    I know these are time-consuming, Moe, but AARs or live gaming are my favorite UA-cam forms. Great job. If I wasn't in the middle of Blackstone Fortress, I'd buy this.

      They definitely do take time, but so far this seems to be well received. So, I guess I'll have to look at doing more of these.
      I definitely recommend picking this one up, you can get to it after Blackstone. ;)

    Well we know now that’s not how city combat actually works. They might take a city in 90 turns or so.

  • @pm71241

    Hmm.. ."Territorials" ? .... I wonder if that's supposed to be the home guards, or the actual army.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  3 роки тому

      That would be a question for Bruce to answer, but I do believe it's the Danish Army.

  • @johndoucette6085
    @johndoucette6085 3 роки тому +1

    The attack on Alborg forgot to add the city intrinsic defence, so the Danes had 9 vice 8 points on defence.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  3 роки тому

      You are correct, I didn't mention the 1 for the minor city as I was only talking about the values of the Danish territorial units when counting them up, and to show how the reaction adds in more points to the defense value overall. With or without the reaction, it was always going to be a 1-1 attack, prior to any column shifts.

      @@MoesWargames I'm thinking city rules are going to be the single biggest thing people will forget - they look so similar to the original at first blush, but the changes are really significant. ZOCs being delay-only will be something else to catch people, I'd wager :)
      Still can't get over how bloody this version is compared to the original. It's a "monster" playable in a day. Really liking the vids on this game :)

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  3 роки тому +1

      @@johndoucette6085 city rules will trip people up for sure, especially since they'll be covered. It'll become second nature to check the more we play of course but with complex games, comes more mistakes until we've played it enough to become second nature.
      The ZOCs are fantastic, setup like this IMO. It really models modern maneuver warfare nicely I think.
      Yep, definitely bloody, and the opening turns makes NATO feel very vulnerable, which is a good thing I feel. Thanks, glad you're enjoying the videos!

      Wouldn't this combat start at a 6-9 ,1-2 and shift to 1-3? @9:34

  • @pm71241

    Hmm... "Århaus" ?? ... that's a really bad translation of that city name. Sure, "hus" means "house" ("haus" in German) in Danish, but that's not the stem in that city name.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  3 роки тому

      I plead complete ignorance to Danish name spelling. Honestly, the limited exposure to Danish words and language is completely within context of Volbeat lyrics, when they mix in some Danish words. Other than that, I'm totally unaware. I did look the name up after reading this and see it is spelled, "Aarhus". I take it that is the correct spelling?
      As an aside, I now have the Madness song "Our House" as an earworm whenever I think of that map location. lol

    • @pm71241
      @pm71241 3 роки тому +1

      @@MoesWargames Yes, it's "Aarhus" today.
      But during the cold war it was "Århus". The letter "Å" was introduced between the 1930 and 1955 to be used in places where double-A had a different pronunciation. There was a lot of resistance to do that in place-names (especially from the people living in those cities - Aalborg is another example) so in 2011 many of them reverted back to AA - including Aarhus.
      The place name is original derived from "Aros" - meaning "end of the river". It is not from "house" and thus cannot be translated into german "haus".

    Can the Soviet HQ use rail movement there? I think it is contested airspace.

    • @MoesWargames
      @MoesWargames  3 роки тому +1

      It is one of the minor mistakes I made, by three hexes. It is inside contested air space since it is two hexes from Lubeck which is still an enemy controlled city. If I put it in 2410, I would have been fine. I noted it myself but didn't mention it in the video since they never became an issue anyway, as I was hell bent on going after the final city and went out of movement supply pretty fast. Good catch! :)
