First time playing Ark, the first cave I decided to go in was the snow one alone at level 95. I was so happy when I saw everything was so quiet, just some free loot and level 200+ fish (which I thought was some kind of joke). I guessed the difficulty was gonna be getting to the deepest part while withstanding the freezing. Then I went deeper I had a stroke after a 200+ purlovia jumped on me. Luckily before going in I set up a bed in a mini base outside. Respawned to get my stuff back and retreated immediately lmao.
I've been preaching the baryonyx since it was released. It can slay alpha rexes with no problem also. With a good saddle, an imprint, and some fish in its inventory it can do almost anything. I use them to tame squids mostly. Easily my fav quality of life dino
For people trying to hide flyers. Make a parachute and fly your bird high but within wistle distance and then hop off and parachute. Do this above the cave or anywhere to keep ground creatures from getting to it.
When I did the strong cave, I decided to build a small stone base just after you crawl through at the start. I built a turret on the roof, and I built some torches where I hatched dilos, 2 thylas. I brought the mum thyla to the cave where she gave birth, and the babies could fit through the gap. I had a wall going across stopping the wild dinos from getting to the babies, and I brought the dilos through the doors past the wall where they sadly met their fates! But the thylas are still in there on my single player world and I might make some cyros to get them out shortly. It was awesome actually claiming that part of the cave while I raised a force good enough to get through the cave!
The first time I went to that cave I was very careful.I searched the whole cave but still I couldn't find the artifact. After like 10 mins I got really impatient and started to rush the cave and I accidentally fell in a pit and lost a bunch of ascendant stuff. The second time I went there, I got surrounded by many bats and died and my bag disappeared into the ground and I couldn't get my stuff. The third time I lost my mind trying to find the artifact and searched online only to find out that my game is glitched and the artifact didn't spawn.😭😭
I have only found one cave, and that was on Ragnarok, and only because I was living in that area(I live in Eghli Throughway or w/e it's called, cave is in Jungle Ruins, left of a waterfall), and someone mentioned it in a video. Had never seen the entrance the entire time. 😂 Heard there were wyverns, so I travelled to the spot they were, and was immediately knocked off a ledge by one into the lava and died. 😅
With cryopods available for anyone now, I really like a good Yuty for the snow cave. And terror bird is great for the carno island cave. If you can change your settings, allow for cave building. Then take some stone fountations and ceilings into the lava cave and carno island cave and bridge the gaps so you can charge in and out in a hurry. I also will mark off the path to the artifact with torches, esp in the lava cave.
Most people: just use a Baryonyx for caves Me: Castoroides, take it or leave it tbf a high level Castoroides is just as powerful as a Baryonyx, only down side is that its a herbivore and can't gather the chitin for you, but you can hold a tool/weapon while riding the Castoroides so technically you still don't have to dismount to gather material
This is so exactly what I was looking for, good job man and thank you. Now I'm going to go actually watch the video. BTW, ironically, A B (C) would be for caves, the video is about caves, caves, lol.
Carno Island Cave, Artifact of the Devourer, can be soloed with a baryonyx. I find that the bary kills all the bats quicker than a thyla but it can be tricky making all the jumps back up to the top.
With the Megatherium the swamp cave is a piece of cake. You should have a few of them from the broodmother fight, you can use those and have some fun in there :)
The baryonyx can jump up into the artifact location in the cave of the pack. Completely negating the need for a grapple hook or going into the underwater tunnels. But you miss out on the loot in the rest of the underwater tunnels.
Yep, I was going to say the exact same thing. I've done upper south many times with a bary and just skip all the underwater parts. It saves you so much time.
Hahahaha 11:40 same shyt happened to me, just started a game and went there for my first base. 20min later I’m farming stone and I notice bronco being excited, I turn around and notice level 55 Rex looking at me coming down the mountain. I ran into that cave emptying my bowels in the process 😂
@@Windmills618 Bears are typically too big to fit in most caves. IMO best mounts for each cave below Lower South cave - Thyla (other options - baryonx, daedon, dire wolf, raptor, terror bird, sabertooth) Upper South cave - Baryonyx. Hands down best for this cave, going through the water sections is pretty much impossible without a good bary. If you're on a cluster and have cryopod access, then any of the above options plus a flyer to fly up to the artifact is good or you can use grappling hooks as well. South east cave - Argentavis, can walk it through the start and fly over the scary lava jumps. Pteranodon another option as well, and if you're clustered snow owls are the best. Swamp cave - Baryonyx (other options - dire wolves, saber, terror bird) not sure if daedon or raptors do enough damage to deal with all the bugs quick enough. Lost faith - Basilo, can try and speed it with an itchy but the artifact pool usually has a mosa and plenty of jellyfish so hard to dodge those, a good basilo can deal with this cave easily. Chitin cave - Baryonyx (same as lower south but thyla won't fit) Snow cave - Allosaurus not advisable to try anything else due to purlovia and the high level creatures with knockback North east cave - Thyla. Can do with any of the others for lower south as well, but thyla's take zero fall damage so if you fall you won't die well not from the fall at least. North west cave - can't get dinos inside this cave and not worth hatching/breeding to get one inside. Not even really worth using cryopods either as there is a few spots you have to crouch to get through.
actually phlinger i found a way to not jump once all u need is two grappling hooks if you go left before the first jump u can avoid all of the other jumps except for the last so which is why grappling hooks are useful because you can grapple to the artifact then right back. Hope this helps everyone who reads this!
And also for the swamp cave i’ve checked and on mobile the best mount is a baryonyx and a dire wolf because the dire wolf can fit in the crouch spot and makes it easier to deal with the bugs.
11:27 HEY actually if you fall in the lava and you're fast, a grapple hook can get you out. So any first timers, bring a few of those!! I had one leftover after doing the upper south cave grapple hook skip, and it saved my life. like 10 minutes ago.
Great video. I used a high level Thylo for the first 4 caves I’ve done and it’s been a breeze. Though at times I’ve had to cryopod to get him in past tight spots
Straight to the point with things no messing around. Love it. Keep up the good work.. New subscriber and looking forward to the other videos of you doing the caves for some guidance.
I can’t believe you put the cave of the immune before the Carno island cave! Yeah you need a thyla to make the Cano Island cave super easy, but you need scuba gear for the cave of the immune and scuba gear doesn’t even unlock until like level 82. We went in there with all the recommended gear and good Baryonyx’ and still got our butts kicked and died so many times finally gave up for now abandoned our poor Baryonyx’ in there… The leeches are a total nightmare, and the arthroplurea kept breaking our scuba gear, and then we glitched into the wall in one area and both of us died!
For swamp cave Megatherium is the best, but you need a crypod. They have rage buffs that make them do 4x more damage, take less damage, regain faster, immune torpor damage, etc.
For the swamp cave, using a Ghillie chest, gloves and head with Scuba pants and fins makes the cave survivable without having the durability decrease automatically on the scuba tank, just in case anybody's struggling to get through it before their tank breaks :)
@@ripd-bear at that point I didn't actually know how to use the gas mask (wasn't making new filters) so I figured it wasn't worth wasting, but wouldn't any flak gear be counter intuitive? They make you hotter and the cave is already hot af, you'd probs be dying from overheating with that unless you have some decent fort.
“Thylacoleo’s are a LITTLE bit tougher to find than a Baryonyx.” Me: Has a flashback of myself getting grabbed out of the sky in redwoods a few minutes after finally flying for the first time. Lost my Pteranodon and my life.
I just got the artifact of the strong. The best dino is a high level yutyrannus with lots of health, stamina and damage because its roar weakens the polar bears and purlovias, and scares away the yetis and direwolves. Make sure to bring all fur armor, a pickaxe to get rid of the crystals, a cryopod to get your yutyrannus in the cave, a full stack of cooked meat and like 15 medical brews to keep your health up as you will constantly be freezing
In terms of the top 5 most difficult caves I personally used Immune Artifact: Megatherium Devourer Artifact: Baryonyx Brute Artifact: Basilo Cunning Artifact: Basilo Strong Artifact: Yutyranus All creatures used had full imprints and just normal primitive saddles and caves were pretty ok, cunning and strong were hard hence why for strong I used a Yuty as their fear roar can reveal the buried Purlovias in the ground. The best way to do the cunning Artifact I found was to take it very slow and kill one group of creatures at a time and slowly move through the cave that way. Also bring at least 3 scuba tanks if doing it slower
For the car Island cave u can bring in a thyla and if ur careful u can just drop down take the artifact and just climb back out just remember to clear out the top abit
I always thought that carno island was the best place to get chitin. the respawn rate there is crazy high such that you can just fly around on a strong argi and kill scorpions, basically forever. plus there are like 5 supply drop spots there that only drop blue and better and come down one after the other all day and night. I don't recommend going there with anything other than a strong argi (or better) though, land mounts are too slow to take advantage of the spawn rates. that and it's crawling with apex predators
Cave of the Immune is also doable with Gas+Ghillie. And I'd rate it as harder than the devourer. Just because of the environment factors forcing more prep on you. Where as you can undie-500 the devourer with a couple of parachutes and grapples.
Phoo keep going one day you will be the next ark gaming pew die pie love all your vids and I use them on every single thing I tame and before as well how to make traps I have learned most of my ark knowledge is from you again thank you
Thank you so much because I'm trying to beat the boss and my God like friend helped me with the really hard caves and I did not know they were the hardest
These are great, thanks! What do you think of Megalania for bypassing to the artifact, are they generally doable? Also, I brought dire wolves into the northwest, but they do tend to vanish through the floor so... not recommended unless you have admin commands :D A bit of advice for the vids--when you pause and sort of talk to yourself in a lower tone, USE that tone for your videos.
11:11 MASSIVE step up, talking about the artifact of massive haha
Phlinger thank you you are amazing
Thanks =)
For the very early game, the torch is a pretty good weapon bc it sets enemies on fire and then you can run away
You could use quite a few dinos in these caves but what most people love is the Baryonyx, what a popular dinosaur
I liked the caves back before all the updates. Now there always swarming with creatures.
I can’t seem to find caves on my own so that’s why I’m here
I have only found one cave, and that was on Ragnarok, and only because I was living in that area(I live in Eghli Throughway or w/e it's called, cave is in Jungle Ruins, left of a waterfall), and someone mentioned it in a video. Had never seen the entrance the entire time. 😂
Heard there were wyverns, so I travelled to the spot they were, and was immediately knocked off a ledge by one into the lava and died.
I also will mark off the path to the artifact with torches, esp in the lava cave.
yuty was perfect for snow cave, thank you!!
Him in the ice cave : This place kicks my butt every time Me : *In creative mode* What are you talking about?
It's a little too late for me to "not run and jump on the ledges in the lava cave." May the good Bary rest in peace.
No crap music, you speak clearly, and you have a solid channel. Subscribed. :)
I'm ashamed to admit that I always need this video, I can never seem to find these caves on my own.
I’ve been playing for months and didn’t even know there were caves
Most people: just use a Baryonyx for caves
Me: Castoroides, take it or leave it
tbf a high level Castoroides is just as powerful as a Baryonyx, only down side is that its a herbivore and can't gather the chitin for you, but you can hold a tool/weapon while riding the Castoroides so technically you still don't have to dismount to gather material
A beaver doesn come close to a baryonyx
This is so exactly what I was looking for, good job man and thank you. Now I'm going to go actually watch the video.
BTW, ironically, A B (C) would be for caves, the video is about caves, caves, lol.
Carno Island Cave, Artifact of the Devourer, can be soloed with a baryonyx. I find that the bary kills all the bats quicker than a thyla but it can be tricky making all the jumps back up to the top.
With the Megatherium the swamp cave is a piece of cake. You should have a few of them from the broodmother fight, you can use those and have some fun in there :)
Thanks for the information philinger, really helped me find the caves especially the 3rd one!
A for Artifacts
B for Baryonyx
C for caves
D for Dont Forget to Hit a Like
Yyeeeeeessss coffeeeee!! Ark and coffee nothing but a good time
The baryonyx can jump up into the artifact location in the cave of the pack.
Wow this vid came at the right time for me! I have a daedon with 12k health and about 160 damage. Can i do caves with it? Already done first 2
it should be good for a few of them.
Damage is a bit lackluster
@@Phlinger what about my bear, 5k health and 400 melee ?
@@Windmills618 Bears are typically too big to fit in most caves. IMO best mounts for each cave below
Lower South cave - Thyla (other options - baryonx, daedon, dire wolf, raptor, terror bird, sabertooth)
Upper South cave - Baryonyx.
Chitin cave - Baryonyx (same as lower south but thyla won't fit)
Snow cave - Allosaurus not advisable to try anything else due to purlovia and the high level creatures with knockback
North east cave - Thyla.
@@youbetzler I don’t think you can take flyers into caves on default settings.
I think it's funny when I first explored a cave in ark it was with a Barton, before i knew they're a good cave dino
I really need to tame a "Barton"
Ni Ghidorah what does he mean?
actually phlinger i found a way to not jump once all u need is two grappling hooks if you go left before the first jump u can avoid all of the other jumps except for the last so which is why grappling hooks are useful because you can grapple to the artifact then right back. Hope this helps everyone who reads this!
And also for the swamp cave i’ve checked and on mobile the best mount is a baryonyx and a dire wolf because the dire wolf can fit in the crouch spot and makes it easier to deal with the bugs.
Good vid. Should've had a GPS out instead though, or at least used one with the map. Luckily pinpointing them isn't super difficult
This is the ark basics video i consider the most useful, and i have a suggestion: A for Ark, B for Basi and C for Cs
That T-Rex was a paid actor
Def have followed this guide over the last year! Thanks Phlinger!
11:27 HEY actually if you fall in the lava and you're fast, a grapple hook can get you out. So any first timers, bring a few of those!! I had one leftover after doing the upper south cave grapple hook skip, and it saved my life. like 10 minutes ago.
I fell into lava twice in the lava cave and lost 1 saber and 1 baryonyx....
@@kaandosantos5570 skill issue
I saw the Baryonyx in the thumbnail and was reminded about killing a lvl 112 Baryonyx today.. ;-;
Damn I killed my 249 trike in a spike on my gate he got stuck and started taking damage and died in like 1:30
Damn man sorry to hear
Great video. I used a high level Thylo for the first 4 caves I’ve done and it’s been a breeze. Though at times I’ve had to cryopod to get him in past tight spots
Grapple Hooks is popular
The dire bear is also super good for caves, absolute beast with melee stam and hp upgraded
In singleplayer i just start Building the Environmental Dangers away with wood
your voice reminds me of Pleakley from lilo and stitch lol
Yea I never noticed that...
7:30 upper south cave.(artif of the pack) NOT IN MOBILE.
Yes it is... I think
It's fine, nobody likes mobile anyways
What are the exact coordinates for the caves?
C= COFFEE, the heart and soul of all dads
I love how you don't mention mega rabies at all
This is the PERFECT vid for me - have been wanting one like this for weeks now! 🙌🏻
Gas Mask and Flak
@@ripd-bear at that point I didn't actually know how to use the gas mask (wasn't making new filters) so I figured it wasn't worth wasting, but wouldn't any flak gear be counter intuitive? They make you hotter and the cave is already hot af, you'd probs be dying from overheating with that unless you have some decent fort.
“Thylacoleo’s are a LITTLE bit tougher to find than a Baryonyx.”
Me: Has a flashback of myself getting grabbed out of the sky in redwoods a few minutes after finally flying for the first time. Lost my Pteranodon and my life.
300+ hours in, I've still yet to explore a single cave...
Didnt show the map location of the 5th cave, so I'll have to look around for that. But I think I got the rest of them, thanks ^^
“Coffee?”
*I swear I looked at my coffee and I must of had shocked Pikachu face.* 😂
I use so many grappling hooks in these caves. I love it
Ascendant Torches are great. But my favorite is ascendant compass. :)
Subbed love all these ark beginners vids thanks mate
Bro seriously if they are here to watch your cave video they probably dont have tech armor
In terms of the top 5 most difficult caves I personally used
Immune Artifact: Megatherium
Devourer Artifact: Baryonyx
Brute Artifact: Basilo
Cunning Artifact: Basilo
Strong Artifact: Yutyranus
All creatures used had full imprints and just normal primitive saddles and caves were pretty ok, cunning and strong were hard hence why for strong I used a Yuty as their fear roar can reveal the buried Purlovias in the ground.
The best way to do the cunning Artifact I found was to take it very slow and kill one group of creatures at a time and slowly move through the cave that way. Also bring at least 3 scuba tanks if doing it slower
Forgot to mention I always bring an otter
Lol "undie 500"
This saved my world I loved the megalania but didn’t know how to get it
Phoo keep going one day you will be the next ark gaming pew die pie love all your vids and I use them on every single thing I tame and before as well how to make traps I have learned most of my ark knowledge is from you again thank you
You can have your argy follow you through the chitin cave. Very handy
Quick tip for the cave at minute 12-13, just wear a ghilli armor and everything is good
dang, i just finish grab artifact of hunter (note: i havent play for long)
and like you say, its really easy with a help of A GOOD BARYONYX
♥️♥️♥️ Wish there was an Ark Mobile done this good!
There is ark mobile
@@tjtimi4574 I play on it... The videos are lacking.
Thank you so much because I'm trying to beat the boss and my God like friend helped me with the really hard caves and I did not know they were the hardest
These are great, thanks! What do you think of Megalania for bypassing to the artifact, are they generally doable? Also, I brought dire wolves into the northwest, but they do tend to vanish through the floor so... not recommended unless you have admin commands :D
A bit of advice for the vids--when you pause and sort of talk to yourself in a lower tone, USE that tone for your videos. Your regular "yelling" voice is too loud/piercing, but the quieter talking voice is great!
