I just received a bottle the other day, and I've swatched it but haven't filled a pen yet. When I compare samples it's darker and more saturated than Montblanc Burgundy. Noodler's Burgundy is more reddish/pinkish compared to Writer's Blood being more brown. The closest I can come is with Diamine Shimmering Wine Devine, which basically looks the same except for the added fine gold particles, and I wouldn't be surprised if they simply removed them. Whatever, it's a nice one as usual from one of the best ink makers.
Thanks Mick, good review. I enjoy the Reddit group as well. It's a deep rabbit-hole. Diamine have done so many inks in this area, like Burgundy Rose eg. It also reminds me of a couple from Birmingham Inks, although they don't have the sheen. I like sheen that limns like that.
It really pays to shop around for Diamine inks (I don’t use any other brands). Buying the 30ml bottles is a bit of a waste … more expensive per ml and difficult to fill from directly. The 80ml bottles are aesthetically pleasing and practical. Some of the shades are very similar, almost identical, and viewing samples on a device can be misleading. Great ink from a long established British company.
This is great stuff. Sits side by side with Diamine’s Oxblood. A bit more purple to my eyes. Very friendly & well behaved. The perfect companion for use in my TWSBI Draco Ltd Ed (m). Highest recommendation.
Got mine and it's a very nice ink, I agree with you all down the line. I use it every day and it is right in their with my favorite other ink colors: Standard Bindery Old Friend, Noodlers Nightshade, though this is lighter and more lively than either of those.
For once I got something on release day being in the UK. I find this a wet ink and my Kaweco Brass Sport medium nib loves it. 👍🏻 The colour is just superb to my eyes in the wetter pens and I don’t like it as much in drier pens whereby it tends to run light and more Red shows through. 😃 A great ink.
I've found Diamine ink for even less than the average United States price on the eBay store for the Online Pen Company (Pilotfish Trading Company) in the UK. I've gotten standard inks delivered for under $12 USD, $5 for the 30 mL bottle. Pays to hunt. 😁 Those are including shipping, too. Not exactly sure how a wine coloured ink represents the blood of a writer, but I have to say that I do like the colour. I've seen several reviews of this ink recently, and, like anything I've seen from Diamine, all fairly positive. Might be my next ink in the colour range... Thanks for sharing this!
You do great videos. I’ve also watched your videos of your singing and you’re awesome. Have you been able to get back into singing since the COVID lockdown? I really hope so.
I have a wall of inks here and this is my current favorite. And it’s SO WET!

Diamine inks are some of my favs. Monboddos Hat is a must have for me.
Monboddos Hat is Really good ink!!! Diamine are so reliable
That's a favorite of mine too, and although I've never seen a review I bought it just because of the unusual name. Happily I was not disappointed.
