Considering that some retailers have stated that the cancelations are a result of "inventory issues", it doesn't seem particularly likely that it's because of leaks. It's most likely either very high demand, a lack of physical copies, or both.

Why would a company admit that it doesn't trust its employees to not leak the game or ship them out early? This is what they MEAN when they say inventory issues, just like how every Nintendo update does something other than "stability"
Game has been touted as one of the best games ever made for 20 years. Thing is going to sell. I don’t even think it’s a cult classic. It’s just a classic.

It’s literally one of the most overrated video games of all time it’s one of the most mid most cringe/worst games. It will never be better than any Mario game. It’s the original overrated Mario game Screw this game. I hope it gets in some controversy.

I hope this means we finally get a worthy sequel to TTYD. It's about time they make a Paper Mario as good as this one again.
I mean, super paper Mario is pretty good, but I do agree that we need a new Mario rpg, especially since Mario and Luigi is now dead.
And here I thought getting TTYD Switch for myself was the most of my problems. If the stores really are cancelling orders because of how much they sold out... it means us fans are WINNING!!! I mean think about it; you never saw that kind of hype for Origami King!
Sad thing is, this would have been the perfect time for Nintendo to do a sale for Origami King. I don't think i'd pay more than 30, maybe 40 for the game, and I thought it'd be a good time to try it out while waiting for TTYD.
But everytime I look back at OK, I just can't convince myself to pay full price for it. Not because it's a bad game or bad PM game, just because no matter how many times I look at it, the battles just do not look interesting to me.
It does my heart good knowing a new generation is going to be able to experience one of the best paper Mario games and sharing that experience is going to be awesome
I really hope this game gets the love it so deserves. I'm gonna pick up an extra copy for my parents as an excuse to buy it twice. 😅
I'm 37 years old and never played TTYD. I didn't have a game cube growing up. I had a Playstation and was really into Chrono Cross. I do however have all the mario and Luigi games for ds and 3ds. Im really looking forward to this. I wont be able to purchase it till early June as I need a bit more cash but I'm really excited.

Did you at least play Paper Mario 64? If not you shoud try it right now on Switch, TTYD is just an improved version of that game. 64 was always my favorite cause it left a bigger impact on me since it was my first Mario RPG.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I used to work at GameStop. During my time there I noticed that for Super Mario RPG was completely underselling. There were so many copies we had that just... didn't sell. I wish I had an exact number but we had a LOT. So it's possible they took note of that and didn't want to risk underselling again, with this being another RPG as well. It's pretty much the exact opposite problem they had with that game. That's my assumption though, as I no longer work there and very rarely visit. Pre-orders seem to be going fine at GameStop so I'm really just theorizing here.
If you are talking about the remake for SMRPG it sold 3.14 million copies.
I thought SMRPG Out sold TOK in Just a few months.

Im impressed it did that well tbh I really enjoyed it but TTYD game is Mario RPG on crack in terms of quality. 🤷♀️
There is also extra attention on this game, like with Mario RPG, because of the Mario & Luigi games!
Playasia is still taking preorders and Japanese copies are $41.99. I'm using that and cheap shipping to save money even if the wait is longer. The Switch is not region locked and the Japanese copy supports English. So if you are willing to wait and can't seem to find a copy you could get 1 cheap from them or add around $20 of express shipping to pay around $60 to get a Japanese copy faster. I was going for the slower cheap shipping to save some extra money as GameStop always charges us around $8 in shipping and the cheap shipping from Playasia is also around $8 so this is a good way to save money. Waiting while a bit annoying it does seem like I will get a copy easy enough. They have not canceled my order. It seems fine. Plus Playasia is selling a lot on Switch for under $60 so grab bag what you can. Shipping is weight based so normally a Switch game is like right under $8 for cheap shipping and around $20 for express.
Nintendo, this is the most popular Mario RPG to ever exist by fans and its Paper Mario finally returning to its roots. What the hell did you think was gonna happen?!
Hope this finally gets around that THIS is what people wanted this whole time. Finally the dark ages of Mario Party and Paper Mario from the Wii U/3DS era are over.
Now just Mario Sports (Golf and Tennis, mainly) need to deliver again

I didn't get my preorder cancelled, I'm glad I got that because the same thing happened to me on Amazon with totk
I'm excited for the game and I'm glad my pre-order went through at GS. But I have a feeling that Amazon and Wal-Mart didn't' request enough copies for their pre-orders and didn't realized how popular the game was going to be.
Specially in the case of Wal-Mart, my theory is they want to be able to get their distributions for their stores as many retailers (at least up here in Canada) get their games directly shipped from Nintendo and doesn't come from their normal stock shipment anymore.
Not sure how its the case for Wal-Mart, but I work for a retail chain and that's how we get all our Nintendo games is directly from them.

From Australia here, my local town pre-sold-out. I've had to preorder it from a neighbouring town, which is great news because it's clearly popular.
Nintendo has seemingly always had issues with Amazon going back to the 3DS but yea, this is probably just a case of Nintendo being a victim of their own success and not having enough supply.
If that's the case, than we completely come in full circles here. Paper Mario is back and it looks like the series would go back to how things were from the first 2 Paper Mario games. Now if only we had an Paper Mario 64 remake.
Aren't Pre Orders by definition so Nintendo knows how many copies to send? That happened to me with Another Code. I didn't Pre Order and it took me weeks to find one.
TTYD is easily one of the best RPG’s In gaming history.

Think it good be both to high of demand and leaks. Noticed Luigi Manison 2 also isn’t able pre order at least on Amazon unless it changed but doubtful.
This is one of the many reasons why I prefer digital games bought from the eShop, rather than getting a physical copy.
Yesterday I went to the Nintendo store in NYC and got a copy no problem without a preorder
Considering that this is releasing on my birthday and as a fan of the older 3 games, you can tell I am extremely ecstatic for this remake
Is it confirmed the canceled orders are a result of the supply? Bc on Amazon you can’t even preorder digital codes of the game.
Walmart stated it was due to "supply issues"
This was exactly why I was worried that if I didn't pre-order this game, I would miss out on the physical release at launch. But at the same time, I'm glad this game is selling extremely well, as it shows how much demand there really is for Paper Mario to return to form. Now there is even more hope for the series than when the remake was first announced!
I'm so glad I pre ordered my copy from Gamestop. It's on it's way right now.

My preorder is still good from Best Buy. For some reason I thought the game releases next week now I'm more excited after seing it actually releases this week.

@@BowserEdits07 he hates paper Mario, he’s the reason sticker star was as bad as it was he thought the original beta stages of development for the game felt too much like TTYD, and years after that when origami king came out the producer for the game said they aren’t allowed to modify Mario characters in any way hence the basic characters, he’s forcing anything he doesn’t have complete say over to be boring and awful seemingly out of spite.

I was 10 when this game out I was always curious but parents didn't make a lot so I chose Smash Bros Melee and mario mario kart double dash instead . Im looking forward to playing this game as an adult now
I had it on gamecube back in the day and my brother traded it alongside of our copy of beetle adventure raceing and super mario 64 for a ps2 and cd book of games. I was upset.
Just called my GameStop, my copy is still good to go

My ideal paper Mario game would be; take the world building of origami king and mix it with the characters and RPG elements of thousand year door.
You mean level design? World building includes things like characters and environmental details, which TOK was still subpar at
I never playet ttyd but i played all others n original was my fav but this might change when i get to play this
Nintendo intentionally makes too little of their products. Especially when they know it’s going to sell well. They have been doing this for decades.
As a fanbase we’ve been starving for decades and it shows 😂, the vocal majority knows this is the only chance to make the statement we’ve been hounding Nintendo for years to do.
It’s likely just rich execs squabbling with each other and not thinking about their consumers in the process as per usual. So long as the game’s are still selling in other areas I won’t worry too much.
I hope this opens their eyes. But let's be real... It won't..

Thought about this and if this is true its worrying, what if they removed it due to Transgender stuff being in the game, target is known to take down trans stuff in their stores i think Walmart as well, I pray to god that's not the case, that would suck and be a sum reason too

PS has one game all year long last year.. they're going multi plat since all their games ate yined exclusive only and flop in sales like ff rebirth. I really doubt that this game is gonna sell as well as origami king, There's too many factors pushing against it like it being the second paper model to release on the switch And there's a clear trend of the second game of a franchise releasing on the same console not doing as well as the first one. I really don't think Nintendo would look at this and say that that's me's most people would want this formula to stay when they probably want to continue what they've been doing for a while now
Thousand year door is way better than origami king. And will never be surpassed by the other paper Mario titles. Don't fix what isn't broken

@@johnmehlman5195 The game is just mid it’s not even a 8/10 Mario game I didn’t like some of the writing it was just cringe the combat and ost is good but I hated some of the characters and the ending was unsatisfying. Honestly, I prefer super paper Mario
