- Someone needs to teach me how to properly bait out Cone Breaths. Best start I had so far was 2:48 phase 2 into 5:50 phase 3 with 1 horn break so you can imagine that this time can still be pushed down by quite a bit.
The fight is overall pretty terrible but I am not turned off by that.

I remember watching this a year ago! I was trying to hard to find this video again. Your switch axe play is amazing. No zsd spam and amazing axe positioning with perfect timing. A true master of switch axe.

BTW is evade window level 1 necessary for fatalis? Is it hard to evade its attack without the skill?
Do you mean evade extender? I‘ m asking because I actually have Evade Window 5 pn rhe set. I have it wince there isn‘t really any other combo skill that is better than evade window and it is really comfy too. Evade extender 1 is there for the sake of better positioning/punishment specifically against cone breaths as well as it helps me in phase 3 to roll out of range of cone breaths since cone breaths are much more lethal in phase until you break the horns the second time.
Would you say that this style of play when optimized correctly can keep up with the ZSD spam nonsense? Swax is my favorite weapon in the series but I absolutely hate ZSD playstyles, so I've lately switched over to primarily using my secondaries--GS, CB, and Hammer--instead of this beautiful weapon
Yo I'm in the same boat. For me, it's kinda boring to see lots of SA runs spamming ZSD. This run right here really taught me how to fight Fatalis with proper ZSD timing instead of equipping rocksteady and spamming the hell out of it.
@@azurecca Yeah. Proper usage of ZSD to end off damage windows doesn't bother me at all. It's all these turtle ZSD builds that I just really can't bring myself to enjoy using. Just feels like it loses some of the charm when you reduce it to just an explosion stick instead of utilizing the whole kit.
Though one thing I observed from this video is that the damage from sword combos seems higher in comparison to ZSD. So I can imagine that a properly optimized sword play-style like this could be downright nasty when using mantles, even if it's not as safe and mindless as just spamming ZSD

Beating ZSD spam aka non TA is hard to say right now since I don't know where it will stand and I have no idea where the limit for TA will end up being (I believe sub 11 will be the endzone). Opting for an optimized sword play-style in combination with mantles might be able to beat it but you would probably have to run heroics as well to make it happen. I don't like ZSD spam either but unfortunately it happens to be the most optimal way to play Switch axe in most cases, at least if you're playing with mantles.
@@kekko5729 Well thanks for the response. Does help me feel more comfortable with the idea of playing sword-style instead of ZSD-style since we're not really talking about a huge difference in kill times, such as 5+ minutes

Layered is from halloween event back in 2018. Not sure if there is a way to get that anymore though.

I think axe mode is necessary for mobility, but attack-wise you need to find an opportunity to switch back to sword.
