Mumen Rider vs Deep Sea King is unironically one of my favorite Anime fights of all time. For the whole two-part story, every single hero who stood against DSK did so with the full confidence that they'd succeed. And any time someone wasn't sure they'd succeed, they wouldn't step forward to fight (like the hero who tried to surrender in the shelter). The *only* exception is Mumen Rider. He went in with the full knowledge that he was going to lose. But it didn't matter--he had to buy every second that he could. In the end, he wound up saving the lives of Genos, the other heroes, and every single person in that shelter. If he hadn't delayed DSK for a couple minutes, all of those people would've been slaughtered by the time Saitama arrived. Fantastic writing.
There's a lot of people in the comments section talking about how great mumen rider could be with a super serum, one for all, or even mjolnir. But what they don't realise is that mumen is a parody of that very trope. Sometimes, the good people don't get any rewards. But this fight is a beautiful example of how you don't need superpowers to be a hero. Without realising it, mumen rider saves everyone here by delaying the sea king until saitama's arrival. He doesn't do this because it's his plan to hold out until reinforcements arrive. He fights because he cannot just stand there and watch as people suffer.

It’s interesting how mumen riders ideologies are the exact same as a majority of anime protagonists. Yet the message is so much more poignant. Whereas a protagonist would usually be on the frontlines. But it’s the fact that we KNOW he won’t win, even he understands he won’t win, but he won’t back down regardless. Mumen rider really is the true hero. I get so emotional every time he’s on screen.
mumen rider deserves his own driver system.
If you are brave, than you're not weak
This scene actually made me emotional
punch so strong he changed the fuckin weather
No matter how weak the character is they always make it seem like they have a chance
This moves me.
This man shows what a Hero truly is; someone who is not concerned by his own strength. But to.protect civilians at any cost. To keep getting back up.even when he has no chance to buy time with not fear but sheer will to keep people safe. It isnt about the fame. It isnt about the money. It isnt about how much he is outclassed.
I think i felt my cold heart beat.
Dog The music stopping that had me crying laughing
I wonder what would happen if Mumen rider got a Green Lantern ring.
I wish My Hero Academia got a hero like Mumen Rider
Get this man a green lantern ring, will of fuckin' titanium.
Mumen Rider is all the parts of being a hero that Saitama isn't. He may not have powers, but he has the heart and the spirit of a hero. He made those people believe that he would help them, that they would be ok because he was there. I haven't seen the most recent season, but Mumen Rider is such a perfect foil for Saitama. Combined, they're the best their is.
Omg thank you for this! There was one previously uploaded but I guess it got taken down. I love this!
I would KILL for a manga spin-off for Mumen Rider that branches off if he broke or surpassed his previous limiter during or after his fight with Sea King. Probably would get some training with Bang to be a more competent fighter in the series.
One punch man shows how powerful humans really are, the human spirit he shows is in all of us, we always overcome, we are built for being the strongest.
