  • Through 32 short video profiles of Irish people in Britain, we introduce our digital series for St Patrick's Day 2021 - We are the Irish in Britain: county connections. Each clip features someone from or associated to a different Irish county and together our 32 profiles take you on a virtual tour around Ireland. We asked our participants to kindly share a favourite spot from their county and what they would like to say to other Irish people in Britain after a tough year.
Comedian and actress Alison Spittle tells us all about why her home county is a hidden gem itself in her video.
Alison is an award-winning comedian, writer and podcaster. You can hear her podcast Wheel of Misfortune on the BBC Sounds app and hopefully see her live work soon.
Her hometown is Ballymore, near to one of her favourite spots the Hill of Uisneach, an ancient site where the goddess Ériu - where the name Éire originates - is supposedly buried. There’s more than one shoutout to Joe Dolan and an interruption from a London pigeon in her video below.
Go to We are the Irish in Britain: county connections main page and see the other counties featured, www.irishinbritain.org/countyconnections.
