I have a pyr (almost 4 mos old). I strongly recommend hiring a trainer. The difference in Louis’s obedience skills is amazing, and he has only had three in-home lessons.
Be persistent and use the same words. He will learn but it'll be a bit tougher since hes in his terrible 2's for the next year. Put the leash on every day and say "come" when he stops; keep saying it and pull on a short leash. He'll eventually get used to "come" and the pulling and walk himself. Also idk if your a man or woman but men can train dogs better because dogs instinctively have a leader of a pack/family that is an alpha male. It doesnt matter but always be persistent. Also if you put him in a kennel and he howls tell him shush in an assertive manner. The first day mine was in a cage my wife told me not to say anything and after 20 minutes of whining I told her(the dog lol) shush 3-4 times assertively and she didnt make a peep the rest of the night. GL persistence is key.

We have a 4 month old great pyrenees. We adopted him also. But he is so hard to train some days. Did you guys have issues, too?
