Thanks for putting it out there. We have a 7 old Vizsla and people seem to underestimate how much these young puppies need to learn to rest. There is also too much excercise with those breeds.
I'm certain that Willa couldn't possibly have more understanding or attentive owners. But I also think that some working dogs in domestic environments are too sensitive and/or intelligent for their own good and as you say, the social media attention is both a blessing and curse, giving a rather rose tinted impression for the most part. I live in a town with a quite elderly population and it seems to me that most of the dog owners are sensible and fairly realistic in their choices of breeds of dog. I suspect that the dogs perhaps also make some allowances for their owners in terms of strength and energy. But again as you say, patience is a virtue and with that they'll eventually reward you many times over. That was another great video!
Every dog breed has its own unique characteristics, needs, and instincts. Imagine having a Border Collie. Border Collies are highly active and intelligent dogs that require a lot of mental and physical stimulation. If you were to keep a Border Collie in a small apartment without providing enough exercise, it could develop anxiety, depression, and behavioral problems. On the other hand, if you have a Pug, they don't need as much physical activity and enjoy calm play and cuddling. Considering a dog's breed is one of the most important factors in creating a successful and happy relationship with them.
Thank you so much for the kind words Micheal ❤️ we had a shih tzu growing up which is the perfect low maintenance breed and I often see older people with them too because they match the household energy so well! Families and elderly people definitely need to consider their dogs’ breed characteristics before bringing their pup home!
Yup, pups can certainly be two hands full. It's also worth noting that even as the dog ages some breeds never fully mature or slow down until they are a few years old. And by a few years I mean senior years. My last terrier never started slowing down until she turned 13! Yup you read that right. And she lived well beyond that. Brittany Spaniels are another good example of a breed that can always has a bit of puppy energy in them their whole life.
Yeah you’re totally right Charlene! They may never mature out of this stage. Even Willa hasn’t really slowed down at 2.5, but she does listen to her commands consistently now, so I’ll take that win 😂 I was thinking of you when I wrote about the Jack Russel terrier! ❤️
Thank you! Our male is 15 months and we definitely have our moments!!! Where did you get the light blue collar? Our boy's neck gets really irritated and we're looking for a collar/harness that doesn't bother him. Thanks.

hello my friend You need to strike a balance between rest and exercise and play for your lovely dog
Yes yes we excercise a lot, I just met a lot of puppies recently who never learned to calm down because people think they need to do more and more.
Well said! Vizslas are such a joy, but if you aren’t willing to change your life at all, you’ll definitely struggle with raising them right.
