Hi Sam. The bar is about 58 1/4" including the thickness of plastic caps at the both ends. I don't think there is an option to choose different length. You might want to check with Diamondback. Hope this helps.
I just got a Ram w/rambox. Have you look at another/ different set of legs that would raise up the bars and not interfere with the rambox? Can you show a picture of the rambox open and where they touch the box? Great video !
Hello Tony, I am not aware of other leg options from DB. The bar does interfere very little. I think a rubberized tape is enough to prevent scratches or markings. Otherwise, cutting ~0.5” off of each end of the bars may do the trick. I’m uploading a new video soon discussing the overall build of the DB cover, rack, and rooftop tent. Stay tuned!
@@pnwlifevlog Thanks for the reply. I did call DB and they referred me back to Front Runner and see if they can make a taller leg. The trick is to have 13" clearance on the under side the bars. That will allow the box door to open and not touch the bars. I don't know what the 'thickness' of the DB cover once installed on the truck. I know the legs are 6.5"
@@paliswood Got a measurement for you! It is about 2.3 inches including the rubber gasket underneath when it is pressed. if you are considering installing an RTT and want to minimize the wind resistance while driving, you might want to double-check the total height including RTT. Good luck!
Haha I guess that’s fair to say that! For me, it is for a rooftop tent. It’s been great! Haven’t had a time to edit, but upload a video of installation soon.
Hi underscr0e, I decided to install it because 1) the middle cover with track may be useful in future adding versatility and be used by itself since both covers can easily be detached 2) it is much easier to install them compare to the other ones, might as well install them. Hope this helps!
@@underscr0e Yes, they are pricey. However, If you do need rail mount racks, I suggest Front Runner brand because the metal standoffs are thicker than other brands. I heard of 600 lbs rated standoffs being torn apart over a few years with only 100 lbs dynamic weight.
a nice setup. I'm also thinking of getting the diamondback cover, but I'm hesitant because it can't be opened with a rooftop tent mounted. How's your experience?
To me, it hasn’t been an issue because I can still access things all way inside the trunk. Please check out a video on my trip to Utah for a simple drawer solution. In case loading a tall object, I think it is doable because nothing is screwed down on the truck-bed. I think it boils down to how frequently you need to load big/tall items.
Are the bars easy to remove when not using the rack? Keeping the track attached but is it difficult to slide the racks / arms off when not using the rack?
Thanks for the video. I received my Diamondback HD with the same Front Runner Rack system for my 2017 Raptor. I installed the Diamondback cover yesterday and today is the dreaded day of drilling into this brand new cover......... Thanks for the tips. It was helpful seeing the methods you used to line everything up consistently. Is there anything you would do differently once you finished? My IKamper Mini will be delivered tomorrow so I must take the plunge today and start drilling! Thanks again. BTW, I decided to go with the 3rd mount on the center section. Wasn't sure if it was needed but thought I would include it for additional support.
Hello, T Palmer - Luckily no regrets so far! Trust your eyes for measurement. I recommend to use a center punch and hammer dimple holes before drilling to keep drill bit in place. I have a few screws not fully flushed because I didn’t do this. Good luck!
Great video! I was curious, as I'm torn between the new smooth finish and the old diamond plate finish. What made you choose to go with the smooth finish?
I think it largely depends upon the design of your truck. Mine is white perl color with Rambox. I thought the smooth finish blends better with mine. It is actually not as smooth as you might think though. Still can see the roughness which is good to keep things from slipping off.
@@pnwlifevlog Appreciate it. I've been torn on which finish to go with. I like the smooth, since I am planning on going with the Front Runner rail / racks to mount a RTT. The smooth seems like it would be easier to mount the rails. However, there is something about the ruggedness of the diamond plate that I like. I have a 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.
I have a 2020 Ram with Rambox. Its unfortunate that there are no real options for bed racks that reach roof level. You have the Nutzo but its not my favorite style. Theres also the Vantech but its rated for 150lbs, compared to others that hold 300-800lbs+. Not planning on carrying anything that heavy but its the style of the bedracks that I'd like to have options for. At times, I wish I didn't have the Rambox. The Yakima Overhaul HD is the best looking one, I think.
Hi Bradley, the both ends of the bars slightly touch the painted side of the rambox doors. Regardless both ramboxes fully open. I adhered thin foam stripes on the bottom edges of the bars to prevent scratches. Seems to do the trick. Hope this helps

Very helpful! I did remove the doors ... found it was easier to mark the drill holes while laying flat on my garage floor. Thanks so much.
Great job and you sold me, DB will be installing my rail system.😁
Just bought my Diamondback HD 2 weeks ago.. should be here in 2 weeks then the nervous drilling begins haha
After drilling first one or two pilot holes, you’ll get the hang of it. :) Good luck!
What is the width between the ladder rack? Can you still fit 4x8 sheet goods on top of the tonneau
It’s adjustable
Thank you for your videos. I was wondering if the crossbars interfere with opening the ram boxes all the way
Both boxes touch the crossbars when they are fully opened. This hasn’t been a problem for me.
Great video. What length load bars are you using?

It’s that the HD or the SE ?

Just wanted to know why you went with the SE over the HD.
My requirement is to install a 3 person RTT. We have used this for many trips. It has been great for our needs.
Another question, Diamondback SE can support 400lbs, what's the rack for? Protect the cover? Haha.

Will that glue around the screws weatherproof? Any update? These screws is dangerous inside, why not use screws with nuts?
I didn’t include it in the video since it is no brainer. Yes, all screws are fully secured with nuts underneath.
Nice video! What sealant did you use?
Used Loctile mold resistant HD sealant. Strongly recommend to apply rust spray on screws. I’ve learned in a hard way.

It is not plug-n-play, but is not difficult to remove. This product may not be practical if you need to repeat it frequently.
I understand with the diamondback cover, you can fold one panel down on top of the others. Does the rail system make it impossible to do that?
It is not too difficult to remove/mount the FR racks. However I installed a RTT on the rack. So, folding one panel is not possible for me.
NICE !

Yeah, the Rambox isn’t for everyone. I agree that there are a lot more options for racks and covers without the Rambox.
