I graded (26) Pokemon cards through Gamestop! PSA 10 ratio is lower than sending to PSA yourself! 👀

    That Christmas anology opening had me rolling, that was spot on, well done 👏😂 glad you got a Venasaur 10 but I agree that I do think the 9 looks better even throught the camera

      😂 ya bro gonna resend the Venusaur and a few other 9's. See what happens. Moving forward,
      I bought a centering tool and got a uv light to check for surface scratches.
      Most of the grades did come back a 9-10. I just need to get better spotting 9's over 10's.

      @CrashRips Some LCS have them, but I got mine on Amazon, along with a graded card binder that holds 72 cards. I'll show it off when it comes in.
      Oh and bro, you do alot of fun & expensive rips on your channel. I'd 100% get one and send some of your banger cards out through Gamestop. When they come back, I'll def watch the PSA return video!

    Most of the low grades were due to terrible centering. Recommend getting a tool for checking centering. It will definitely help you.

      You're 100% correct! I had a guy who professionally cleans & sends cards out for grading for ppl look at all 26 cards. He explained why 7 Lumineon & the 8's got their grades.
      As for the 9's, he showed me the parameters at which PSA adhere by.
      He recommended a few 9's be cracked & sent back. As for the rest, he didn't think any would grade a 10.
      Btw, I just purchased a centering tool off Amazon for $10! Should be arriving by Monday!
      This will definitely help in the future.

    I’m also noticing a lot of 9s and 8s returned from PSA GameStop. Something isn’t right

    • @GrimmRipper88
      @GrimmRipper88  13 днів тому

      PSA was definitely harsher at first. But since ppl who are more experienced have also started sending cards in, the grades got a little better.
      Some ppl I've seen literally took a bunch of cards to pro pre graders, and did videos on cards that were 99% 10's. The rate was an average of 80%
      Some actually were 100% with at least 20 cards.
      But, keep in mind, these ppl had 10+ of the same card that got pre graded ahead of time. Lol

      A pro "pre grader" explained the Lumineon wasn't a 10 bc of surface scratches with a UV, and centering. He said it still could have gotten a 8 or 9. I didn't think PSA used UV, and thought they graded cards with the naked eye. Smh lol

      You're spot on! My eyes always see a possible 60/40 wiry centering, which is supposed to be good enough for a 10. What I'm not good at is zpooting hard to see surface scratches, and what's acceptable in regards to edge fraying. I've seen one or 2 white specs often pass for a 10 as well.
      Throw it all together, I'm not perfect with what 100% qualifies for a 10. That's why most of the grades ended up a 9 or 10.
      I need to be better, that's for sure.
      Thank u for commenting/watching! I appreciate it!

    • @GrimmRipper88
      @GrimmRipper88  Місяць тому +1

      Honestly, I have no clue. Even tho I live in NJ, PSA orders usually get sent to Cali. NJ is basically backup when Cali is overloaded. It wouldn't surprise me, though. They are more harsh with their grades than Cali.

    • @timmythelord
      @timmythelord Місяць тому

      @@GrimmRipper88 I live here in Cali near Santa Monica Beach. Sending in cards to get graded has been brutal for me as well. On the day of my bday I pulled a SIR Charizard from 151 and a full art in the same pack. And my other homie pulled a moon kitty. We both sent in our cards together. His came back as a PSA 10 and my card came back as a PSA 7.... Even tho my other homie looked at my card which was a supposed come back as a 10 grade. My card came back damaged.

      @TheRealMicCease Місяць тому +1

      One way to find out if your submission was in fact graded in NJ is to track your package. When I was tracking one of my submissions I was like wtf because it was being sent back to me from NJ and I live in California lmao. Only 1 of my 4 total subs so far has come from NJ. They were indeed more brutal on that submission lol

      @@TheRealMicCease I can't check lol. I don't send the cards to PSA myself. I go to my local card store in Santa Monica. That's how I send my cards to get graded.

      @timmythelord What a nightmare! Best case scenario would be to contact them and send emails with pics of the cards b4 grading then after. They may or may not own up to damaging your cards. If they don't, I'd crack it open and either sell raw or send through a LCS. Ask the expert to fully analyze and clean the card. Then give u a pre grade they think it will get. I've done this with some expensive cards over the yrs.
      So far, I got three 7's in the last 71 cards submitted. The Wartortle had 2 print lines I actually missed. The Charmander was actually badly centered, and had scratches on the surface I saw with a UV light. Also, there was some white chips and fraying on the edges. The Lumineon? I don't see why it got a 7. If it were an expensive card, I'd bitch. I just cracked it and gonna sell raw.
      I had a 151 sunzard that got a 9. The card looks replaced. I sent an email with pic comparisons, and requested compensation. They emailed me stating it's the same card and nothing was tampered with. Took it to my lcs, and was told it had a low chance of grading a 10 bc of the centering. I still have it bc it's the only 151 Zard I pulled.
      This is what sucks about getting cards graded. Sometimes u gotta take it on the chin and can't retaliate when u get kicked in the d1ck..

  • @johnnytheyoungmaestro
    @johnnytheyoungmaestro Місяць тому +1

    This was good, but I do want to let you know that unfortunately, just because you sleeve the cards and put them into a card saver afterwards, doesn't mean that they'll be in perfect condition. I've learned from my own experience the you can actually damage your card putting it into a card saver, no matter how careful you are, so be mindful of that. But otherwise, very cool!

    • @GrimmRipper88
      @GrimmRipper88  Місяць тому

      This is so true! It could cause bend lines, corner dings, etc. I HATE putting cards in savers. I'd prefer top loaders with team bags. Only reason PSA doesn't prefer this is bc they're lazy. If they dmg your card, they're responsible. It's easier for them to cut the cards in savers instead of loaders.
      Thank u for the heads up and thanks again for watching/commenting! :)

      I'm shocked PSA graded that Venusaur a 10, when the other looked better. 😂
      Honestly, I had a guy who cleans & sends cards to PSA with an 80% avg 10 return study the grades.
      He charged me $20. Anyway, the Lumineon 7 & 8's were explained right away. Lumineon had surface scratches with a UV light, off centered. He said PSA could have given it a 6, lol.
      As for the 8's, edge fraying, miscentered, and corners were the reason.
      As for the 9's, he recommended I send back the 9 Venusaur, Arceus, and a cpl other 151's. The rest met most of the parameters.
      Then he looked at the 10's. He said if I sent back all the 10's, half may come back a 9.
      All in all, he looked at the 26 cards and stated 12 were 10 worthy, tge rest weren't.
      So, at the end of the day, the grades may have been fair enough. Then he explained even he's at around an 80% average at recommending which cards to send to PSA, and he does this for a living.
      I'll mention all this in a future video.
