I disagree. Platform strategy is used widely by most auto companies around the globe including Maruti and even Tata before the new models arrived. Maruti has the baddest reputation of using same parts across their budget and premium cars. What really worked in Tata's favour is the design language and better product. This pivot essentially can be linked to the Nexon launch. Also what worked for it was govt policies pushing EV where Tata happened to be the only car maker in the small car category to offer an EV which essentially earned it mkt dominance in EVs. This ended up pulling in more people to the showroom and buying either EV or ICE products which were now way better than any Tata car in history. However, going forward, Tata does need to focus on fit and finish of the cars as people buying cars of 12-15 lakhs and above do care about small touches like even panel gaps as well. The electronics keep failing which needs to be fixed and Tata service centres are pathetic even today. This is an honest opinion by a Nexon EV owner.
I want to bring viewers attention on the fact that Tata Motors 70% of the revenue and approx 81% of Profit after Tax comes from JLR group and Tata's passenger vehicle segment has negligible contribution to its revenue
