Thank you garth so much for showing us the chords to help the poor. For years I have been searching for someone to show us the chords to help the poor. Again thank you so so much!
I was watching the video of your performance of this here on your channel (again) just a few days ago and trying to learn and understand why what you do on this song appeals to me so much that I’m considering taking up your kind of blues playing even though I’m basically a singer/songwriter, and here you give me the exact best starting-place lesson (a curriculum, actually) I could have hoped for! I’m apparently drawn deeply to the same jazz-chord tonalities as you are. Thank you so much, Garth, for your skill in teaching this, and for the timeliness of this video that is sparking my late-bloomer aspirations!
Your superb insight into chord voicings provide such a wonderful texture that makes everything else really "standout⚡WOW⚡" material, Garth. And, thanks loads for posting...! ✨🌈👋🥴👍✨
A friend of mine is Norway had one in the same color and it sounds great too. I had a black one that, while it had the exact same hardware, sounded very different.
Thank you, Garth!! Hey man! I've been playing my version of this tune since hearing Robben do it on the Talk to your Daughter album, but your embellishments are outstanding, inspiring, and understandable. I'll be stealing as much of this as I can coming up. Be well my old friend!
Re your comment about using the major 7 (at14:53): that's the 7th in the harmonic minor scale. I notice you mix the major, natural minor,, and harmonic minor. I dig it!
Wow! I'd love to see the chord chart for your version of this song. Robben's version of this song is fantastic and you really do it justice. One of things I'm really focusing on, with my playing, are cord variations. Do you have any recommendations on the best way to build cord vocabulary? Thanks you so much for this video 😃
For that Am on the 12th fret I got- X 12 X 12 13 X. Am7 and easier on the hand. Great lesson. Cheers.

I have a ‘93 Robben Ford in that color. Yours is the only other I’ve seen.😊
A friend of mine is Norway had one in the same color and it sounds great too. I had a black one that, while it had the exact same hardware, sounded very different.

David, write me at garthwebber@live.com and I'll send you the chart I have.
You probably don't want to play G minor tonality over a B flat seven chord.
Garth, Im only guessing but your attack, timing and phrasing seem to have a lot to do with predominantly down stroke picking?
Yes, I prefer the sound of down strokes.
