I have the first rim 991 not the alpha it's a great radio. I had an issue receiving the hf bands. Checked the swr. Added a jumper. Come to find out. It was the extension side. Haha. Lesson learned.
Your FTdx10 review helped me decide to get that one. Thank you! This is my next purchase because I have a mobile rig (IC-23000H) sitting in my shack and I want to move that to my car. This will look great sitting next to my FTdx10 and allow me to continue working with my local club via their VHF repeater. It's smaller so my goal its to take it in the field to do POTA activations as well. I'm also assuming I can use the Yaesu MD-100 modular microphone I currently use with my 10? Yaesu should send you a radio for all the great unbiased reviews you do of their radios!
Timothy, thank you for the kind words. You will love the radio. Take the time and read the instruction book… I know that could be tedious but there are a lot of things that radio can do. You’ll learn a lot by taking the time my friend. Thank you as well for your kind words. It’s nice to hear from you again and I’m really grateful that you got such a great transceiver. Happy new year my friend! Larry
My friend, congratulations! I’m so happy for you! This is a great accomplishment!! Do your best to study to get higher licenses as you can. You’ll find the world opens up to you in so many ways as you license up. I’m certainly not the best at everything here. But if I can ever answer a question, please let me know. Again congratulations to you! You did it! Larry
@@HamRadioLiveShow Im studying for general! Watched the 2nd half of your steam and heard you are on the other side of the hill from me. I know this question has many variables but on a ht do you think it will be possible to hit a repeater that is about 11miles away? I ordered a ft5dr and a signal stick. The closest repeater to me is ~11 miles on a butte and about 700ft above me.
Thanks for your videos just got the ft991a still in box ! So much to learn even before I turn it on
Awesome show!!!!! Best most comprhensive review I’ve seen!

Does the radio require a PL259 coax for the uhf vhf band?
