I was visited by mermaids in my meditations and I began, as a product of colonization, to research Celtic mermaids...only to later learn it was Yemaya. Another African Orisha I believe. It has always amazed me, since I was a young teenager, how many people still adhere to a colonized religion that was used to control and mold us. Hi Doctor, I think it would benefit many of American Africans that don't know the Religions of Africa, for you to offer a class to teach us some of them. Most of us are so hungry for cultural knowledge but don't trust most people speak on religion as they try to influence. Please understand that Voodoo, more accurately, Vodun, is an African based religion. African people were brought to the Americas and introduced to European cultures including their religions. In the case of Vodun, it is a mixture of the African and French Catholic religion and culture. It was the French who brought Africans to Haiti. Why would the African be bad? I think of some people who use Christianity for bad purposes, just think of the KKK and their version of Christianity that allows them to kill and hate people. Does that make the whole religion bad?
