About Wat Traimit, The Golden Buddha is a gold statue located in the temple of Wat Traimit, Bangkok, Thailand. At one point in its history the statue was covered with a layer of cement kind of material and coloured glass to conceal its true value, and it remained in this condition for almost 200 years, ending up at what was then a pagoda of minor significance. During relocation of the statue in 1955, the plaster was chipped off and the gold revealed.
Wat Bencha also known as the marble temple, it is one of Bangkok's best-known temples and a major tourist attraction. The temple was built from marbles imported from Italy, and that is the reason why the temple is commonly known among foreign tourists as the Marble Temple.
