I literally did the same exact thing just about a week ago been wanting a new Tacoma for a while didn’t want to be the guinea pig with the turbo four-cylinder so I bought a brand new 2023 Trd off-road. The only thing that I didn’t really get that I wanted was a manual transmission. and anybody that has a new Tacoma or a Toyota in general, there’s a guy on UA-cam called the car care nut. He has a lot of really good informational videos about Tacoma‘s maintenance and Toyotas maintenance.
Congrats on your new truck! I still stand by my decision so I think you made a good one. I think I know what channel you're talking about. That guy's definitely worth a watch!
Got this truck in August 2023, same color too. My last 4 trucks were Tacoma's and they are special trucks and you can't really know how great these trucks are until you buy one. A bit pricey, but worth every dime.
Congrats on your truck!! This is my first Tacoma. Hopefully she lasts forever. If the 4th gens turn out to be reliable 5 years down the road I'm not opposed to upgrading. But for now I'm very happy with my truck!
The regular hoods look so good. Awesome truck! The tech package adds a color-matched rear bumper, which is nice. Also keep your tailgate locked, bastards are stealing those like crazy now.
That's a great point about the tailgate! It's something I never really considered until I owned a truck. Especially if this thing is sitting around a busy city in my day to day life, it may as well be locked as I'm not using it super often. Thanks for watching :)
Really loving it so far. Already had a big camping trip, and the mat makes transporting gear so much more pleasant. No sliding around and clunking in the bed while you drive.
I purchased the 2023 TRD Pro for the same reason - the tried and true powertrain. Consider adding a Toyota OEM spare tire lock and a cat converter anti theft shield. Enjoy your truck.
The pro is definitely a sweet ride. I hope you got a color you like. I've had multiple people suggest the cat covers, I might have to look into that. I am enjoying my truck, I hope you are as well. Thanks for watching and have a great day! :)
I got the magnetic gray. But your lunar rock looks amazing on the truck. And like you, I had to shop around. Some dealers were adding 10K markups. Finally found one with $1K markup and $1,500 dealer installed options and $2800 distributer installed options. Out the door pice was $61,500 (Austin TX). By the way, you don’t need the tonneau cover to prevent bed mat theft. I have the bed extender. It presses down on the mat making impossible to remove - of course the tailgate has to be locked. Thanks for sharing your Tacoma with us.
I'm not surprised by your buying experience. That's a cool idea about the bed extender! To be honest I'm kind of losing the patience to keep the mat out of the truck until I get something for the bed. The mat is just too nice, and life is too short. I might just throw it in there and get over it.
Beautiful truck! I picked up a '23 for those same reasons. I have the mat and I wouldn't worry about it walking away. Too bulky for most to just want to carry away
Nice truck, my son got the same one this year in May. You'd be surprised how many variations of trim levels you can get on all these Toyotas Tacomas. He's already modified his by putting Rock sliders and ditch lights put black covers on the back bumpers, bed cover mud flaps and he got the front windows tinted I think you should get that if anything first. We got ours within a week of ordering it do the fact that we ordered it for my credit union it was such a breeze, it was so nice only because I bought my Toyota Tacoma the year before same process and three years prior to that with my other son. That is the only way to go I don't have to deal with anything trade-ins and they do it all, if you have to buy a vehicle that takes longer than an hour and a half it's not worth it from the dealer 😂!
I like the sound of those mods! I'm interested in most of those myself. I need to check if front window tint is legal in California... A bed cover and rock slides are high on my list. I hope you enjoy your trucks. Thanks for watching and have a great day! :)
Awesome purchase! I just picked up a 23 Barcelona red offroad in manual, a month ago! I pick it up tomorrow from the shop after a fresh ceramic coating.
I’ve had my Trd off-road for two months already 2500 miles on it. Off-roading capability is possible stocked because I’ve done it multiple times already. I’m loving my truck first truck ever I have nothing but good things to say about it except for the gear hunting, he loves to do that But taking it in to get it In to get Tuned will fix the problem. I just got to find the right tuner. Welcome to the taco family bro. Congratulations on your new truck. It’s beautiful. And I’ve done a lot of research on the pro. You’re better off getting what you have and then adding all the mods later because you’ll save yourself some money Being financed and all
Pretty much agree with everything you said. I know what people mean about the transmission. It's not a HUGE deal to me, but I understand why it bothers people. I've heard nothing but good things from people that get a tune, and that's definitely on my list of possible upgrades in the future!
Congrats to you as well! Manual is pretty sweet. It's hard to believe Toyota makes one of the only mid sized trucks you can still get one of those. Pretty soon you'll have yourself a collector's item. Enjoy your truck!
Congrats to you!! Lucky you're not waiting as long as I did... I only had to drive 100 miles to get mine. But once you get the truck that drive will feel worth it.
I got a trail edition Tacoma for a few months now. It’s my first ever truck and I absolutely love it other than the MPG ( my average is 15 mpg unless I drive 65 max then I’ll get around 19 )
That sounds about right. If I throw caution to the wind on the highway I can safely say I'll get 17-19 MPGs. If I pay attention and drive conservatively I can pretty easily get the 22 advertised. Although I've actually had circumstances where I've pushed it beyond that... new video coming soon
That's too bad! Personally a full-size pickup is just too big for me to be comfortable on a daily basis. A big factor in buying the Taco was really considering the size. Then of course there's that Toyota reliability!
Jumping from a Toyota to any other Domestic Trucks !! Dodge, chevy and Ford......they will leave you stranded and are big $$$$$$ pits after a year or less of driving them!! I had never had any good luck with them....constantly fixing this or that!!!
I’m literally in the process of finding the right truck so if you made a video on your process I would 100% watch it. I need other peoples perspective so that will be cool. You have literally what I want too so it works out 😂
Nice man, I’m going to bite the bullet and get me a 2023 later in the year. I wouldn’t mind a 2024, but I would like to get this one and see how the 2024 model will hold up before I jump on that generation.
I feel exactly the same way! If for some reason the 2024 is THAT much better I guess you could always trade in for it. But function aside I still like the way the 3rd gen looks compared to the 4th gen.
Not sure I understand. The gray looks fantastic in the sun. It's very different than most other grays you see driving around. It really shines during golden hour though. There is a subtle green hue in the paint that only pops during sunrise/sunset. Looks incredible. At night I guess it just looks gray.
How are you liking it? I want that same color. Was looking at the Pro, but don’t like the color options. Now thinking this is the way to go. But if you add the tech and premium package you end up paying almost as much as the Pro without all the Pro extras. How much did you pay out the door?
I am REALLY liking it. My initial search was for the PRO, but no dealer on the planet wants to sell them for MSRP. Very happy with the OR trim though. My MSRP with premium and tech packages was ~$47k. Out the door was ~$50k. Despite buying the truck in LA, I payed 7% sales tax due to San Diego registration. Compared to 10.5% tax in LA it saved me a couple grand.
Catalytic converters. I believe the Taco has 4 of them and easily stolen do to the easy access.(truck sits high) Major problem in some areas and costs a fortune to replace, they sawsall them right off for the precious metals in them.@@TyDollar Here is an example of an install, ua-cam.com/video/e1iwcWEo-pA/v-deo.html She is from San Diego too.
Oh right. Yeah this is a great point. My friend in San Diego has had the catalytic converter taken off her Prius multiple times... Oh yeah I've seen this youtube channel before. Shes got a ton of great videos about the Taco!!
Just got the same exact bitch except for leather and sunroof which I did not want! LOVE it. Hey does your driver window whistle at 60-65 mph? Also, how do you like your backup camera? Pretty garbage quality. LOL
Sounds like you got a great truck!! I haven't noticed any whistling. The back-up camera gets the job done for me. My last car was a 2016 so maybe I'm just accustomed to older tech. If anything I'm a little disappointed in the side-view mirror cameras. The 360 view that's generated looks good, but when you're looking straight through the mirror cams at the front wheels it's really hard to tell what you're looking at.
100% agree. The 360 is good, everything else is pretty bad including the backup cam. BTW, I had to brighten it and play with the contrast to make it useable LOL. My truck has some sort of alignment or tire balance issue, brand new truck with only 3 miles on the odometer, and of course the whistling on the driver window, some seal issue. I will need to bring it up to a dealer..@@TyDollar
That's strange because cement is a darker shade of grey than lunar. Even if this footage is over-exposed, it looks even lighter than lunar really does. One thing you might not see in really bright footage is lunar rock has an almost green hue to it in the right light. Anyway I guess we have the harsh San Diego sun to thank for the lighting!
Got the same truck for the same reasons. My third one over the years congrats.I tinted the drivers and passengers front windows to match the back one it looks so much better.
Sounds like You got talked into buying a lot of a Accessories, most people don't need. Why wouldn't you have gotten a toneau of cover? That way, your bed Mat could be protected?? Unreal..
Nah, I bought what I wanted. All factory options except the tech package are things I actively sought after. And the tech package, while definitely not "necessary" I think is worth the value. And besides, nothing about this truck is "necessary", you could spend half the money if all you needed was a pickup truck. I am pretty interested in a bed cover, although not Toyota's in particular. My favorite right now are the diamond back covers. Those are expensive, but I think it's fair for their quality.
Congratulations 🍾 🎉 on your new Taco OR! I have same truck in Metallic grey see my channel. I removed my stock rim with a Method NV305 bronze I get head turns and compliments from friends . Oh btw how much did you pay out the door $ ? I paid $53 K marked up! Enjoy your new Taco!
Thanks so much!! I'm loving it. My truck is bone stock and will probably stay that way for a while, but in the first week of driving around I had about a half dozen people compliment me and ask about it. I paid $50k out the door. I was lucky to avoid any markups, which was part of my hunt for the right dealer.

Got the same truck in February 23 and already got 25k on it! Still love it
Hell yeah! I'm almost a year into mine and I'm approaching 10k. Most of those are trail miles and highway miles to get to the trails lol.
The bed mat is possibly the best purchase for the Tacoma.
Really loving it so far. Already had a big camping trip, and the mat makes transporting gear so much more pleasant. No sliding around and clunking in the bed while you drive.

You make a great point, it is pretty heavy!! Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Nice truck! I've had my 23 TRD Sport premium for about 3 weeks now and am really loving the truck. So happy I got my hands on a 23!
Alright welcome to the club! It's about to get exclusive! Thanks for watching :)
Nice truck, my son got the same one this year in May. You'd be surprised how many variations of trim levels you can get on all these Toyotas Tacomas. That's a nice color. Really smart move with the coating. I just spent a bunch of time and money washing and waxing. At least it was a bit of fun!
Awesome truck man congrats.
I appreciate it thank you :) Thanks for watching!

Great truck. That is exactly the truck and color I plan to buy
Couldn't agree more. I hope you get your hands on it :)
Congratulations, i love my 2023 Taco 😊
Thank you and thanks for watching :)
Great truck. I also just bought 2023 Off Road TRD last year of the V6
Yes sir! Last year of the v6, which is a big reason I bought it as well. Congrats on your truck. Best of luck and thanks for watching :)
Bout to get mine from 1200 miles away from me to get it deliver 😊
Heyo just in time for the new year. Love to hear it. Congratulations on your truck. Thanks for watching :)
Just ordered the exact same one: same color, premium and tech package. Found it 350 miles away. Should arrive in a month.
Congrats to you!! Lucky you're not waiting as long as I did... I only had to drive 100 miles to get mine. But once you get the truck that drive will feel worth it.

looking forward to it@@TyDollar
Looks amazing! I had a Tacoma Trd off road. I sold it and purchased an f-250. It was a mistake, I miss having a reliable Toyota.

I'm trying to find a color description on the shade of green..looks like sage to me...
Looks amazing!
I appreciate it thanks for watching!
I love tacomas. The beat truck’s
I couldn't agree more! The best truck for sure! Thanks for watching :)
Hey im in canada waiting on mine. Same as urs but white and no jbl. They said in oct.
Fingers crossed! I really hope you can get your hands on it. Thanks for watching :)
My mom just got hers too it’s bad ass only difference she got running boards cause she short 😅
Hey no hate on the running boards. I'd probably opt for true sliders myself because they can still double as steps!

😢😢😢 Assembled in Mexico!! No thanks…
Haha hey who am I to comment on that. It seems like people's trucks are running just fine. Don't let that be the reason you don't get your Taco!!!
Yes....if only it was assemble in Japan would be way better. Cheap labors means cheaper quality for these Toyota's compared to before!
