It’s the final day of this experiment! If you liked this series and have any ideas of a drink or food that you would like to see me try out on the sim to go faster, comment below 👇🏼😀 Thanks for watching and Subscribing 🤗👍🏼
i bought dirt rally 2 and wanted to see who was fast then came across your world record attempt video on dirt rally 2. We dont have fanatec products in south africa, so i just bought a cheap logitech g29 as my old wheel is shite. When it arrives i will drive that same rally race and see how badly you beat me haha xD.
I'm a gamer and I never used anything to boost my skills I control my emotions, Hard work, effort, determination and Jesus is my God, Never give up, I hope it's useful too.😊😊😊
That shit always cracks me up, the guy is determined to let him know that he will not have the damn Drink and he is like "is it on or not?" The whole time lmao, he never found out if it was on or not
If you drink alcohol, that will be next logical step :) It would also be a good demo of the detrimental effect on focus and reflex (I've driven under the influence in ACC, and it's a great incentive never to try this in real life)
Shit I get extremely focused off of 5 beers...sometimes winning races by over 4 seconds...of course I won't do this in real life...but on a sim I do better slightly intoxicated than I do completely sober
Upvote for this idea. I get a few ideas for the BPM (don't let yourself get worked up too much, keep it calm) but the brain wave thing is next level sports science stuff.
Drinking alot of energy drinks will only make you slower if you don't have them. They might work for a little bit if you otherwise never drink them but in general you're more consictent without spiking on a sugar trip. The body quickly adapts to the massive amount of sugar you put in you and all you do is grow a dependancy. Its generaly better to train yourself to preform when tired or finding your focus without resorting to an unhealty short term sugar boost.
The only thing that I different is the fact you knew you weren’t driving with an energy drink today. That is a confounding variable, as you knew if it was an energy drink or not each time, but either way the many energy drinks you had didn’t blast you into crazy excellent territory, which is a result I think that stands pretty well. That was an interesting bit of experimentation, thank you for doing it..
@@Max__apex I gotta second this - it might not rate as the most 'accurate' sim, but there's a huge community around it. It's worth a quick go at least, just to try it out.
As a control, I'd love to see how water (hydration) might help. Also, I'm glad you are doing this (and not me) - I make weird faces when I concentrate lol...
What about trying different music genres for mental preparation? Complex, methodical music like classical. Simple, methodical music. Dynamic, dramatic music. Angry, energetic music. Chill beats. Eclectic, fun, weird music. Music you've known your whole life, with positive associations. Etc. Probably would take maybe 1-2 hrs of listening in the background while you go about the house, pre-video, then leave it playing during your sample sim period. Some people swear by metal, or rap, or etc for workouts and combat sports training. But one of my guys and I completely independently prefer lo-fi chill hop.
Very cool series! I thought this last video was going to be all of the energy drinks mixed together hahaha. Not surprised by the result of being more consistent without the energy drinks, though. Very surprised by how different they all were.
Totally agree 100%, they've never helped me too in anything, sports, work, making out. Performance went down every time. I reckon they're only good when mixed with other alcoholic drinks. Nothing beats a good night's sleep.
That would be interesting! Though possibly a bit more involved for daily prep. She mentions a couple times she's kept the same breakfast every day -- fruit and yogurt. This also happens to be a combo I found was light enough with good energy curve for mental/physical awareness, at least for about 2-3 hours. Protein heavy meals, carb heavy, veggies only, processed sugars instead of grain/fruit/veg-based carbs, etc.
Good video. As much as I agree that energy drinks won’t just straight up make you faster, it’s also a bit of a case where you have been still practicing more and more on the same track in the same car and would be improving regardless. So although this maybe proves/shows I suppose that energy drinks won’t make you instantly so much faster, it can also be that you are already at the limit of the car on that track or at least near it anyway so at the end of the day really comes down to practice and gradual improvement. At the end of the day if you’re combining the right hand and foot movements over the course of a lap then you’ll get the best time possible regardless what’s in your system ;) Gj on making these videos though was interesting to hear the different things the different drinks did to affect you and how you felt whilst driving :p
Ideas... Try different alcohols at different levels. Like so many ml of Guinness, then up the ml over an amount of time. Redo the next video with a different beverage. Or play a drinking game with your driving. Like, if you spin, you have to drink. Or if you get a certain time in a certain section, you must drink. Or sim with different cars on different tracks with different drinks. (I think we all just want to see you drunk lol) OR Redo the energy challenge, but this time double the intake amount.
You obviously have a great passion for sim racing, and you are very good at doing it. Would you consider putting together a series of tutorial videos on driving techniques and skills required to drive faster - but in simple, day to day terms? This series might include such topics as a corner at speed, grid starting, F1, sports cars, dirt cars, etc. Thank you.
Thanks Louise. Really interesting to follow your experiment! Really did enjoyed that :D cool too see how different they all made you feel. :) Really good driving aswell :)
Seeing as you're also from the home of the Empire.... Tea and coffee? And then perhaps changing what you eat of a morning to British classics like porridge or cheese on toast etc
Pre workout shakes you're on the wrong video lol gaming stuff is completely different gaming stuff is based of nootropics which is to help the nervous system because exercise and competitive gym based things put serious stress on our nervous system which is why gaming stuff is based of nootropics plus gym shakes aka pre workout shakes will make you fat drinking it doing nothing
Operations X Gaming he's not talking about protein shakes, pre workouts are extremely potent energy and focus supplements that will put any energy drink to shame...
Operations X Gaming you realize a of new preworkouts have nootropics I them right? They also use supplements for energy that don't interfere with focus and supplements to aid in muscle fatigue. I used them for yrs in and out of the gym and they are nothing like unfiltered energy from energy drinks. In a good sim rig that wears you down pwos could be a huge advantage..
OH Would you mind doing the same thing again with coffee? Just a black cup of coffee can cool it first so you can chug it like the energy drinks. This avoids the sugar high and low and all the other additives in the in energy drinks and focuses just on caffeine as a variable.
I don't know which was more shocking for today: the final episode of GoT, or when you said you are not going to drink any energy drink in this last episode 😱😂😀 By they way, great video, as always 😊😉
First, my sensible question... I wonder if 6-straight days of constant practice on the same track may have had any effects on the outcome? Second, my semi-irrational question; or, at least impractical and socially/legally-unacceptable... for you as a professional anyhow... I wonder if a more elicit supplement might effect an improvement or a hindrance. There are definitely chemicals and compounds that are banned in some of the more popular/reputable sporting agencies because they, put very simply, "create an unfair advantage" for the individual using them. Though, I have heard far less about how, aside from the known & potential long-term side effects, they create a hindrance to an athlete's immediately relevant performance. I'm not suggesting you test any of them. However, I am suggesting that with advancements in chemical and medical research, as both reportedly and covertly advanced, as they probably are and are often claimed to be, in addition to how advanced they likely REALLY are with regard to military and private sector secret research, it becomes difficult to believe that we are not yet at a point of scientific advancement in which we can improve our cognitive and reflexive reactions without detrimental effects to our health. No? I even have this crazy notion that I thought I heard M. Schumacher state once in an interview that drivers at his level, and ones backed by so many millions of dollars worth of investments, often receive IV "supplements & vitamins" at the track and just before races. I have to wonder just what it is they are receiving...
Most of my PB were achieved while heavily drunk. Trying to hit the same times while sober is imposible for some reason. Don't drink and drive IRL, just go to your favorite sim and blitz through your favorite track.
Cool Video. You did most likely also progress because you get more and more used to the car and track everytime you play independent of the fact if you had an energy drink before or not, wouldnt you agree? Maybe you can do some Kind of „weekly Challenge“ where you set fast Times on different Games which we can try to beat ;)
What about... Doing a lap before and After workouts? You could try different workouts from the easier one to the more difficult ones.. or maybe yoga or things like that XD that would be pretty interesting. :) Or maybe.. try to Imagine and simulate a complete perfect lap in your mind and then Jump into the game and replicate It. Love your videos!! Cheers from Italy
Do you have the results for the heart rate monitor averages for these videos? Would be interesting to see that. Also the brain activity monitor and what that indicates.
Is that the Silverstone '03-'09 Gran Prix circuit? Forgive me as I've not raced on that one. Also, what made you choose that circuit specifically? I've played the to-date GP circuit there, and it's way more technical than it looks. What circuits have you sim'd, and which are your favorites? Also, what sim are you using. I love to sim, but I just have limited experience between different sims. My favorite is the Nurburgring Nordschleife. As soon as the Gran Turismo franchise included it, I spent literally a whole month doing nothing but learning that track.
Are you going to make video about those brain wave stats? 🙊 Super curious how brain works while driving and how energy drinks/breaks effect to it. I have drunk a lot of Red Bull and I have see exactly same effect to gaming (had to stop drinking them while trying to play competitive, since the effect was so big). I have stopped drinking since I saw this video series and really feel like they are past for me
There is one substance that clearly proven, tested and without any doubt enhances my speed in sim racing (mostly rallying). It is not caffeine, any kind of alcohol drink or weed(this can help also just a bit less). I ain't gonna tell what it is or anyway want to promote a substance that is illegal in most countries(maybe like 99% of them).
Like, this is an old video so maybe you're not reading these now, but did the new personal best come from any tricks you came up with during the, uh, mind-expanding Red Bull experience? Getting helpful ideas while you're on the drinks but not needing them to actually perform sounds like a good outcome!
You should try Xite Energy, I have been drinking it for a while, Super smooth and defiantly increases my concentration when i really need it, Natural caffeine as well so no massive drop off either in being more alert
Thc gives you a hyper focus for a short amount of time. I'd love to see what sporting records would get broken under this influence. I'd say the first hour of being high is a positive effect, after that, you get a slower reaction negative. Although I've noticed that hyper focus can randomly peak sometimes. Maybe it can be controlled. It's definitely not a consistent option in my opinion. But the effects on focus is very interesting.
I know this experiment was a year ago and my suggestion isn't something you'd probably even want to try. But I'd be really interested in any difference between caffeine and nicotine 🤔 For straight up focus without hyperactivity I find it dramatically superior.
So, when it comes to practice vs supplement, practice wins. Maybe supplements can help, but don't count on it. Also, holy hell, your heart rate jumped waaaay high there for a bit, lol. I wonder why that is
