Hi Aimee. Your bird house is going to be a bird bath if you don't have any drainage holes in the bottom or some gaps in the sides to let the rain water out.
Please don't feed the birds in spring and summer. They will give it to their babies and they can die from it. Baby birds need insects. Rather make nesting boxes and plant plants that attract insects.
Not a podcast, but a book series based around Scotland called Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Books in series are: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN AMBER VOYAGER DRUMS OF AUTUMN FIERY CROSS A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES ECHO IN THE BONE MY OWN HEARTS BLOOD TELL THE BEES THAT I HAVE GONE THERE ARE ALSO SEVERAL NOVELLAS BASED AROUND SOME OF THE CHARACTERS.
Yesss! I said this on the last video, I don't think they're big cat people and can't commit much to pets, but adopt some barn cats! They won't need much care and if you go away you could just leave out food - and they'll keep themselves fed on mice! The presence and smell of cats will also discourage mice from returning.
They could be barn cats/outdoor cats only if you are worried about travel. They will take care of themselves for the most part. Just build them a little shelter...a kitty motel?
From the very first second of this video, I could not get over how this last week you both seem to have shed 10 years off your faces. Craig, you were just glowing while in that digger. Amy, your face was radiant, even in the gloom of the tool room. Obviously, after the long wait for occupancy, you are in your element, building and creating your dream spaces. So good to see you so utterly happy! Thank you for sharing the joy of even the smallest triumphs in moving those rocks and getting everything in order. It is such fun to see your vision emerging!!!
I can see a large stone patio with wood accents and an overhead gazebo with strings of small lights. I can see you having loads of fun, drinking wine with friends, laughing and sharing stories with other UA-cam friends. It will be epic!!
@@reina_do_marThey come for the bits that the birds drop on the floor in my experience. I still feed the birds because I enjoy watching them and I have only ever seen two 🐁
I hung my bird feeder from the roof of my house and the birds were picking at the feed and dropping it on the ground where the rats were eating it..if you don’t want rats and mice don’t feed the birds…sorry birds but it’s the only way
Amiee as someone who spends his day ,repairing and building stuff, for folk ,I admire that you are having a crack ,as so many of your generation, don't even try. You will get better the more you do. To this day ,I'm still learning
I agree, it seems to be a repeating phenomenon that for completing projects, one always seems to get the hang of the mechanics about the time you finish the project. Plus the way you get better is to build or make more than one. With each iteration your control and design ability will grow into better looking/functioning items. You go girl. Good job Aimee.
You could mouse proof your bus by looking for and sealing holes, covering sink drain, storing all food in mouseproof containers, staying on top of crumbs, disinfecting the area everytime you find a turd (they leave their smells behind to attract family & friends) plant peppermint and oregano in window boxes and keep the boxes around/under the bus and open door. Grow lots of peppermint elsewhere too. Mice find their way home unless taken 5 km away. You have thousands of mice in the fields around your house; you'll never catch them all....therefore deterring them is best. Bird food will attract rats and squirrels; you don't want either moving into your spaces. Owl decoys can be effective especially if you move them around. Rodents are very smart.
Bird watching really does creep up on you. One minute you’re traveling the world having epic adventures and the next you’re renovating a Scottish cottage and building bird feeders for the wood warblers and squirrels 🥰❤ Thanks for taking us along! ❤

Have you thought about doubling up the car park/ turning area with a basketball court? I think that would be excellent use of space. What do you think? (will that do Craig?👊🏼)
Purchase a mouse device that you plug into a socket. It makes a sound that only the mice hear....they don't like the sound....so it keeps them away. This will work for both your home and Custard.

vacuum seal the clothes you aren't wearing/can't fit in the bus, I think its less likely to get mouldy
To prevent mice from coming into your bus, spray the perimeter, including tires with peppermint oil. 1 part oil to 20.part water in a spray bottle.
Good idea. Peppermint and spearmint like Wrigley’s gum.

I will also say it as many others before me- get a barn cat! Just the smell of it keep the mice away :) and cat will be very happy in this much land!
My favorite 2 people on UA-cam!! I know u needed a rest and to sort things out, but not having weekly vlogs, I just realized how much I missed you! Very excited for this reno!! You are smashing it! Keep up the great work!!! Trev, B-e-a-utiful bird cafe!!!!Can't wait for the footage!!
So not lard, but Suet!! or suet cakes. Our birds love them too.
💜💓💜
Amy building a birdhouse is your BEST content ever!! 🤩🎉😂🫣
Suggestion. Store the bird food in a metal sealed container. Like a garbage can. To keep those cute little mice out of it. Nice bird condo Amy!
Since you have so much spare time on your hands, why don’t you do two episodes a week! One is not enough. You are so entertaining! Love you guys!
Well you guys are just “Kinging it”. I love you two and how comical you are together…. “Dig On” .
One of your funniest episodes 😆 Amy & I are birds of a feather 😉
