    It's November 2024 and I'm out in the Alberta Canada deer woods hunting for big Whitetail Deer. I hike out deep in the back country before sunrise and find a spot overlooking multiple funnels. I am hoping that the deer move through some saddles between several hills. I try scents, grunt call and rattling to see if this will Draw in a big whitetail deer.
    Can scents, Rattling and Calling Draw in a BIG Alberta Whitetail buck while hunting?
    I'll be posting weekly deer hunting VLOGS all fall. Please follow to see my progress through the hunting season!

      Thanks, man! It's all about the experience, even when things don't go exactly as planned. It was pretty thrilling to hear those grunts. He was obviously a bit leery... not peak rut although I heard yesterday that people's cameras were going nuts with deer activity.

      Happy New Year! Thanks for watching! Zero need to apologize. I know I'm behind on videos, too, but making my rounds... we took the kids to a surprise vacation right before Christmas and then with all the Holiday and New Years gatherings , I'm fallen a couple weeks behind on others people's videos (plus missed a week of my own production streak).
      I hope you had a good Christmas and are off to a good start to 2025.

    great video, never had luck rattling in big deer in iowa but for scent i always went to my hunting areas many times before the season, pissed on the ground, rubbed on trees, rolled around on the grass so the deer knew me, then when hunting i always used a light mist of vanilla. that made the deer curious, always had deer moving around me, i also liked a fawn bleat it would bring in does and in the afternoon the big bucks would be looking for then. i killed several huge trophies in my days hunting in iowa

    • @DCOutdoors
      @DCOutdoors  4 дні тому

      Tons of great tips Dan, I used to worry about peeing in areas but do the same now. Sometimes I urinate right in deer scrapes just to get the deer curious. Vanilla is an interesting idea, I'll keep that in mind but I've heard that one too. Iowa has some giants! That place is known for big deer.

    • @DCOutdoors
      @DCOutdoors  Місяць тому +1

      It’s definitely a mixed bag with those tactics, I can’t say it’s consistent. I would say that I have seen deer after using grunt tubes, rattle bags and can calls - and the same with using scents. So I have no reason to think that they ruin a hunt and can't harm anything trying. I'm blown away by 2K. Can't believe so many people care about the videos and adventures. The support is amazing. Hope you're having a good season. I know I've fallen behind - work has been a gong show, but hope to make my rounds to your channel again soon! Take it easy.

    • @DCOutdoors
      @DCOutdoors  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Dave, I have a plastic sled that I use to pull in my gear, especially if I'm out with my blind. I can throw my backpack, seat and blind all in the sled and it makes it easier to get into the bush and get the gear out. I use it to recover game too. It's the same sled I use for towing my ice fishing gear onto the ice. I also use it for moving wood around camp also.
      On this hunt, I didn't bring the blind so I didn't bring the sled, but it's always in the truck for game recovery!

      Hey Donald, I've been using Doe Scent near my blind and then a Doe Estrus and buck urine in the Tink's scent bombs wicks around me. I have been using the Conquest VS1 on mock scrapes around my main blind. I try grunt tube (1-3) soft grunts. Then, a light rattle sequence. Then I do the same with a heavier rattle sequence and then one more heavy sequence. I do this rotation hourly or thereabouts. We've had bucks and does come out to it.
