Love how you get the natural light coming from the window and view of the trees. But when I open my curtain all I see is the neighbors home blocking all the sunlight.
You could consider setting up an image wallpaper behind your monitor, and putting some light on it.
Or just blow up you neighbors house as a little friendly reminder that he is stealing all your fantastic light.

mine even worst, its the wall of another apartment building and tall trees blocks all kind of sunlight the whole day. Wish I move somewhere else.

Andy Warhol did that, or something like it. He would clear everything off his desk, no matter what it was, into a box and call it a "time capsule". There were receipts, rotting applecores and the like. You name it. After his death there were like 600 they had to go through.
But mainly I agree. I've done the same thing before.

lol my desk isn't evne IKEA it some off brand weird one, I mean it works but it is scuffed, it has a backboard but surprsingly it worked well to just attach my wires to the backboard and it hides them all and If needed I drill holes in it to move stuff directly under the desk.
All IKEA tables I build myself break in half a year

I think he meant that with direct sunlight in a surface every bit of dust appear, especially on dark surfaces.
That's why I always have a microfiber clothes next to me when I'm on my PC :-)
I tinted my window because of this.

My favourite desk item I have is my IKEA ALEX monitor stand. It is white, fits on top of my desk, hold my monitor and has space under it for storage. This allows my to tuck anything away that I don't currently need--like my keyboard and other peripherals.
Monitor arms. Not only do they create lots of space underneath your monitor, but they allow you to ergonomically adjust your monitor to relieve stress on your eyes, shoulders, arms and back.
+DoubleSpoiler agreed but I swap monitors every week to try something new. Monitor arm not ideal in that case.
Discovered this by accident recently, great tip!
I did added a monitor on my wall, it's pretty hard to install, but worked very nicely, and to replace monitors are actually kind easty since the mount and arm can be disattached by hand

Nice tips and really digging the black and white theme. Currently building a IKEA Alex shelf monitor stand with Captia legs for my standing desk. Only wish we had an IKEA closer to me in the States.

No matter how many times i clear up it gets messy again i just use some of these things so often that having it right next to me is convenient, no need to even reach
My girlfriend and I go on about this. She sees a mess on my desk. I know where all the things are. What kills me is when she decides to "tidy up" and I can't find anything.

If you need a larger desk buy a pair of drawer units and a kitchen countertop, might also need to buy a support leg for the middle. Ikea sells all of this stuff.

Is no one going to talk about that sick matching pan shot transition when he demos the two color schemes? Perfect way to demo it. The only thing that would have mad it cooler would have been if you waited till the sun started going down to really show the difference.

How do you cope with only 1 monitor
There are a number of cases where a single monitor aids in productivity. Multiple input angles break concentration, particularly in graphics creation or design aspects. Watching the matrix is not always as beneficial as it seems.

Some people just don't have the money
I'm the opposite, I used to vouch by multiple monitors then moved back to a single monitor and now I feel that I focus a lot better with just a single display.
nice tips. already do some of them already like colour coordination and keeping it clean. but my window has a really crappy view of a water tank so natural light makes is only achievable in the morning and the view is really bad.

Or just get the JBL LSR305 / 308 which are even better than what all of you all mentioned. :) Tested Yamaha and Rokit, and not even close.

I find that a Rubik’s cube on the included triangular stand makes a nice decoration to a desk and is nice to fiddle with during loading screens or whatever

My concern would be heat and UV fading or yellowing certain plastics over time, even through Venetian blinds.
