Whatever your view on aviation, Alaska is a MUST for all tourists. You will love the local "Can-do" attitude to life. So different from the other 49 states.
I have been enjoying Draco since I first found out about it and Mike Patey.
I am looking forward to enjoying more and whats more, I am looking forward to meeting the Patey Brothers since they are near me; we have MANY things in common and they, as well as you Cory, have inspired me to venture into areas I have only gave passing thoughts to. I also want to add that I appreciate all you guys do to promote aviation "for the little guy's/gal's" who think aviation is only a dream for others to live out. I too was one of those people for many years and then a good opportunity (after having pursued it) presented itself to me and I began my flight training with Gyro Plane in Spanish Fork, but then the company took my deposit on a Gyro Plane (over 30K) and used it to move the company to Florida when I had only 1 hr left to finish the minimum of 20 hrs, now I'm stuck with no plane to train with and having one heck of a time getting my deposit back (which was part of the contract). It's folks like that that give aviation a bad name.
However, I chose to make lemonade out of lemons and as a result of what happened to me, I have decided to create a organization to help others achieve their goal to obtaining their flight credentials and peruse their dream of owning and flying their own aircraft, the bigger part of which will be used for rehabilitation for showing folks there is better pursuits in life than sitting in front of a TV playing video games and using drugs or other things that are non productive for a prosperous life.
So, if you really want to start a fund raiser that will truly benefit people in a positive way, instead of wasting time & money on organizations with self serving agenda's, then contact me and perhaps we can work together and the "Flying Cowboy's" can begin to promote Aviation in a way that will take the world by storm. After my experience I have been left without the means to even finish my flight training and peruse my goal as a CFI to help others, so I need to complete my end so I can move forward with helping others in a positive manner. Any assistance in that area is very much appreciated.
If your interested or you know others who might be and are willing to assist with a few shekels to get the ball rolling, then please contact me and lets get to work. THE SEASON IS PRESENTLY UPON US, lets take advantage of this pandemic and use to our favor instead of our demise. The sky is no longer the limit my friend, lets get out of the box and fly beyond the boundaries that have defined so may of our lives.
Love you guys and Thank You.
P.S. I will resubscribe to your channel if that will help you make contact with me.....not sure how that will work, if at all, but I don't feel comfortable with posting my email out here in the public.
Help me understand where the WHO comment came from.
I get emotional when I see Draco.
"OVERKILL IS AMERICAN RENAISSANCE. DARING TO DREAM TOP AMERICAN INGENUITY & CRAFTSMANSHIP. "
From steely eyed missile men to adrenaline junkies. May the Gods bless your sense of balls and living.
It’s amazing
Love the commentary on what Mike's doing. Great video! Congrats to Mike!
I love watching Draco “crouch” on take-off. Amazing!
With Mike's new gear. I'm wondering what his stance will look like now.

Awesome thanks Corey. Nice to see more Draco and Mick Patey in action.
Thanks from Australia 🇦🇺.
Draco is so epic! With that being said I cant wait for scrappy! Thanks for the awesome vid Cory.
I learned to fly in my dad's Cessna 182....1957 model. Love your videos and especially this Alaska series. We went to Alaska in 1969 and drove the Alcan Highway. My dad and I took a seaplane ride while in Anchorage. Keep up the great videos, Cory!
Another excellent video, thanks for taking the time to film and post. Watching Draco climb out reminds me of the first time I saw Wayne Handley and his Turbo Raven about 20 years back, Maybe Mike and Wayne will connect and swap stories some day.
Great aviation travelogue on Valdez Corey...featuring Draco of course. Always look forward to your videos because your such a positive individual...well done mate. Cheers from Down Under.
Brilliant piece of footage. Congrats Cory.
Draco is in a class of its own, but the ski-equipped PC-6 was pretty impressive as well with that brutally steep descent and impressive performance for its size. Very enjoyable!
Bill Hart Draco should put the skis on the pc-6 had for winter
Bill Hart I’m new to this type of competition, but I was like why the steep approach? Thought it was crazy. Met you at Oshkosh Bill, hope you are well.
Thomas Green, I’d be overjoyed if you’d met me at Oshkosh; but alas it must have been a namesake as I’ve been at home in Thailand, while pursuing my next project. I’m a non-pilot Aviation enthusiast for most of my 60 years, I’d like nothing more than to visit Oshkosh 1 day. I won’t speculate on the PC-6’s descent other than to remark again that it was impressive to watch. All the best to you Thomas.
Bill Hart my bad. I seem to get more and more confused as time goes by. 😆 Best of luck with your project and take care. Hope to see you in Oshkosh one day! 👍🏻
Awesome video Cory, keep them coming. That weather is downright depressing. Draco is the bomb, what an amazing airplane!!
Thank you Cory🤠 for coming out in the weather and taking the time to make this excellent video so that all of us back home(in the warmth of our living rooms) can enjoy this action too! BRRRRRR!😬 I'm in now & subscribed!
A bit of a clencher in there on that one landing. Glad Mike didn't have to try out his ground loop protection!
+TheTsunamijuan oh yeah! Even Draco has it’s limits
@@flycory torque roll? gust?
Got a bit of 'lift loss one wing drop' but boy his recovery was quick. Hope swallowing his gum didn't bung him up. LOL
He gave that stuff a work out on Reno yesterday. Sad day for Mike 😢
@@reckemroysrc3764 Yeah i saw minutes after he posted. Trying to think of something to do for him. I feel for him, i know hes beating himself up something awful. So glad everyone's okay though.
Hi Cory,
I'm lovin' your vids.
Am amazed at seeing what Draco can do in the dense Sea Level air @ Valdez. And WOW was that a 40 foot roll out? Am wondering if it could go straight into a loop and land again!? And 80-degree Bank turns? What penetration! And Draco doesn't even flinch! Not a hint of stall. If anybody makes a "Draco Aircraft Company" of Spanish Fork, I want a job!
And after decades I am getting new log book entries. Yes, I'm taking flying lessons again thanks to The Flying Cowboys.
Regards,
Great video! Valdez looks like an amazing place. I'm going to Reno for the first time this year. Looking forward to seeing you guys there! 😁
Best approach and landing by far, 12:40, superb job!
Another awesome video Cory. Thank you.
I came down from Anchorage to see the competition and I actually AirBnb'd one of those boats in the beginning of the video. It's the crappy one at the front of the dock with the makeshift roof 0:01. Made for an interesting weekend. Glad y'all came up, hope to see ya again next year.
I will hopefully be there in my cub!
Thanks for another awesome series of videos!
LOVE the Porter. More info on that please
so cool ty for sharing
love it mate
Awesome , really enjoyed that guys . All the best .................
What an amazing aircrafts, great job.
Loved your video, even if
Mike won, the others put on a great great show. Thanks
Another GREAT video my friend!! Draco is such a BEAST!! I hope to be able to see Draco in person someday soon. Keep up the GREAT work. Looking forward to meeting you soon. 👍👍
just beautiful !!! the setting in the mountains , can watch this all day , What was the record? in the hi altitude?
Great Video! I could watch Draco all day.
Draco was amazing. I am glad I got to see it at Oshkosh.
So pumped for 2021!! I'll be there!
Awesome video!!! You guys ROCK!!!
Another nice video, very peaceful scenery! And of course Draco takes it, Mike has tons of love in Draco and she has a big appetite for funds lol, lol I would of been first but I actually watch the complete video 1-1/2 x lol
Amazing video capturing some intense flying. It defies logic how quickly the Draco pulls up and flies. ✌🛫🎶
We giggle like children every time!
The last time I was up in Prince William sound was 1992. I see the weather wasn't any better when you were there than when I was.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
I how now seen Mike do this many times, but my heart still skips a beat....
Valdez is always a good time. Glad you guys could make it.
Love the video thanks!
Cory, our in-house team absolutely ❤️ your content. Best, Team Kookloo
Thank you! That's quite a compliment coming from you and your team.
Excelant camera work Cory
Nice views man, what a place!
loving it...but that weather is making me cold....come to Oregon where it's alil warmer. :)
I love Oregon! Yes please!
Trent P should have been there then it would be a comp :)
Mikes did great and the extra tanks looked to work out well too.
Thanks for the video Cory. and I hoped you have fun in the rain :)
Trent and Mike wouldn't compete in the same class. Mike is in turbine class, Trent would be bush class.
He's kinda busy building a house
Very cool video once again - beautiful flying and sights and Draco sure does cause the weather trouble. On your cub do you have the G3X Touch?
Man you guys are ballsy flying over that water. Time of useful consciousness in there would have to be in the single digit minutes!.. Awesome though!
I was in a seaplane. :)
Last time I was in Valdez 😡 April ‘89 - Oil spill cleanup ⚓️
Pucker factor at 1:20 with the birds, at least it looked that way in the vid. Great work, now a sub.
That was water on the window... Thankfully!!!
We have to appreciate the ability of those pilots who do this everyday with all sorts of passengers/cargo/conditions. You must be good up there in order to survive.
Great video! Thanks! Greetings from Chile
Awesome Cory! How far apart are the cones on the runway?
thanks Cory for doing your page.
RIP DRACO
Such an awesome weekend!
Draco will be missed.
Got cattywampus at 11:52! The judges were doing some quick backstepping!
I love in Valdez
Draco the only plane that has to hit the brakes to keep from rolling backwards.... And Thanks to Horizon Hobby I have my own model of Draco to fly. Thanks Mike P. And BTW I have a model of your Wife's plane also except on my model the control surfaces know even more tricks than your Draco, (But not nearly as many tricks as Scrappy). My Respect always.
Nice video, nice music (and it didnt boom over the speaking level) of course Draco is great to watch.
No surprise there. Draco is a beast. The new gear on Draco will be interesting. Did you fly up commercially and then meet up with the crew or did you ride up with someone?
Awesome video Cory , new to the channel , maybe I’ll make it to Valdez sometime .
It is beautiful there. you're going to love it! Thanks for watching
Who needs a Helo when DRACO is available...
Awesome Cory! Draco for the win! (never had a doubt)
It should be noted there was only one other competitor in the same class as Draco (the green Pilatus), and he DQ'd on both of his landings.
You saw his take offs and landings...much longer than Draco so it wouldn't have mattered. What should be "noted" is how much of an absolute Beast Draco is. There is nothing in that class of aircraft that can compete with it.
@@ModelAV8RChannel The point I clearly failed to make is, a 747 would have also won. The win is a bit empty.
I agree, He's losing some take-off to AOA, and some landing to bounce. He needs to look at his tailwheel height and the spring rate on his suspension.
He allready looked at this, just vew days before heading to Alaska he made the tail wheel smaller, machinrd a new tailwheel bracket, added two feet to the wingspan with removable wingtip tanks he built from scratch out if a 300 pound block of solid aluminum, foam, fiberglass tanks, and new carbon fiber wingtip. He also modified the cowling to make the engine air intake filters easy to service. All started and completed a few days before the alska Trip. Check out his amazing video on how he designed and buitall these mods in a few days.
Draco rules !!!:)
That plane jumps off the ground! Wow
Thanks Cory.
Cheers from the French alps 👋
Hey, Your camera seems to shoot well. What make and model is it?
Great video. New sub here
Very nice 😊 👏👏👏
I love Draco. Does the left wing appear to be a bit low? Left gear sagging a bit?
How can I get a plane like that?
Wow... the landing where Mike got a little off center had me nervous until he came to a stop!
Glad he didn't scratch his carbon fiber wing tip skids. That would've been a shame☹️
A true shame it would have been, but my main concern were the people getting scores. However, I don't think any of them even flinched... they know Mike knows what he's doing!
It was indeed a wing drop.
I think the whine of the PT-6 when he bumped up the power just added to the drama. Mike had also mentioned in one video (I think from Oshkosh) where he thought the plane would go over and left before Draco fully stalled. Do you know if he has taken it to a full break yet?
Spoiler Alert in the title! HAHA So many AWESOME things to see, like the actual otter. I love how Draco crouches then pounces into the sky 3:09 . And then the landing at 11:11 WOW!
Thank you for not putting music over that awesome sound
Do a video flying in Draco!
such a beautiful airplane
Sad what happened to Draco but my 3 year old always wants to see "Draco crash" So I played this for him.. He loves it.
11:47 that was not pretty. thought it was gonna turn into an accident
Only the greatest pilots can get results when they apply full-up elevator and put the prop in beta with little to no airspeed.........Amazing
Whats up with trent? hasn't made a video in a month. But this was an awesome video, thanks!
Today!
Cory Robin lol just saw that. Cheers
wish i was there, i live in wasilla ak
Sweet as :)
Another awesome video! Thanks for sharing. What's the plane at 10:30?
LMF1
How much of Draco's lift is generated solely from the engine blowing over the wing?
Wooooo!
11:47... holy shite balls. Those judges almost got a free back and sides!
super!!
Draco takeoffs never get old.
I assume you didn't fly your planes all the way there. Did you ship by air, land sea? Very curious.
Draco had wing extensions made for this trip for extra fuel to get over Canada in one hop.
Check out Mike Patey's latest video showing the build.
I would love to have been there when Draco showed up and watched the other pilots faces - oh crap it's that guy LoL
Draco is basically a VTOL :D
That last landing was spot on. Winner winner chicken dinner!
DRACO is not an easy aircraft to fly. Mike is a BEAST Aviator
Alaska the best place in 🇺🇸.
Energy clean High.people have different energies then rest of Amerika.Good place. This year i want to movie to Alaska.save place energy Gods High.Thanks.
Kia Kaha from New Zealand
Nice vid.
WHo and why would anyone give this a negative thumbs down indication? This is great stuff!!
what's Draco's FPM climb? all of them
4k plus easily on the initial climb out
Awesome video, and holy shit @ 11:46
RIGHT?!?!
@@flycory if I was stand there I would have ran a bit faster lol
Great stuff! Does Draco twist with the torque from the engine on takeoff and landing?
Watch the build series Mike explains everything in such detail. The rudder and evelator are enlarged for that reason I believe. Trent palmer has the best footage of draco under high power day 4 low an slow to Oshkosh rock and the ramp party. Looks like it just squats under power. Marvel of general aviation
Karl, I’ll go back and watch build video. I remember the one you’re talking about of Trent’s. It’s nuts! I just didn’t remember the wings rolling and it looked like they did on this one.
@@caleboshier3505 I'm intrigued as to what he creates with this scrap bush plane project. The patey Brothers are an incredible inspiration. I learnt how to make carbon fiber parts just from his videos. I just wish I had the self confidence to film my self workin an flyin ( Taylor monoplane and cassut owner).
Karl Heaton, I live 10 minutes from his hanger and am always hoping to catch a glimpse of Scrappy! A friend said the Pateys has some frames powder coated a few weeks ago. I can’t wait to see them buzzing around here!
@@caleboshier3505 you live in the most beautiful playground in the world for back country flying sir, jealous much haha I'm curious as to what's goin on the front of scrappy I know with them two its gonna be big. Am suprised a pt6 hasnt snuck it's way onto a cub in that hangar. You'll have seen turbulence in person my dream machine that. I live in the uk if I even enquired with our civil aviation authority about puttin a pt6 on a lancair I'd get put in a asylum haha God bless America dude
