CNN just did a special called Deep in the pockets of Texas. The basic jist was that a few super rich religious zealots are buying their local and state officials with millions to vote in favor of their religious values. And they aren’t stopping with just state officials. They are getting to the congressional level too. Voting has consequences folks but not just at the federal level… who is running state government is just as important.

Senator Rubio's position is just ludicrous on its face. If he were admitting that he was voting against codifying same-sex marriage because he believed it was wrong for the country, I would disagree with that sentiment, but it would at least be worthy of some modicum of respect.

As someone who had a Dad in a same-sex relationship in the '70s until he passed away, I had to witness firsthand the hatred and cruelty of others. I cried when same-sex marriages became legal. I am beyond angry now that people will vote that down. If Pete Buttigieg were straight he would be the very best choice for the next president. Because of his sexual preference and his honesty that will never happen for him. I live in Florida and not only will I not vote for Rubio, but my vote and my money are also going to Val Demmings.
Its not a preference though, its an orientation just like being heterosexual. Secretary Buttigieg always comes across as having a highly efficient brain. His articulate manner, his obvious intelligence, his level-headedness -- all these things on top of being a really decent guy who never strays into childish behavior (Jim Jordan, Ted Cruz, Ron di Santis, even Rubio). It is important to have people in government like Pete. He reminds us (and reassures us) that there is a better way. We need to vote in more people like him.
Pete Buttigieg is the voice of reason during these unsettling times in the US. Why can’t America start trying to be a country of respect and love for one another? It’s becoming a country of hate and it is beyond sad to watch.

The most important aspect of same sex marriage is the ability of the spouse to visit in the hospital. Before same sex marriage was allowed, their partner was not allowed to be in the hospital room of a severely ill patient. Just imagine if a female wife could not go in and see her male husband after a life threatening accident. That is how they feel.
