Awesome video. Enjoying the channel so far. I have a question, if you were pregrading a modern full art/sir, etc and the only flaws that you find are the print lines (grid pattern), is this one you would hold from sending or do you think PSA is lenient on gridlines? New to grading, thanks for your input.
Me personally, I take chances every time on print lines. If the card meets all my pre-grading criteria, and the only thing is print lines, I'm sending it 100% of the time. Now saying that, I have not gotten a 10 on every card with print lines, but I have gotten 10s on some really big cards that had print lines. Again, this is just what I personally do and I make no guarantees on getting certain grades. Thanks for the question and for watching.

@@AlexBoib that’s awesome to hear you are getting back into collecting. I would be very cautious of submitting cards through GameStop or any other third party. In my opinion, everyone should submit cards themselves, as it is very easy to learn and do. Thanks for watching and subbing.

Nice. I really like to have some can air or a handheld blower fan around. Also phones nowadays have such good cameras on them you can snap a high res image and see all kinda stuff.
I truly appreciate the kind words. The plan is to continue to share the things that I've learned and that have helped me along the way. Thanks for watching and the sub.
CGC Black Label Pristine 10, IMO looks so much better. I have PSA and CGC in comic book (graphic novels) NBA Cards and Pokémon cards using both but prefer the look of the Black Label.
The Black Label definitely looks so much better, a lot harder to get than just the typical PSA 10. The market loves PSA 10s for some reason, so that's my go to grading play for high volume turnaround.
So I’ve got a Skarmory, top border is thicker than the bottom border but the two side borders seem about fine just because the top order the bottom order is off doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t get a 10 it’s still aesthetically pleasing in it ratio?
For PSA, the standards for the front of the card when it comes to centering is a 60/40 ratio. In my experience, even though a card meets the 60/40 minimum, it's still very noticeable that the card is off centered, which bumps it down to a 9. If you look at a card for the first time and the first thing that jumps out at you, is that it is very noticeably off center, then that is what I mean about being aesthetically pleasing. I've also taken chances on cards where it was clearly off centered but it still came back a 10. The more you grade, the more you will start learning on what cards you can take chances on. I hope this made sense, and remember this is also just my opinion.
Yes your input and video have been very helpful, I’m waiting on my first 7 cards to come back to have my first experience, but I’m just about ready to send 12-16 cards in, I’m a bit worried about the centering (atleast how it’s graded) just because the top to bottom, even the small black lettering at the bottom looks a bit squished or to have little room compared to the top, overall the card looks great I myself just trying to be picky; Would you send in a halo card, the seems like maybe there’s a small chip on the top border?? I’ve got a shinny charmander I’ve been iffy on because I notice it overall looks great but would it even be worth it as a 9?? (Im guessing I’d be up to me an anticipation of its market right?) appreciate your help and interaction @
So glad to hear you find my tips to be useful. I'm always happy to help out. As for the shiny Charmander, what is the current value of that card as a 9? Then look at, what did you pay for it and what is the the total cost of getting it graded. My personal rule is I try to stay with in a $10 loss if a card grades a 9. However, there are always scenarios where I break that rule, but only if it truly makes sense. Basically, if the juice is worth the squeeze. Also, being picky in pre-grading is a good thing, it ensures you maintain a high gem rate.
@@David-ue7vv Grading is definitely subjective, but it adds value. Just got to be smart about making calculated risks to capitalize on the current graded market. Thanks for watching.
This is probably the best grading tutorial video. The best part is comparing pre -graded and graded.

They make a pokemon card centering tool so you have those rounded corners insted on the 90 degree ones.
