    Guinness World Records should be ashamed of themselves for denying the record....they had such a huge opportunity to basically educate a larger portion of humanity about the beauty of hemp and how good it is for the mother Earth. I guess they'd rather keep stigmatizing it.

      @@hemptraders5881 “Cannabis advocate Irvin Rosenfeld is the epitome of a cannabis legend. His achievement is recognised and listed in the 2014 Guinness Book of World Records as "the most marijuana consumed". At the time of the record, Rosenfeld had consumed more than 115,000 joints, more than any other person in history. How can such a large number of joints be counted? We don't know, but if it did appear in the Guinness World Records Book, the blue-jacketed judges must have managed to check it.
      We know that it's very difficult to prove something like this, but his arguments are quite convincing. In 1982, Rosenfeld enrolled in the US government-sponsored Experimental New Drug Research Program. The programme stopped accepting applicants in 1992. Today, Rosenfeld is one of only four patients who continue to receive free joints every day from the government. If we add up all the joints he has smoked over the past 30 years, we get a figure of 120,450 now. And no one else has the paperwork to prove that they've smoked more than Rosenfeld.” , www.alchimiaweb.com/blogen/cannabis-world-records/ there ya go

    When I was a kid we found one growing in a stream bed right next to the water and it grew up more than 6 feet past the road surface of the bridge that spanned the creek. It was another 12-15 feet down to the stream bed below so it was at least 18 feet tall and had the shape of a Christmas tree as it had no competition other than some grass at the bottom and the much larger cotton wood trees all around. This was probably mid to late august just before school started again in SD so near to, but not at, the end of growing season, so it might have gotten bigger had we not chopped it down and wrestled it back to my friend's place to show his parents. It took two 10 year old boys just to drag it because of how much foliage was dragging on the ground.

      plants compete for light. when theres too much foliage around, they grow taller to get above the rest. survival of the tallest for plants like for animals its survival of the fittest if you want to use that analogy. then, you need to take into account the right amount of nutrients the plant needs to allow such growth. if there is no competition for light, the plant will stay short and branch outwards to get more leaves onto itself to soak in more light.

      The footage was probably not an exact acre but a good image of the material bailed up. If hemp is grown properly, it should produce 4 tons of whole hemp stalk per acre. If we assume 1 bale of fiber is 500 pounds, then a full acre would produce 16 bales.

      4,284 pounds of textile fiber per acre. from 1,052,182 plants?? thats a calculation from a strain bred for textile fiber production, futura 83. Since strains are bred for more and fatter seed also to get hemp seed protein and hemp seed oil. Pulled the intel from university of vermont. I dont understand the question on Biomass fuel. Since are we making charcoal, biodiesel oils or Ethanol. I'd use half to convert the other half to charcoal then run a steam engine for infinite carbon gassing and electricity.

      That particular variety was called Han NE. It is a Chinese fiber variety know for growing tall. It is harvested for fiber prior to any flowering so the total cannabinoid level is almost zero at that time. We did allow for some of the field to flower and we tested it at that time. It tested at 0.3% THC and less than 1% CBD.

    Ya know, I cant find any evidence of it on google right now, but I coulda sworn Ive seen both on videos and IRL many marijuana/cannabis plants that are taller than 20X feet.... Like... Im talking telephone pole height.
    Maybe Im mis-remembering or hallucinating or some other third thing(bad perspective, mis-judged or something....)
    But Im very very very sure that you can get plants that are bigger than that.
    The trick is vegging them for multiple years.
    There are multiple year old plants, and..... if you kept fertilizing those, and they could be grown for years longer(dunno if your outdoor weather can support that. Some places can. Alternatively theres indoors, greenhouses, or other methods to keep them in the pocket during the worst months(including extra lighting outdoors, wind breaks, etc)
    IF it can get to that height in a season, it stands to reason that if it can be made to live multiple seasons, it could get bigger.
    Thus I suspect that perhaps Im not mis-remembering and either larger specimens arent recorded, or if they are those records arent adequately archived online

    • @lawrenceserbin7148

      I do believe it is possible that a plant grown indoors and kept in the vegetative state could live multiple years and grow very tall. That would require artificial lights. But you would need a very tall room to house the plant. Our plant was 24' tall grown outdoors.

    • @lawrenceserbin7148

      @@tandava-089 Hemp is an annual crop. This means the flowering period is based upon the number of hours of light it received. It stays in vegetative stage when there are more hours of light than darkness (Spring/Summer), and then begins to flower when the amount of daylight diminishes around late summer. Flowering starts when daylight drops below 13-14 hours per day depending upon the variety. The number of hours of daylight in the tropics is usually never above or below 11.5 hours to 12.5 hours, so a plant grown there would grow about 1 foot and then flower. Some varieties are auto flowering and will begin to flower after a certain number of days regardless of the photoperiod. If a plant were to stay in its vegetative stage all year round, it would not be able to reproduce and would eventually die out.

    • @tandava-089
      @tandava-089 Місяць тому

      @@lawrenceserbin7148 I think while this is true there may be some strains with genes that sort of are exceptions to this... I believe there are a few strains that tend to wait till at least 12 and maybe more hours of darkness. I know some strains are VERY sensitive to light.... perhaps this plays a role, be it ambient light, or moonlight being enough or something. Further I think there are some strains which cant flower in that period of time totally or at least so completely that they exhaust themselves and die rather than revegging afterwards.
      I could be mistaken, but this is just from my observations, memory, and knowledge.
      And, while all this is true, I do know some people have used lighting outdoors to keep plants in veg outside for a few years(although its rare if at all they grow for height) but I do swear Ive seen some somewhere tall as telephone poles.... I just cant find(evidence for) it/remember even where right now
      Like I said though still, impressive crop, and cool video!
      Have you ever considered using lighting to attempt to see how tall you can grow a specimen artificially? Idk if your into PR, but definitely wouldnt be a bad feather in the cap if you do work on seeing just how tall we can get them to grow!

    Will this be the only crop grown? Hemp is an amazing plant but growing only crop year after always ends up with problems like pests and plant diseases.
    I realize there is a lot of pressure for farms to specialize, esp when the crop requires processing machinery.
    Hemp would be a great cover crop to grow before other crops, esp if it is tilled Into the soil.

    • @hemptraders5881
      @hemptraders5881  11 місяців тому

      Good questions. When hemp is grown for fiber it is planted between March and May, depending upon the location. It is then harvested in August. So you are looking at a total of 4-6 months in the ground. When hemp is grown for grain, it is planted between May-July depending upon the location. And it s harvested in October/November, about 3-4 months. So the rest of the time the soil could be used for other crops.

    Did the neighbors plants get pollinated with hemp?

    • @lawrenceserbin7148
      @lawrenceserbin7148 11 місяців тому +2

      There wasn't any floral hemp grown in the area, so this was not an issue. At that time county law required us to get signed and notarized permission from every neighbor within 500 feet of the grow. That was quite a challenge. Not every neighbor wants to be bothered. The neighbor's biggest concern was not cross pollination but strong odors. A number of floral hemp grows had been opening in the state with several news articles focusing on the strong odors they emitted. Since our hemp is grown for fiber and harvested prior to flowering, there are no odors. A number of neighbors came by to view the crop and noted the lack of any odor. Two years later the county law was rescinded and we no longer need permission from our neighbors to grow fiber hemp.

If hemp seed were incorporated into just one percent of animal feed in the United States, it would require over 7 million acres to produce. In contrast, only 7,102 acres of hemp was grown outdoors for flower in 2022. And less is expected to be reported for 2023.
