@@thehighlandlife2023 Absolutely, we are in SW France, the air source heat pump in our 200 year old farmhouse copes most of the Autumn / Winter / Spring. However we still burn 2 m3 of wood in the log burner. Plus we can cook slow stews.

I would definitely recommend keeping the fireplace! Heating systems can fail from time to time AND a real fire can be absolutely healing and romantic sometimes ✨☺️ good building!👍🏻
I'd take the existing stove out - it's designed as a back boiler so I imagine it won't work as efficiently as a new stand alone one. Make sure before you scrap....pull out all the copper, brass, pewter, and drill bits. I wish I had mentioned it when u cleaned out the barn. I am sure you threw away some money. Separate these items into individual boxes. These items are where your money is! Pick up around the job site. Copper fittings for the plumbing...extra wire from the electrician...keep it all. The rest of the metal in your scrap pile will be worth less than the items I mentioned. Good luck with your cottage. It's going to be awesome!

Been waiting for this update! I found you guys about a week ago, started with the renovation and am now working my way through the travels, you guys are awesome and make me laugh out loud, a lot!
Plans looks outstanding now remember that don't panic when things go bad or slowed down that's all part of renovations you will get there don't over extend yourselves ! If have to do it in stages some of your outside plans could take a couple of years ! We bought our tiny home in 2001 around 700 square feet plus full basement is a full basement! Furnace room laundry and sewing room now working on family room sadly Joe passed away Feb 2020 so getting it done myself with help with my twin and a friend help me put up a new ceiling that was biggest job ! Took from March till July! Then work got in the way ! Sofa was delivered on Friday now working on recovering an old rocker hope get it done in a week ! So close will be ready for Christmas the room is 12 by 19 feet good size very happy so far now to get sewing ! But every stage is exciting enjoy every moment be proud of what you two accomplish each time you work on it as your vision comes to life ! So you don't get discouraged you will get there ! Time on your side I am 70 so not as much time as you two but I enjoy working with my hands ! Congratulations guys you are doing great ! Sad that Joe no longer here but we did build a Studebaker pickup hot rod fromm 1999 to 2003 and took to shows for many years that was our big achievement we loved traveling in the truck our happy place like custard but cannot live in it ! But it's okay Joe came in my life later at 44 years young had amazing time with him and celebrate him everyday ! Cheers ! Thanks for sharing

Im imagining once its done Kara and Nate will come over and stay that will so fun. Want to see the finish product❤
so excited for you guys can't wait for the build videos 👊
WOW!!!! Your property is going to be epic! Can't wait to see the final reveal! ❤😊 Sending love and best wishes from Minnesota, USA!
Thanks so much for sharing your progress. It's hard to believe that it's been 7 months already! You 2 are a living example of one of my fav quotes "If my Mind can Concieve it - And my Heart can Believe it, then I cna Achieve it." Keep on Kinging-It!!! Namaste
Its gonna look amazzzziiinggg!!!! Wow
I have to say I'm pretty damn impressed at how much you've accomplished!
It's great to feel your happiness 🤗 you make me happy just looking at you both.
I know it's going to be a lot of hard work, but I hope you keep your zeal❤
Amazing progress.
I put a Woodburner in last year and would say if anyway to keep a Woodburner in Whisky Snug keep it even if house as cosy as anything in freezing winter with wind blowing a hoolie watching logs burn just the best thing it gives instant life to room when you come back home 💜🥰x
Edit the wee bit at top of stairs my soul sisters house has same feature....we ripped her house out 30 odd years ago...that area she kept big fluffy cushions, blankets and books with a window to watch the clouds and stars x
I agree! We moved to the Scottish highlands 2 years ago into a house without a log burner 😭 and we are looking to get one installed because it’s just sooo cosy having one. Plus always handy to have another form of heating x

The robin knows where to live- the Fat Bird Cafe is just next door! Still waiting fpr a children's book- The Adventures of Custard the Bus. And now, you can write one about the robin in the fat bird cafe! You guys are so stinking creative, it's AWESOME.
Ever need a break in France- house swap, maybe ;-), you're always welcome.
When it gets to furnishing your cottage I highly recommend Annie Mo's (Aberdeen on Union Street), Fraser's of Ellon (Ellon) , Anderson's (Inverurie) and Stirling Home (Bridge of Don, Aberdeen) as someone who has just finished renovating a very similar cottage in Aberdeenshire - such a labour of love
Wow! You did a LOT!👏Its going to look stunning!!🤗😘
Kinging-It is absolutely KILLING IT!!! I’m so excited for you guys!!!
This is why Sundays are my favourite! You guys should turn your barn into a an indoor spa! It has the perfect aesthetic with the stone walls!
Loved this video you guys!! Sundays are my families new favourite day because it means a new video. Absolutely obsessed with all the progress so far with the house, it’s looking amazing!! I cannot wait to see the finished result. It will all be worth it in the end, and what a great adventure you are both experiencing. 🎉❤
You’ve got this! Blessings🙏🤠❤️
Well done lads!! Love the outdoor spa concepts! Going to be epic.
These plans are as incredible as Craig's jacket!
Totally full lives. So excited to see the next steps on your build❤
its going to be fab when your done, You may not own the view but you can control what you see with some planting. Keep the log burner or replace with some kind of fire, that will work if you have no power! Living in remote places, it's always good to have a alternative way to heat or cook if the power goes out, even if you have backup power!
