enjoyed watching you tear this tractor down. as a b2100 owner, and currently have a b1700 in my shop, i purchased the b1700, was told the #2 cylinder was low on compression, and the engine has some blowby ?. after i got the b1700 in my shop, first thing i did was pull the rocker cover, low and behold, the # 1 rockers were not even on the push rods ?!. put the rockers back on the #1 cylinder push rods, set the valves, installed valve cover, she cranked right up. sooo..the #1 cylinder was a dead cylinder..lol. engine did run when it was loaded onto my trailer, not sure how the tractor ran ?.but it ran !..lol. as for the slow cranking ?..get a starter improvement relay, helps big time for the starter, this relay draws 12 volts straight from the battery instead of going all through the wire harness, installed one on my b2100, and this b1700, now both of them crank right up fast.
