"Ironically I don't like loud music, except when I mix!!!!!" Truest words I can't explain to people.
👨🏾🚀 I’m the same exact way!! I despise hearing loud music
Ironically you don’t won’t to mix loud music mix low mid maybe turn up at end of the process
Both of these guys are great producers
Leslie dropped some lifelong career gems.
Much Respect to Wavey and to Leslie, he's such a dope soul. Dropping Gems, hopefully he can mix one of our records one day.. Salute.
Leslie gives back often. I've seen him multiple times at Full Sail events. Good to see you two together. Thanks for the content.
This was dope bro. I appreciate you putting this together and also appreciate Leslie taking the time to chop it up and dropping dumb gems!
Been doing this a long time.... to watch my all time favorite engineer talk to my new go to favorite engineer......... This is PRICELESS!!!!!!
I’m an old saxophonist, and lightweight producer of some UA-cam music. I watch a few of the heavyweight engineer videos to be able to weigh some of the tips. Gotta say Wavy, this is a winner. Love this guy’s stories, and love the way he tells them.
I made my living for 45 years as a corporate annual report photographer. When I started I was spending my days when I wasn’t working on the road hoping my slides turned out that I shot 3000 miles away, and doing some press releases in black-and-white with my hands stuck in chemicals for four orfive hours a day. Like Leslie hating tape; I hated chemicals. I was a nervous wreck worrying about my transparencies being perfect. Then my computer offered me Photoshop. I agree with him, being in the box, when the box can offer the same quality as analogue, is a no-brainer. Also, his take on careers in the arts is spot on. Everything he said should hit Home for every young, career climbing artist. Spending time in the woodshed with nothing on your mind, except getting better at your craft will eventually bring you monetary gains if you’re motivated.
By the way, I’ve been playing saxophone since the mid and early 60s. I played professionally up until the mid 80s. I played the Baltimore clubs, restaurants, and the Strip clubs on the block, and I was on the road with three or four talented groups. I moved into photography as a career when I saw music moving away from live performances. I still play. I still practice daily, and music is my life. Corporate photography, which was a very creative living, was my career.
“Figure out what your gift is and give it away” that was powerful
It gave me chills 🔥 dope! Watched the whole vid
OG LB has inspired me. I really appreciate how giving he is with information. I have learned a lot about balanced mixing and how to get the bass sounding tight by listening to his mixes. The migos songs are part of my reference material when I am mixing heavy bass. I love the full sail session that is on UA-cam where he walked through the plugins used and the why. Changed the way I think about how to stage my 808’s for sure!!!
loving this new wave of the best mix tutors on UA-cam linking up with the mixing giants and sharing information. Content like this can only lead to better sounding music
What a great interview. Not even an hour in and it’s one of the best chats I’ve seen on anything. He’s a maestro!
Leslie, what an honor to hear a man in your position express his love and devotion to God and his wife but what’s superior is that He stands for God! This explains your success because if God is for you who can be against you! Bravo my brother in Christ
As a Full Said graduated I loved watching it. You two are amazing people and it is a bless to be alive to catch up with a lot of good insights and visions.
this whole interview was so much more than i couldve expected, thank you both!
Blessed to have spent a day or two with LB on a project. Such a great guy. Proof you don't need a super tricked out template to make good mixes. Fader balance is king.
Great Video brother 🫡:..🔥💯👌🏽
Great interview, full of gems! I appreciate the continued great content.
Great interview Wayne~ Congrats~ Appreciate the workshop! Thanks Leslie Brathwaite!
I totally relate to working at home. Quite stuff at night.
Leslie is a wise man. Still watching the video but I know this is a good video
What a blessing this interview has been! Thank y’all for this! God Bless ✝️🙏❤️
this interview was really helpful. leslie always drops gems
this was dope bro. I appreciate you putting this together
Amazing workshop! I am new found student of both you now. Thank you
That was very good. I'm impressed. Smart guy. Good job Wavy, you didn't interrupt or show off your own thing, you did a great job.
Great interview, money is the number one of craft killer. Passion.
if you skip thru the opening interview you don’t deserve the knowledge.. I consider myself a independent artist and have seen a handful of wavy videos on my journey, I started learning to mix/master a couple years ago. This video was the first I’ve ever heard of Leslie Brathwaite which is ironic because I live in “small town USA” and I say that in understanding of Leslie’s knowledge.
Personally I agree with being who you are before anything as it defines everything that you do in the same result, and the common physical denominator in the foundation of this whole production(I’m talking everything involved person/equipment/etc)is hard work, and one of the biggest verbal structures is patience.
Leslie did a good job expressing who he was as a person just telling everyday stories about his life and giving some of his personal life experience outside of music which viewing from somebody in my position really painted the the big picture and in result really defined the silver lining of Leslie’s mixing skills and knowledge in this production, as well as a result of all the work on Wayne.wav’s side.
I feel the mixing knowledge would not have been as valued if not having the sentimental attachment of the background behind the whole process which is really inspiring and eye opening on many aspects of both business and personal levels.
Much appreciation to everybody involved im glad I found this channel real talk
yo wavy I was tryna access your mastering links but they kept me taking me to error pages not sure why I was wondering if you still offered mastering services ?
Another gem!!
This is how you host someone 🔥
Wayne you the goat for this interview. As a fellow STL engineer I give hats to you for all you’re achieving in your career!
Very good show. The simple lesson on notching out frequencies helped me sooooo much. Like you said. In my mind I was thinking it was too much. Made my vocals sound so much more smooth by removing trash. Thankkkkkk yoooouuuuu
There is so much wisdom in this! I hate that I couldn't watch live. I'm looking at mixing as a hobby as a somewhat decent musician (not being humble, I've worked with good musicians and I can recognize they're better). The question I would ask is: Is mixing something that I can reasonably do well -- not professional level -- without investing a ton into hardware, software, and education? What does it take to be a decent amateur that is fine with going to a pro when I want it done well?
So many gems here. 🙌🏾🙏🏾
so dope love seeing ppls process awesome vid man great work
Great interview
Mannnnn... This finna be ANOTHER dope one
Bro brought out the 🐐!! I’m bout to watch this whole pie!!
Thank you for this. From Kenya

Thank you Wavy and thank you Leslie. This is really dope!!!
this touched me Im watching 5 months later as a full sail student for music production business
Nice workshop.
Great work.🏁
Leslie got the best stories 🔥
He is right about that moving home…. I went to The Los Angelos Recording Workshop now L.A.R.S. In 98….. had an opportunity to intern at Larrabee… didnt knw where i was gonna live etc cause intern was free….moved back home and now im filled with a bunch of what ifs…. And stuck at Walmart about to be 50…. Still have the same passion and hunger but im stuck…. Life got me…. Im actually tearing up thinkn bout it now…. I really wanted to be an Engineer/Producer
Leslie is an asset.
Great chat! I think Spatial Audio is getting better, especially on the AirPod Pro 2s. I hated it on the first ones. I don’t love it as much on the maxes. Of cos, it doesn’t sound as good as a dedicated atmos speaker system.
I like it! Good advice
such a dope interview
I love my ppl & hometown but I had to move away. 33:03 most of my friends moved away and the ones that are there are just stuck in a loop not growing and getting older.
16:17 FACTS!!!
That's what up bro! Working with the goat!!
So cool!
I did my paper on Leslie Brathwaite he inspired me to do great
Legendary.
Yo thank you guys for this video 🙏
Great Interview
this was dope
So dope man
Great interview where can i find more info on mix nix in July
I think I can explain the entire plan a vs plan b segment, the feeling of failure is something a lot of people rebuke. If plan b works, they’ll always be reminded of plan a not working, especially when it’s in a similar field. However, team no plan b over here!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Yes Sir.
Bro you always make dope content but this was by far one of the most interesting and informative videos... I wanted to say thank you and Leslie for all the information 🫡 💯
Pultec is the one for low end on kicks.
I had to FFWD to get to the sound... Thanks
The overall take away from this, is if you receive stems which have been tracked with a good mic, good signal chain and good studio, with a song which is arranged well and has good sounds, a lot of the mix is there already. These days getting a good sound in the daw is easily done, so long as those first elements are in place
🔥
Somebody please tell me, what’s the name of the headphones that Leslie uses?
Does he ever use satuartion in his vocal chains?
I do my mixing in my semi when I'm on the road
OJ is this dude guardian angel
Funny and informal
When to walk away is the hard part.
Why I ain't getting no audio
Bruce Sweden G.O.A.T RIP
im trippin.. ive seen this interview already... i dunno what is going on, but it is a really long and elaborate deja vu.
Nah Leslie just wears the same clothes bro , your mistaken this with another interview lmfao
Even the basic gun got 6 bullets
My guy is a shooter,Kobe status.
Straight shooter, lets shoot for it.
Which monitors does Leslie have? I see those on #Vlad videos in pink...
Give yourself permission to turn that knob all the way up or all the way down, or de ess twice, as long as it sounds good
Leslie must have been watching a different trial than the one i watched!
Lol the magic of it, shut up 😂😂😂
🧨🧨🧨
fly on wall
Get Money!
If you know the lingo
U in the game 😎
He talk about engineers how I talk about nba players😂🔥
Crazy thing is I found this video after OJ Simpson passed away.... Crazy world
My school is offering a 6 week course with him for $2200
Not worth it
Was happy in the box?
Any other fullsail students in the comments?
wayne look like he off the gas
😂 wow all these full sail alums. Im a full pre drop out. I went to one class and um started getting money on OBT. Ifykyk
What a Horror Story #OJ 😅
No Diddy ❌
Colin masters in 20min?!? what does he use LANDR 😂😂😂😂😂
If this song was bongos Which i think it is. Love the mix hate the song
I disagree with the mastering and mixing part bro the rest was good but there are people who can do both saying no one at all is a stretch
Alot of things he was saying was wrong and I don’t agree with but I still took tips
@@priiintplayzz6219 Exactly nothing wrong with tips even if we disagree
Most things Leslie mention is based off what he feel or what he would do in certain situations. But he also did not knock doing both and being good at it. Leslie tends to stick to the "one thing" that matters most. And sometimes things are opinionated 2:43:09
He only stated that he don't know someone he love as much their mix and both masters, he didn't see he doesn't exist he just talked about his experience you are just taking it personnally, I can understand
say* not see sorry, he even said that they certainly would have people in that situation but he not encountered some
Great interview
