    I've done this test at my home with a similar size refrigerator. My 1.5Kw hour Jackery lasted a lot longer than the Patriot (48hrs). What this tells me is to really look at the efficiency rate of the solar generator you purchase.

    Thanks Joe, I keep seeing the ads for this solar generator. The fridge is the only thing that concerns me. So this test was spot on for us. We have a Jackery 240 that runs our mini fridge for camping 11 hours at 70 degrees. I charge it with solar or house power. Something is better than nothing these days.

    4 Patriot solar generator is the absolute worst dollar to watt hour choice. They take advantage of elderly and less informed consumers. PLEASE, shop around. A person can buy 4-5 other units for the same price and increase your storage and run time exponentially.

    If 4Patriots had a quality product and wanted the world to know about that they would send it to reputable UA-camrs to review who had also reviewed other solar generators, like EcoFlow, Bluetti, Jackery, etc and so comparisons can be done between the offerings. But 4Patriots REFUSES to do so which is ALL you need to know about them.

      It's not incumbent upon 4Patriots to do that comparison. It's up to Consumer Groups (such as "Consumer Reports") to do such comparisons. If you wish to do so, then that's on your dime. The best way to conduct comparison reviews is to independently purchase the items and do a comparison. That way, no one can be accused of making a bias review. Btw, how would you classify as "reputable UA-camrs?" My definition is that they purchase the item independently, do a review, and give their opinions. If a company sends an item to be reviewed, it should be said upfront and made clear to the company that an honest, independent review will be taken place.

    I live in S Florida and after going through several hurricanes (including Ian) over the years, I’ve pretty much decided on purchasing a solar generator. The fridge would likely be my number one appliance to keep running. I would definitely want a pass through model, so I can use a solar panel to recharge while drawing down the battery.

    Isn't the theory of only needing to run the fridge / freezer only ten minutes an hour debunked by the fact the fridge/freezer unit will only run as needed. Their should be no power usage by the unit until it is needed. This generator can extend the content life of whats inside the fridge/freezer by keeping the doors closed and running every couple of hours but the fact is a btu is a btu is a btu. You can't expect to go in and out of the fridge getting drinks and only run this for 10 minutes and hour and get days of use out of the charge.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Рік тому

      good points for sure. Although I do think that the food would still survive if you had to save power and run it this way, might not be as 'cool' as we'd like, but don't think it would go bad. I totally get what you are saying. Maybe a better way might be to turn the temp down in the fridge during emergencies. Thanks have a good one

      It's not really a review, it's a infomercial for 4Patriots. I bought a unit from a different company (Dabbsson) with almost 7 times the battery capacity for $2379 which is less than this piece of crap sold for. A real review would show how this unit compares to other units from the competition. This "review" is useless.

    How long does it take for the Generator to become fully charged by solar energy only? Days, weeks, months?

    • @adairw
      @adairw 2 роки тому +2

      Math... this unit has a 768Wh capacity battery in it. If you have 100 watts of solar it would take 7.68 hours to charge it. If you have more solar (say 200 watts) it would take 3.84 hours. Obviously the efficiency of the panels and the amount of direct sun you have will also play in to the variables.

    • @michaelbest7872
      @michaelbest7872 2 роки тому +1

      @@adairw Thank you for your view. The efficiency of the panels may be the reason. Why I'm asking, is I'd like to purchase this generator, but I'm reluctant based upon another product sold by 4 Patriots. It's their Patriots Power Cell. First, it DOES recharge my I-phone, but only when the Power Cell is fully charged. And the only way the power cell gets charged is if I plug it in to an electrical outlet to charge it. The solar panel does charge, but this unit (I bought 4), does not get even close to being fully charged by solar only. I can put this unit in the window, facing the sun for hours, days, weeks and months continuously and still this unit does not fully charge. So, I'm skeptical about how long REALLY the generator will take to fully recharge by solar alone.
      I appreciate your math answer and how it's "supposed" to respond, and time to recharge scientifically and based on variables, but that really doesn't answer my question. By your thinking, this unit SHOULD be fully charged in about 8 hours of direct sunlight in an optimum setting. DOES it, though? That's what I want to know, before I buy it.
      I'd like someone to do a video, putting the solar panel recharge to a test. How long does it take to fully recharge this unit, by solar alone? Do you know, or do you know of any other video's that have tested this? Thanks.

      No,I don't touch solar crap.
      I'm a mechanic.Gasoline is true power.
      Those weak little solar "generators" are all the same.
      Here's the test,try and run your microwave (1,200 Watt draw/10 Amp) with that fully charged " generator" ( BTW,notice none of these solar salesmen are doing that,for obvious reasons) that was probably plugged into the wall,to charge it,because the solar panel would take all day,and that's if the sun is beating down non stop on it🙃
      You're basically buying a 12 Volt Deep cycle boat battery ($110 at Walmart)+ some problematic Chinese inverter/ controller,and a super weak 100 watt panel,for $800 +++$$$.
      You can buy 2 Champion 30 Amp gasoline generators,for that kind of $$$.
      Which,at 2 am,in January,in a blizzard up north,are going to run for days straight,if needed,putting out high amperage,true electric power.
      These tiny solar"generators" are just like racing a Corvette around the Indy 500 track,with a horse+ buggy.
      Sure,the 1 horsepower buggy "may" eventually cross the finish line,but the laughter from the stands,is a tough way to go ...😂😃🙃😃😳😆

Put it back up the way I received it and the other day did a simulation power failure. Pulled it out, turned it on and it showed full power. Turned on the outlets, plugged in a small device, turned on the device and the bars on the generator battery went straight to zero and it shut down. NOT reliable to be ready when you need it. Something like this would be good for short term power outages as most are. Except when natural disasters hit (hurricane & tornado season for example). Then you'll need something with more endurance. I have an 8kw generator that runs 9 hrs at 50% load on 7.5 gal gas (longer with lighter loads). I keep 10 gal of gas on standby if needed. Total run time is 17.5+ hrs; long after a solar charger has timed out.

      agreed 100%. We also have a full home generator that we converted to LP. Has come in handy for as many outages as we have here. Thanks have a good one.

    None of these solar generators are designed to run inductive loads like refrigerators, power tools, microwaves, air compressors or motors because they employ low cost, high frequency transformerless inverters in their design. High frequency solar generators might be able to start and run some of these inductive loads when their new but high frequency, transformerless solar generators provide a very limited surge capacity and their MOSFETs can actually be damaged every time the inductive load is turned on. I know this to be true after running a factory authorized inverter repair shop for the past 23 years. High frequency inverters simply don't last in real world applications. So the answer is "yes" you can run a refrigerator/freezer with an 1800 Watt solar generator, but not for very long beyond its warranty period. Their MOSFETs simply can't take the abuse caused by repeated high surge loads like a fridge. A far better choice is to spend a little extra money and invest in a low frequency, transformer based solar generator instead. You'll be much happier in the end.

      Interesting information. Like many things in our economy people have to make the best choices for the cost of things they can afford. I'm sure most people (myself included) would love to be totally self sufficient with energy but it can cost a fortune to do so permanently. So we make the best choices we can with what is available in our price range. But I don't doubt anything you are saying. Thanks

    you know its just a battery and a power inverter you can use a car battery and a cheap power inverter and get the same use for a fraction of the cost the patriots are like $2999.00 you paying patriot for putting batteries and power inverter in a plastic box for $3000. thats ridiculous and waste of money!!! and you can get the car battery and inverter for around$300.00 THEY BOTH DO THE SAME THING!!! don't waste your money on these gimmicks!!!

    Real world, I'd our power goes out I wait 4 hours without opening refrigerator or freezer.
    Then I run the generator for an hour to cool them back down. I take out anything I need at the beginning of that hour. Then shut the generator off for 4 hours.
    Though not solar, the concept is the same for long term.

      Here's my problem,with these super hyped,weak as F,solar "generators" that these "Prepper" channels are pimpin..
      Poor broke AZZ grandmother,of someone,buys this hype,and saves up her meager $$,+ actually buys one.
      Well,poor Granny lives in Michigan,so in December,a big blizzard hits,and it's lights out for poor Granny.
      So she gets out her $1,000 solar 🙃" generator" well,the sun ,next time it's out in 2 weeks,looks like a tiny lightbulb.
      So,poor Granny ,plugs in her " generator" and it buzzes, blinks,and won't even charge her phone,so Granny can call for help.
      Granny could have had a 15 Amp gasoline ,real actual generator,for 1/3 of what she paid.

      It's not in my nature to be mean, but at the risk of sounding that way to some, I feel obligated to say, this is probably, by far, the worse deal you can get on as solar system. The battery is 768 watt hours, and that should give you enough to do some comparisons with other units, say, on Amazon.
      Also the threat of riots, and outages are the same tactics the 4Patriots people use to push their products. Honestly, I'm afraid the videos author is going to hurt himself more than anything else with this video, that is unless he stands to gain monitarily from 4Patriots.
