It bugs the hell out of me to keep hearing that the Dark Ages are called that because society descended into barbarism after the Romans left. The Dark Ages got their name because of the lack of records from this era. The Romans wrote stuff down and we've found their writings. After they pulled out, the written record disappears for a couple of hundred years, thus our knowledge of that time period went "dark." The Britons left behind didn't go back to living in caves and grunting! They continued to live as they had, and even innovated to improve their lives. They just didn't leave as much stuff behind as did the Romans.
Great doc but why does everybody use endless loud music? You don't need it, most of it doesn't fit the situation, also you can't have things like piano playing while someone is talking.
I missed her name but the lass with the dark hair has a fascinating accent. She must have learned her English in Ireland, but I have no idea what her original language was. I love a good mixed accent!
@@jonnylumberjack6223 I’m not at all an American and English isn’t my first language so yes, I do need to make more effort than you. While grammatically it’s perfect English, while it may sound cute/charming/whatever, it’s difficult for the poor foreigners like me to understand her 😉
Yeah, it’s a little bit ridiculous to pay for premium UA-cam so we don’t have commercials and then still have commercials. It’s not just History Hit though, a number of them do it.
Whilst the vid is dated as being posted 2 month ago I would have appreciated some clarity about when this was filmed. I started watching thinking this was a 2024 dig but transpires it is a few years ago and i'm still not clear if it was all filmed in the same years dig

The gift that keeps giving. What a fabulous historical site. Brilliant archeology.
I always learn something new and Tristan is an excellent host. Thanks for all you do!
Wonderful. Keep up the good work

I agree, she has this foreign accent overlayed with a northern accent. Such a unique mix 😊

I found her difficult to understand due to her accent, alas.

I am growing to hate History Hit. Breaking in with overly loud ads is not cool.
agree. although add pay for the videos.
Ad blockers are a thing.
Also, stop using the app and use a browser instead.
