    Very fine explanation on dam construction. Bangalore 25-06-2014
    One doubt: When a diversion canal is constructed before construction,
    will it be used as high level or low level canal? Please clarify.

      Sir, I saw the video. But my question remains as it is.
      1) Is the diversion canal closed after dam completion?
      2)Does diversion canal form part of dam?
      3)If not closed, does it create a hollow space
      very adjascent to dam?
      Will you clarify?

    • @psychicspy1234
      @psychicspy1234 7 років тому +1

      hi,i will try to answer you
      1) no they are not closed after dam completion
      2) yes they are part of damn
      3) Diversion canals have their own purpose,they act as storage dams,reservoirs and also to raise and lower the level of actual dam storage ,am talking about cofferdams.
      I might be wrong too.there are atleast 6 types of cofferdams depending on the depth and soil conditions.
      i will edit my answer if am wrong.

    Concrete mixes "cure" during solidification. Heat is generated. I understood that Hoover dam (in USA) flushed cooling water through pipes to cool the mix so that the pours wouldn't over heat and cure haphazardly.

      River flow is diverted through the bypass tunnel as explained in the video. The Tunnel remains operational until the dam construction is complete. so that the construction activities can be carried out. Tunnel ends are closed by vertical gates at both ends once the dam becomes operational.
