The Shimoda Urban Explore bag for a city backpack is terrible for laptop and document storage. Where the laptop compartment is, the moment you slide a standard Macbook Pro in there, the front compartment almost becomes useless. Then there is no place to keep any sheet of A4 paper which is insane - I had to take a printout one piece of paper (certificate) and this bag had no room for it. Everything else if you don't have a need or care for the above, it is a great bag for sure.
Best camera bag is a great (non-camera) backpack + a camera cube inside. The padded dividers in that Shimoda look like they're coming straight out of a $15 camera bag... Just look at the ones from Peak Design, or Nomatic x McKinnon for comparison.
Thanks for the comment! Both of those are great bags (which we’ve used and tested in the past also!) but they aren’t new in the past 12 months ish, so they don’t qualify for the Carry Awards. Definitely in our best of lists!
I'd call it "Best stylish high-end bag that can hold cameras. In my opinion, those are hardly the best camera bags (except the Shimoda, which is pretty great)
Thanks for sharing 😊 We were surprised by the quality and function of these new bags, and the sling category is up and coming for sure, perhaps why we see so many newer small camera bags this year!

Following Taylor Welden's social posts, I went down the Barbarossa rabbit hole and now I don't need any other camera bags.
Fantastic bag, one of my all time favourites! Although it was released a while ago, the carry awards are about the new releases!
