This has just as much of the groove and classic spirit of Jamiroquai, slowed down into a 70s pop disco ballad. I don't see how fans can complain. It follows in the same vein of what he was already doing, just more matured. Its great to see such a talented musician evolve.
When I started "Rock Dust Light Star" I too took a while warming up to it, but you're right, despite this album (and this song especially) being wildly different from the rest of their discography that goes heavy on the funk, disco, and R&B influence, it's still classic Jamiroquai. I suppose why many people don't instantly enjoy it is because of two things: the mismanagement of press it got (or lack thereof) and how it sounds very dated - like I could immediately tell that this came out in the late 00s/early 10s because of the percussion and blend of acoustic and electric guitar that was popular with top 40s hits at the time. Plus Jay's vocals are mixed in such a way where they sound crisp as ever (like he's singing right into your ear, if you're wearing headphones) which isn't inherently a bad thing, but it can absolutely take some getting used to; especially if you're listening to the albums in order and you're just coming off of albums like "A Funk Odyssey" and "Dynamite", where due to technological limits at the time of producing them and what was popular in the industry, vocals simply weren't recorded like the way they are here. Idk maybe I'm overthinking this lol. *TL;DR* The mixing on RDLS is just really weird, but it's still good lmao.

those are the roads of my home country. I love how Jay has always acknowledged the great driving roads in Spain.. I had the honor of meeting him as he began his tour for Rock, Dust, Light, Star and he was so cool and prepared for the show, we had a great conversation about cars from one enthusiast to another and he even mentioned the air cooled 1500cc super 90speedster he had just gotten after the Purple Carrera RS 2.7.. I unfortunately didn't see the white knuckle ride video since it had been released while i was catching the flight to Colombia to meet him.. sure enough, he ended up buying every single collectors-item drivable Porsche shortly after that show. What a guy, Love you and everything you stand for Jay!

Hahaha, you're joking right? Jamiroquai has been world famous for twenty years. They have incorporated jazz, funk, soul, disco, rock, electro, reggae and bossa nova in their music troughout the years. No DJ can beat real musicians like this, they can only sample it :D Go watch them live, you will be amazed. It's so much better then just listening to a dj spinning his turntable.

To all the dubstep-Jaimroquai-bashers: first watch a Jamiroquai-concert before you bash these brilliant musicians. Blue skies is far from their best music, but this band still has something wich is rare these days in modern music industry: the true funk and groove. This is something DJ's can copy or sample all they want, but it will never be as genuine .
They were shooting the video for White Knuckle Ride and said "ah, why bother, let's just get them both done while we're at it"

I listened to the " FaceCulture interview" of Jay Kay in 4 parties (2010), about the album "Rock dust light star". Very interesting to perceive the creative process, the sensibility and honesty of the artist in difficult moments that we can appropriate (" blue skies"), his vision of the world and the relativity of our condition, our absurd and vain behaviours in a reality that exceeds us (rock dust...", etc) . An interesting interview also, cause the interviewer knew how to ask the questions with tact.
