I stand with the Ex-Muslims of North America. We support you and find your courage incredibly brave and empowering to others. Keep up the good work spreading TRUTH.
I broke the chains of Christianity years ago...but I don't have to keep looking over my shoulder for the rest of my life in fear of my apostasy.
Progressive leftists support you. Regressive leftists SHOULD be supporting you...and not coddling to Islam. ✌🏼️

Wow. Unreal & discouraging. They just DONT get it. I'm so ashamed of my fellow liberals. They're on the wrong side of this issue, the wrong side of history, & the wrong side of basic rights/dignity/humanity.
I ADMIRE YOUR BRAVERY & COURAGE, my friend! You have my full support & understanding. I hope more come to that same kind of understanding.
People always assume that I, myself, left Christianity & became atheist--simply because I'm a lesbian. That wasn't it AT ALL.
I could no longer square/justify my beliefs with my reality & education. They can't see that it was a PROCESS--where I truly questioned my childhood indoctrination & the complete absence of REASON in doctrines I was raised to believe.
I shed those superstitious, supernatural, mystical beliefs & fairy tales for ONE main reason: because they are preposterous!
I once was blind, but NOW I see.
People like you & Maryam Namazie are my heroes!
I would luv to know more of YOUR story.
      #ApostateSolidarity ✌🏼️😂

Reading...actually READING and studying the things we say we believe in, is always a good start huh? But wow, when you speak of becoming a father to a little girl, that really gave me chills. I only wish more 'fervently religious' ppl could be so capable of self-examination and reflection.
Luv shows like the cosmos !! Anything like that will only demonstrate what an afterthought we are in 'time'. So to speak.
Sam Harris is incredible. Can't go wrong there. I only wish more liberals would understand that culture and religion are two different things. And even then, some cultures cannot coexist without change. But as a liberal myself, the regressive left (much to my chagrin) will have to be brought along like everyone else into the new century and our new reality...with eyes wide open.
Well my friend. The most important thing u have to do in life now, is to be a good father. And I'm SURE u will. I hope each generation avoids the indoctrination pitfalls of the last. ✌🏼️

You can't imagine what an inspiration you are to so many by sharing your experience. I, for one, am grateful for the opportunity to have shared in your experience and hear part of your journey.
It's amazing how incredible life can be once the shackles of 'blind faith' and/or indoctrination are broken.
You not only changed YOUR life...but you ensured equality for your daughter--giving her limitless opportunities for her future.
YOU have undoubtedly inspired countless ppl as you've inspired me.
I commend your tremendous courage and wish you all the best!! Stay safe my friend.

Thanks for your good work, Ex-Muslims of North America! I am a leftist, but as a woman, I am firmly against "cultural relativism". Bad ideas and oppressive behaviour has to be opposed - always. No matter, if the perpetrators are white, browns or black, religious or not, Christian, Muslim or Buddhist, from a "Western" or any other culture etc.
Please, fellow leftists, remember that you are standing in a long tradition of fighting for universal human rights and for standing on the side of the victims! By ignoring severe problems (like in the religion of Islam) you are helping the perpetrators and ignore the plight of the victims.
Also, real feminism is not fighting to abolish the idea of universal human rights. It is fighting for universal human rights, including gender equality!
We are all humans (homo sapiens sapiens), remember? Why do you think that all Muslim girls really want to be second class persons, hiding behind a hijab forever? Do you really think Muslim women are that different from you?
So, leftist friend, reconsider if everyone who criticizes Islam is a bigot, an "Islamophobe" or a xenophobe. Fight the xenophobes, but do not be blind to the injustice, misogyny, intolerance, hate for homosexuals etc. of Islam (and other cultures and religions).

Religious symbols are not allowed in french schools for very good reasons. There are very harsh rules in french schools anyways not only regarding this issue. France has a huge muslim community, nearly one third is muslim, so they have to draw some lines in order to keep controle.
Women are also not allowed to cover their face in public and I hope it stays this way. I think it is a security risk if people can hide their identity in public places.

I’m an ex Muslim and I think most of md Syed’s arguments were erroneous. Islam considers all the Abrahamic religions to be valid and true, and there is a passage in the Quran which says that there have been numerous prophets and messengers that existed through time without specifying names (and this could mean Krishna, Buddha etc). He was wrong about defining the “age of ignorance”. Jahalia is understood perhaps in different ways. to me it translates as the pre Islamic, polytheism of the Arabs of the Nejd. Islam seems to be against polytheism the way I saw it when I was a Muslim revert, and not monotheistic faiths. The Muslim god is very angry about “taking gods beside Him”.
He was right about the fact that many Muslims (not sure if it’s in scripture) say that women’s rights were introduced by Muhammad. I don’t see how that could be true when Khadija being a widow, had obviously been able to inherit her wealth and run a successful business and employ men, including Mohammad, as well as approach him and propose to him. It indicates that she came from a rather fair society to begin with.
    .
I think that it’s very damaging to those leaving Islam to cherry pick and then accuse others of cherry picking. We have to be better than that. This is why I don’t like the Council of Ex Muslims. Their leaders look like they have a bone to pick and this is why they are championed by the extreme right. I agree with Sarah though about the burqa ban..however much it pains my personal feeling, that there should not be a ban but rather dialogue.
We shouldn’t let feeling cloud our reason. There are obviously attractive things in the Quran. Why else would people want to revert or wear burqa or hijab even with a liberal education? To understand how we can truly help, one needs to acknowledge the good in the Quran as well as the bad. I’ve studied a great deal into Islam before I got into it. What led me out what reading a great deal outside Islam and realising that there are better ways. I found the ideas that Islam criticised the most, namely polytheism and paganism, to be far more attractive and progressive than monotheism. Right now, I accept the good from all faiths, the right to journey through life, make mistakes, and I feel free to reject all faiths at the same time. I guess that makes me a liberal. :)

If someone never understand Islam in their life and didn't know why they follow Islam, and always had doubt in their heart and mind about the Creator's existence when they were mature enough to give consent, and pretend to be Muslim out of fear of the family and society, and later at the time of their adulthood leaved Islam to pursue their desire, should we call them ex-Muslims? Here's a better choice of terms. When a young person is trapped in a strict Islamic household, they cannot show their true skepticism for fear of beatings or death. So that makes them a prisoner. When they leave Islam, and live in a safe place then they are free. So the terms should be "prisoner" and "free person".
