That's a dam interesting video!
Water brilliant pun :)
And an interesting dam video too.
Is this a god dam?
Darn , dagnabbit , and consarnit , anyhow .
we gotta get the dam energy bars
Most interesting.
The first use of so-called hard hats is interesting, also.
One thing wasn't mentioned: over one hundred men died in the construction (pre OSHA).
We done the tour it was v interesting !!
We were told the 1st man to be killed and the last they were father and son , and also the son was killed on his father's anniversary of his death.
@@user-zj4gz9tr8s What a coincedence!
@Stephen Dailey a dog always has to die. When Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsed, a dog also died. RIP doggies
Visiting The EMPTY Hoover Dam In 2022‼️
m.ua-cam.com/video/PVnNYvz614k/v-deo.html
I’m a truck driver & saw the Hoover Dam on my way to Las Vegas. It caught me off guard. It’s massive!! Perks of working in logistics. 🥳
Did you ever play euro truck simulator 2?
I live in Arizona now and have drive by (on my way to Vegas) and visited Hoover Dam several times. It's always a majestic site to behold and now I appreciate it even more!
The Hoover Dam is absolutely gorgeous inside. The art deco is breathtaking. If you ever have a chance to take the tour, don't miss it.
I remember visiting the Dam on my Honeymoon we flew over it first in a helicopter and it looked "small" mind you the Grand Canyon is massive only did we realize how big the Hoover was till we drove to it and realized the sheer enormity of it from ground level; the round cylindrical buildings are over 20 stories ABOVE water level! Also, the tour is amazing and one to definitely add to the bucket list if you ever find yourself in Vegas or in Colorado. One interesting fact mentioned on the tour is that this was not the initial location for the Dam but finances dictated it be located here...
Joe Lyons where was the original plan?
Hey Devin Heida
“Hoover Dam” or “Boulder Dam” was originally named Boulder Dam. That’s because the initially planned site was at Boulder Canyon about 10 miles north upriver from where it is now located at Black Canyon. An engineering reassessment moved the location from Boulder Canyon to its present location. Apparently, finance and communication network (roads etc) meant the cost was too prohibitive even though it was way more suited to that location...
@Joe Lyons The Hoover Dam is nowhere near Colorado.. Lol
I remember taking the tour in August 2001, and again in 2003. The tour had changed substantially due to 911.
@Joe Lyons Are you still married ?
I had seen the dam a decade before. What a sight of this huge dam!Unimaginable for any normal man by its sheer dimensions and height.A symbol of human endeavour and American technological superiority.
OMG ..what a beautiful well done amazing job!!! I was there in 2000 and it still takes my breath away... unbelievable when everything was so difficult to built because they did not have so much of the power tools like today..so much work and so much heat because Arizona and Nevada is so hot in the summer and so cold in the wintertime..hard hard labor..poor people ..And done to perfection.Until today its still standing strong. Great strong Heroes!!! They sure have a special place in heaven.Today's roads and streets are a mess, today they use asphalt instead of concrete..Lol and it takes them years to only patch the pot holes....
A stunning engineering and construction achievement for its day. Everyone who visits the region and drinks clean water and enjoys electric powered air conditioned comfort owes them a debt of gratitude.
It's possibly the most impressive structure I've ever seen. I grew up in Chicago. The dam is around 3/4 of the height of the John Hancock tower. Mind boggling.
Very impressive for the dam that was already there. Mud flooded. It was a dig out.
Oh man, the story is so fascinating. hats off to the people who made this possible.
Ngl I came here from tiktok by a lot of curiosity 😂

Is no one gonna mention the fact that the Hoover Damn was constructed around Megatron and was made to hide him?
lol yes but megaton was moved there, it was built around the Allspark. but hey, it works, I wound't mind if it was built around Megatron

I Salute all the Workers Participated in this MEGA Project and the Administers, Visionary's Behind this WONDER......
You should do a video on the architecture of Downtown Las Vegas and The Strip.
Oh it’s in hand don’t worry. We’re sending Fred to Vegas on a “research” trip.
As a fellow Brit who has lived in Las Vegas, and goes most years, I will be happy to "help" Fred, with his "research" if you buy me a ticket. I have my bag packed!
Ah, so this is where i led the NCR to victory and flung lee oliver off! good history lessen
The NCR would like to know your location
godDAMit where is the allspark and megatron huh?

Great storytelling!
This is dam impressive honestly.
Was there two weeks ago. Very impressive! All this without computer aided design.
I love this channel!
Probably the classiest project the B1M ever undertook.
The look of the area, with stone walls on the cliffs held
in place over the roads with vintage heavy chains. The
awesome art-deco style of the overall architecture, the
quality of the craftsmanship and the quality of the
concrete itself, still hard and smooth from the day.
And the brute size of this idea - what were they thinking?
It cannot be made today in America.
The generation needed just doesn't exist anymore.
This .... is ICONIC.
(Don't forget about the concrete span too!
More dramatic than anything in NY.)
It's still a staggeringly impressive structure and driving across feels like flying
Went to it a few months ago! So cool!
Such a treacherous job it's what created hard hats! 🤯 Incredible, every man that worked on this project was a badass and should be commended greatly!
I like how this UA-cam channel talks about engineering which I LOVE
Great video, and thanks for the quality content! Just a minor correction: 6:11: 4.2 Bn KWh is a quantity of electricity not an output. For that to be a meaningful number you would have to say something like "per year" in which case there is no need for the 'hours' in the first place and it can just be given in KW.
@1:20 umm Boulder city is southeast of Las Vegas not southwest
Absolutely amazing
Why isn't anyone talking about free soup?
What do you mean? Free soup was common in the depression.
No one really starved during the depression. One of the first times in history - most economic collapses in prior centuries (including 19th) were due to famine, and if not, it was something that affected only the rich.
vote for Bernie Sanders and that's what you will receive
The Hoover damn really is a sight to behold.

The most beautiful dam in the world the Hoover Dam

Damn ! What a dam !
The Dam shall Brake Open to Release its Treasures to All - and so it is - Blessings.
The reason this is such a famous US infrastructure project is because the US has stopped investing in projects benefiting the people.
That's not really even true. It's just that our nation and infrastructure needs are already long since built. What makes this one of the most famous infrastructure projects is because it was a world first (first of it's kind), and is still unique in the world (even though there are much larger dams now). The U.S. still builds all kinds of infrastructure projects benefiting the people, but most are just not as large scale. Meanwhile in countries like China, they are building the projects they need (and have not yet built), to support their national transition/industrial revolution/growing urban areas. There is close to a $Trillion dollars in roadway/freeway/bridges, light rail, subway, high speed rail, airport terminals, and other infrastructure projects either under construction, or in the planning phases in the United States right now.

So we’re all from tiktok huh
Joe Scott prompted my visit. 5:35 .... Ahh the days where things were AHEAD of schedule....Rather than delayed, forgotten, or forsaken.
Wow beautiful information , These men from the old generation use to work like machine .
മല്ലു ❤️❤️
Masterpiece. From India. ♥
Great Documentary!
I still marvel at the bold plan and even bolder implementation. Many of the workers were more than just unskilled labor. Their were master carpenters building indicate forms for concrete. Look at the Canyon walls where concrete is poured. Looks like the concrete fits walls like a custom 'glove'. The scalars on the rock walls removing loose material that could compromise integrity of dam required balls bigger than the dam. Today this would still be considered a massive project that would yield massive benefits. The Desert Southwest was changed forever by the Hoover Dam.
This is so dam cool
Engineering works at its best!👍👍
Nice pool
Come from tiktok .
Crazy that Megatron's in there somewhere
That was a really good video, thank you.
50 sqft is not 15 sq meters. perhaps you meant without the sq.
iwbagiai Yes. 50 s.f. is probably right, and the conversion was done on the single dimension.
I made the Kessel Run in 14 Parsecs .
IETCHX69 A parsec is a distance; about 3.26 light years.
Without the square? But 15 meters is just a line, so it would need the square in order to measure area like square feet. Did I miss something? Because I feel like 15sq meters (which is about 45sq ft) is close enough to 50sq ft to be used as an approximate measurement.
@@tjpprojects7192 15 square meters is 161.46 square feet. 50 square feet is 4.64 square meters.
Had to look this up and get some answers and more information good video
Amazing making
One of America's great achievements.

And they built this in the 1930s. Pretty amazing.

Geez there are some smart people out there.
I couldn't even really understand this video. And they actually built the thing.
I've been down into the dam interior. It's just as impressive as the outside.
Oh hey I remember foiling the assassination of an important political figure on this bridge!
