Cool vid. I have the PMX840BT and the Bluetooth comes in handy. I use mine like this: I plug a powered Sub Woofer into the RCA outs and plug my passive (non powered) Bose Monitors (with upgraded woofers) into the 8 ohm, 1/4", main outputs in the rear. A Samson C01 XLR Studio mic into an M-Audio FastTrack Pro which acts as a pre-amp and has the 48 volts phantom power the mic needs, then into the 840BT for my vocals. Then a Rockville RMC-XLR (XLR to 1/4") into a Line In 1/4", (since it doesn't need 48v or the pre-amp) for my harmonica. Then my digital drum kit also via a 1/4" Line In. Last but not least, I obviously use 1/4" Line In for my Guitar/Pedal Board. I do not use the effects loop on the back because it has a reduced volume for some reason. Meh. If I want to use my keyboard it's the same story, a 1/4" cable to a Line In. To keep from wearing out the jacks on the front of the 840BT, I use an 50 foot, 8 channel Stellar Labs audio snake plugged into the 840 permanently and just plug/unplug from the snake box. Due to the dedicated powered sub and separate monitors, it sounds great! I changed out the master volume knob to a large red and black knob and keep it on about 9.5 all the time, and just set the individual volumes on each channel. I also added a lit (red light) power switch on the front panel so I don't have to do a reach-around to turn it on and off. Some people complain about the noisy rear fan, but believe me, when you're jammin' you don't hear it at all over the booming floor boards! LOL Personally, I like this thing and use it almost every day, Cranked. The only two things I DON'T like about it are: No Headphone Jack and Poor Volume on the Effects Loop (no volume control for the Effects Loop either!)

This is probably the best and most in-depth tutorial I’ve ever seen. Even as an avid sound engineer, I still learned new things. Thanks for the video!

If I run a CD player in to the RCA inputs, use 2 passive speakers, will the sound come out stereo? Or if I run CD player in input on a channel using 3.5 from CD player to a 1/4" jack into channel, will it come out the 2 passive speakers stereo. I want to use CD player and 2 passive speakers but come out stereo. What do I do? When you played the mp3 out of the 2 passive speakers they were too close to tell if it was stereo. Thanks. Great video.

It took me forever to figure this all out. When the PMX840BT broadcasts itself it simply says Bluetooth (without a device specific identifier) then once it connects you use the "USB" and "Master" controls in the lower right corner to handle the sound.

I wish you would have talked about a condenser mic in the video. It would have helped me to make a more clear decision on what to buy. There is another company that has the exact same thing with one additional feature, and that is phantom power. The name is Rockport or Rockville. It may be owned by the same company for all I know being that the unit LOOKS Nearly Identical

I have a PA head (Phonic). It has built in delay but I want to hook up say, an Alesis Nanoverb for more EFX. Can I do that through the RCA ins/outs on the front there and defeat the built in and unwanted delay? Thanks if you can answer this.

I think for Pyle PMX 802M it only has RCA out, which can be used as output, as he described in video. I looked at the manual and it didn't have specific AUX out.

What cable is that at 10:49?
Is it better to use the splitter? Or would one 1/4 to 3.5 cable to a channel be the same?
Because I see you connected your Cable to 2 different channels.
Does that make the quality better?

Hi Robin, thank you for your well explained video. I just got the PMX840BT. I got it so that I can hold on-line class with my music fundamentals students. I have 2 small PM5 Pasive Carvin Speakers in my desk so when I speak I can hear myself without using earphones. I use earphones for privacy from my kids. With the Corona Virus I'm going to do my classes using zoom. I ran zoom and both my students and I can hear each other but when it comes to them listening what I play, they can't. There's a mini plug (Aux) where I think I can plug my computer speakers and have the sound come out. Is this the best thing I can do to reproduce the sound or is there's anything better. Thanks!!!
