I've been cutting my own hair for over 2 years now, sure at first it's probably not going to look good at all but after a while you will get the hang of it. If you're interested in cutting your own hair, especially fading or tapering it, there are tons of in depth tutorials on here. A few tips from me, #1 if it's your first time cutting your own hair, it's going to feel kinda awkward because your movements are going to be backwards if that makes sense. So try to get used to that first. #2 don't go for a skin fade the first time cutting your own hair, you most certainly will mess it up pretty badly, so maybe go with a number 2 or 3 guard just all over to get used to the feeling of cutting your own hair. #3 Invest into a good clipper, not only will your cut look that much cleaner / professional but it's actually much easier to cut your own hair, or smoother if you will. I can recommend Wahl brand clippers for beginners and Andis brand clippers to those who already have a bit of experience.

Awesome video! I've had the latter version for like a year now, except shorter on top and on purpose! haha I really enjoy the severe disconnect, the only thing is you have to have it buzzed down to a zero every couple of weeks to keep the harsh contrast.

I think the hair would look even more natural if somehow you could put some gray into it, just like how you have some in your beard.
I did this accidentally on my teen son, when he said shorter, shorter. I forgot to put the guard back on. It’s taken weeks to grow back. This video would have come in handy.

I have the second option for three years now. For me there’s nothing better. I shave the sides every two weeks (3mm) and i cut the top every 3-4 Months (right above the ear). It looks like Ryan Tedder
Your hair looks very natural Like this. Little bit more length on the sides and it's perfect. However I think, you pulled off the bald head quite nicely too

Fantastic as always...I would love to have my hair professionally done, many years ago a salon gave me bangs but I have this but curly long hair and well...when it dried, they seemed to be an inch long...horrible, lol, so I just trim mine once in a while....Sharing
I'm watching this in hopes that I can salvage my toddler's hair. He's afraid of the clippers and barely sits still at home, it's much worse at a salon. His hair is currently choppy, uneven, and has a sort of undercut in the back. I don't know how to fix it and am looking for any help, so this definitely helps me some
I try to do a high fade/taper with a 0/1 to 3 guard and blend in the length of the crown. The barbers in my community keep buzzing my head and left my bangs or fringe making my haircut very uneven and hard to slick towards the back. I kinda like the patches and spots on the sides gives the cut an edgey look like Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road

To me no doubt it is the first option.. In the first place people wearing stylish/longer hairstyles should be very cautious of any mishandling of their head.. To me a stylist is even more important than an operating doctor

I have had to do this with my son
he's 9 he has always had long hair he wanted a low undercut and the guy made no straight line in the undercut and it bothered me so I had to take it higher to make it straighter
i wasn't sure how to blend it at all so I just went with the severe undercut there are still a few screwed up bit but when it's down you can hardly tell and i hope it will grown in fast .. he is happy and says it's very viking / wrestling so he is happy

Here because I actually hit the long hair on accident, got caught, arms weak from work, had noodle arms. Now I have a devil horn 😂😭😭😭 it’s literally in the corner and very edge, and directly in front. Idk I’m at the age where I’m like fuck it, my hair is at my shoulders. I’m like fml, a dude can’t get a break lol 😂 but I can’t help but laugh. Guess I’m rocking the devil horn on one side lol I’ll just twist it n rock it lolol
In my opinion we should never be able to see your scalp towards the disconnected line when it comes to an undercut.
I’ve been a men’s stylist (cutting men’s hair only) for a little under 20 years.... and I’ve literally never had this problem. If my clients are cutting their own hair then I wouldn’t accept them back as my client. I don’t accept habitually late or reschedules either. I’m pretty strict with who I accept but I’m happy when I go home and I don’t feel like I’ve been pushed around or taken advantage of. I’ve fired many over the years. I would pull my own hair out trying to fix other people’s messes.
I wanna know the reason why my barber keeps cutting my long hair up top when doing an undercut baldy. It took me 2 years to grow the length I want and in a few seconds he cuts to high from the undercut line and cuts off my long hair. How do I tell him to stop doing that. After a few more haircuts and he keep pulling it up and up I'm not gonna have hair left. Wtf
