First off, thanks for this awesome video. It reminded me that I had gone back to the base tune, and forgot to fix the PWM and assign it to a pin. The reason you are getting the high RPM at initial start is because changing the IAC config (as you describe) makes the TPS AUTOSET no longer valid. You must perform a new TPS AUTO SET. This is done by connecting your laptop to the ECU (or use the handheld) and select the dropdown menu next to the two circular arrows in the tool menu at the top of the screen (next to the PIN MAP button). Select TPS AUTOSET and follow the instructions on the screen. Thanks again, buddy.

Terry Hobbs - Glad you liked the video. Thanks for the tip on resetting the TPS and where to find the settings, not the easiest to get to. If you look at the TPS% in the video it does show 0%, so the 100% parked IAC was what was causing it to start and run at 2500+ rpm. I think I had it set to hold for 5 or 10 secs and then it caught it and idled down pretty good. After I lowered the park position to 40-50% it worked better. This cam was kind of choppy and 900 rpm idle was the smooth, sweet spot. Anything less made it hunt all over the place. I always forget to save the updated version and load it into the computer. LOL

Do I need to go wire it to output 4? Or is it already wired from holley that way?

Get the engine at operating temperature..
Unplug the IAC & set the desired idle using the throttle blade screw.
Shut it off and perform a TPS Autoset
Now plug in the IAC & you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the tip. Yes. That is how it should be done but you have to change the IAC settings before the IAC will actually work. Hopefully Holley will make those changes in the base setup, so you don't have to mess with it. This was an earlier version. Have fun.

@@foxairandheatinc8345 correct. the Ford IAC has no change from 0 - 40% then it's linear from 40 to 100%.
Certainly have to play with the settings to get it working correctly for your application.

@@kevin_nagle once you changed the setup from stepper to PWM it worked fine. The base tune on my Terminator X loaded the stepper by default and I couldn't get it to work until I changed to the PWM and readjusted the settings. Worked from 0-100% and pretty much linear from what I could tell.

@@foxairandheatinc8345 If you put the IAC Position in a scatter plot you'll see that from 0-40% it's almost a flat line then from 40% to 100% it's a linear change.
Correct, anytime you do an initial setup you have to manually go in and change the type to PWM as the software will default to Stepper. You also have to adjust the frequency as well, it will default to 0hz, I have found the 300 - 315hz range works well.

How exactly did u wire the iac? My mustang 5.0 kit. Is confusing me. Ive assigned the Pwm to output 4 like u. So pin b3. But in the fixed outputs there is iac A high and low and iac B high and low. Those are b1,b2,b8,b9

I just used the iac plug and harness that came with the mustang adapter harness, didn't change any of the pins

Hey one more question?.. Is there a base timing setting ? How do I sinc the actual timing to what the ecu thinks it is?

@@jacobbock5720 you shouldn’t be messing with it if you don’t know. There’s videos of this stuff search it man.

Better to get a gm adapter and use stepper then u don't waste an output

Thanks for the idea. That's another way to get it done too. Just figured using what's already there and just changing the settings is a lot easier for most guys. Just needed to know which settings to change. Still have to use an output to control the IAC anyway so you are going to use that output regardless.

Ya im not sure what the terminator comes with, I have a holley hp for foxbody and it came with a plug for a gm iac then I didn't have to use an output

@@88_turbo_fox73 we got the fox body harness kit with the Terminator and it plugged into the factory IAC or wired to it (don't remember). No adapter or GM IAC needed . No matter which sensor you use, you will tie up an output to run the IAC. The output was already setup in the software to run the IAC but the settings were wrong using the base map that Holley supplies, so that's why it didn't work properly. Once the settings were changed it worked fine. No rewiring, no GM IAC needed.

@@foxairandheatinc8345 Thats good then, the harness that came with mine came with a 4 pin iac connector for gm iac, seems to work fine, I don't think the gm flows as much as the Ford iac

After switching my iac to the correct output when car is keyed on engine off my iac clicks over and over is this normal?

    • @foxairandheatinc8345
      @foxairandheatinc8345  3 роки тому +2

John Pina - I typically dont notice it cycling or clicking. With the Ford Fox body harness, I didnt change any of the wire locations on the harness, just the PWM settings and made sure the pin was assigned to the correct location. Hope this helps.
