it is, it totally could be a thing in a few years.

The end is actually way better than the book (in my opinion) but the middle is so much superior in the book to me. The way he gets the extra live, the way he intentionally infiltrates IOI (by getting captured) to get the shield down...
And yes, this is actually based on a book

The movie and the book are pretty good and vastly different as well. Not sure which one I like more.
