I could watch this all day. So COOL!! At first I thought modular was too much to learn but I'm slowly starting to realize that it's not much different from using an FM synthesizer (like Yamaha's DX7). Inspiring work my friend!
@@aneveningwithebola2727 I'm with you there, it looks so intimidating at first. The thing about it is you basically take an oscillator and link it to effects before it reaches audio output (which also needs to be set up in a module and linked to the amplifier). The idea I feel that's the same is the way it uses stacking and modulation. In Eurorack there literally is every parameter that can already be found in an advanced DAW. In this case however you are creating everything from the ground up (basically making a synth). This even includes things like automating an envelope to trigger when a note is pressed on the keyboard as the envelope needs to be told what to do. The most compelling thing about modular I think is the way you can use innumerable gates, clocks and sequencers to easily create elaborate sounds with. I have so much to learn myself (I keep taking breaks from modular and focus on everything else), yet I hope to eventually be able to use it to its full potential one day. I hope my answer helps a little. In terms of 'where to learn', I think YT here is a good start. I'm thinking of finding books at the library (where I am they also offer free sound design courses there). Also, I'd suggest learning about Cardinal (a free modular synth). If you're passionate about it like myself definitely try and learn periodically over time. It's like they say, 'Rome wasn't built in a day'. All the best of luck to you. ;-)
Yeah, the sidechain effect on the compressor module was a bit strong. I noticed that later as well. Planning to adjust that part of the system these days. Thanks for letting me know. Cheers
@@ninando_ Maybe try sending some inverted envelope of your kick into the bassline VCA for sidechain ducking, and dailing the compressor back to a more subtle "bus compression" setting.
@@boydw1 I have 2 small compressors (WMD MSCL) in this case - one for sidechain ducking, another for parallel compression. It works fine, just didn't finetune for this particular track. I don't have any VCAs in this rig - prefer the gritty sound with VCFs only.
Incorporate either a laptop with ableton or a decent sampler. An octatrack is popular with a modular set up and is very tweakable although an mpc is also a good choice as well as a rytm. Process your samples in whatever daw you use. Dont just " go dawless" because thats just a stupid ego trap that will stunt your growth.
@@nepntzerZer - I really hope he doesn’t start using a DAW. Maybe an Octatrack like you say, real-time sample manipulation and creative transitions. Going DAWless isn’t an ego trip, it’s whatever suits you. I’ve tried making tracks totally in the box, after all, it’s pretty much free to try if you’ve got a decent pc/Mac and know where to get the software from. Had fun at first but the novelty quickly wore off. In my world, computers are for Word and Excel. Granted the percussion here could be stronger but that’s just mixing. Everyone’s different 👍
@@nepntzerZer tbh I like the way it is ;) don't want to spoil the fun with daw.. agree, drums could be better, it sounded great on PA when I was jamming
Bitbox Micro, MiniMod, WMD Drum modules + Metron.... well played, I have a lot of that kit.
Really good use of everything in this rack. Nice to see a euro with so little wasted space!
Excellent stuff! Love how your playing them filters live.
Great Bass, and Real music on a modular
Great work. Good to see and hear someone really playing their modular!
Thank you Neil!
This rips! Has some Darkwave/EBM vibes to it, too.
nice!!
very good !!!
Extremely valid vibes

What is the similarity, if you don't mind? Cause I love FM synthesis but I have trouble wrapping my head around Eurorack.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. Thank you. Subscribed for more.
Thank you, great to hear that!
You earned a sub with this one my modular friend...
Cheers 👍
So sickkkk, surely there is such an eeeeeeeaaassssyyyy way to mirror this so it’s available to view in the first person
thanks! yeah, just needed to rotate the video by 180 degrees in the editing software - will do that with the next one! cheers

just checked it out - great track! 3 note basslines rule.
well done and nice rack.
Thanks mate!
I like the composition & sound design, but the sound quality goes to shit when the kick comes in - overcompression or something.

I mean, always ways to improve but it is also a live Eurorack performance on UA-cam. Pretty sick work…
4000 quid. Worth .. mate that’s good but bit like waving sausages to a pooch .. as yer quite normal as in … nothing new sounding ..
nice rack, but this is not industrial nor techno tough:)
Thanks for the feedback. How would you call it? - Electro?
@@ninando_ Yes, I think that fits much better
Laurent garnier bassline ;)
@@manx748 Not really :) but I guess it sounds similar as it's also 3 notes bassline (I assume you are referring to the man with the red face track).
Your drums aren't good enough. You need to make them slam.
Working on it!
