LOL! As you were going along I skipped to the end to see the final. Then I went back to where I was when the model was still dark red. I thought why did he use such a dark red? He will have to do a lot of layers, why not an orange base color. Then you mentioned the problem with the dark base and you had to set the model aside for a while. That fact makes this a very good video. We all have our 'Why Did I Do That" moments. And for once someone shows us how to fix things. Everyone else makes it look like they did everything perfect the first time all of the time. This video is a great teaching tool, more so than most painting videos.
Love the fact you use vallejo and that you are not GW focussed. Personal taste ofcourse but I don't like GW all that much. I started painting again recently after a 10 year break. Your videos are one of the reasons I invested into vallejo this time instead of GW paints. The other being that all 5 of my old 10+ year vallejo bottles were still very much good to go after some vigerous shaking. While my 20 GW pots had all dried up so much to be unusable/beyond saving (thick clumpy goo to rock hard) without exception. I let your videos help guide me for the colors to get (model color... Dont have an airbrush). Love that you show the bottles colorname.
I only have a few Citadels... I do not even check if they are still usable. But I do agree, most Vallejo paints, specially the Model Color range are usable even after decades of not using them. A bit of stirring and they are good to go. 😊🎨🎨🎨
I'm not usually into cheesecake style minis, but I like this one. It's got some chub to go along with the big ole coconuts and Don Approved Cheeks. Somebody needs to make the male counterparts; dudes built like heroically burley construction workers with huge axes and plumber's cracks.
"even though it's not a face but at least it has a couple of cheeks" priceless 🤣🤣🤣
Yes. Haha! I am patiently waiting for my busts for face painting. 😅
A couple of cheeks 😏😏 🤣🤣
Maybe more. 😅
Them some thicc brush strokes
Yes bro. 😅
I like how you include the problems you encounter and the steps you take to correct them
Thanks bro. I think people can relate to frustrations and might learn a thing or two on how to refine them. ☺️
Great video! Are you allowing time between layers or does the paint dry fast enough to just go as fast as you can mix the next color?
The paint dries fast enough... but I live in the Philippines and everything here dries fast. 😬
Love your videos Don, I find your tuition very infromative and easy to follow. Thanks man!
Thank you Dave. Appreciate it so much. ☺️🎨🎨🎨
15:50 yeah you don't say lol, we herd you trying not to giggle Don lol cool video bro keep it up.
Haha! Tried not to laugh bro. Thanks as always for watching! ☺️🎨🎨🎨
Hey Don, how's going? I've subscribe your channel by youtube, how i get access on your discord?
Oh no! My old discord is infested man. I no longer visit it. 🙃
Skin videos are never enough bro! 😅🤣🤣 Great content as always Suratos Sensei 🙇🏻♂️
Hahaha! Most skin painting with some upcoming busts then. 😅

Awesome video! How long did this model take?
It took me 2 sessions as I got frustrated with the ugly stage at the middle of the video. ☺️
Hi Don, congratulations for this tutorial, you have made a leather that looks real. Saludos!
Thanks Francesco! But the skin looks like leather? 😅
Yes !
Awesome advice as always Don 👍🏼
Thank you as always for the support bro! Appreciate it a ton! ☺️🎨🎨🎨💙

Googling "cheesecake style" bro. I love these cartoon looking stuf, since this is how I draw. ☺️
