I've been a pro musician for over 40 years. This kid is flawless! Are you guys insane? Pure joy! Band ain't bad either (actually they were kickin it big time!) Thanks for post, first I've seen her!
Instead of celebrating the magic of this marvelous performer and performance, some commentators need to hate, need to go great lengths to tear her down. They seem to need to act-out some of their issues and self-hatred and also defend their favorite artist by tearing down others. She gets no break for being 14 years old! Nikki is now 17, and evolving into a beautiful and prodigiously talented young woman. Look out world, here comes Nikki! Her career will continue to be breathtaking!
Geweldig, wat een ritme gevoel! En haar stem is ook fantastisch. Great, what a good feeling for the rhythm! And the voice is fantactic too. Great future for you!
She is the most amazing teen age singer I've seen since Charlotte Church. Talent like this is very rare. You're lucky if you see one singer a decade as good as this at this age. She's like 17 now, by the time shes in her 20's she is going to be awesome.
I'm going to be charitable and say the audience must have been too stunned by what they had just witnessed to give it the prolonged ovation that performance deserved.
She did a great job ¥¥¥¥ going to Nashville means nothing sweetie I have been there to and got an award for best jazz vocalist. Nikki Yanosky is a amazing jazz vocalist so don't hate because you are unknown.
This is a nice sounding and slick arrangement and everyone hangs together. This is a great effort here that has merit. Nikki has the ability to mimic and then organize the phrases that hat she has heard and learned. A really good job. Hearing the lyrics and the story is part of why we have a history of great singers. We need to hear more clear enunciation and pronunciation of the lyrics. Many words lack the proper clarity. Look up the lyrics on line and follow along. But still, a really good job.
@YE55iR i know What you mean but i actually disagree, her facial expressions are very good and she also moves her arm and hand. This is actually fine for the jazz style I don't know how much you know about it but you don't have to move that much in jazz :) You might be thinking about more pop or rock stars and the way they perform but this is fine to me :)
fabulous. Just great. I want to see her do some Rosemary Clooney "Come ona my house" "Tenderly"... gosh, I want to hear her do everything. She's great. That pianist ain't no slouch, either
@jasnpete I agree. Many people here are completely missing my point, but so far you're the only one who understands where I'm coming from. She has a great voice! Just needs a little work on her actual stage performance. I've seen her recent videos, and she has improved quite a bit. Practice practice practice!
Check out her many recordings of other types of music, also, on youtube. You will see she has been there, done that already. Why Jazz? Because it is very difficult, and her rare talents meet the challenge. Jazz is her best gift.
@L142sEnToSa This video is the only time she closely watches the pianist's hands. She doesn't "need" to look at the hands of the pianist!-check out the song on her DVD and other videos. i have seen her live, and she stood on the other side of the piano-never looking at the piano keys. you people are unbelievable-being petty and really looking for something to knock her about-real or imagined.
Very talented girl. Sounds fantastic on upbeat tunes such as this. But jazz by its very nature, requires life experiences to bring it to life and not just by vocal technique alone, this is what makes Ella Fitzgerald the legend she is. But Yanofsky will get there, at 16, she's already miles ahead of her peers.
her "growls" were wicked in this video and it doesnt matter w.e ur entitled to ur own opinion, which is different than the masses. A lot of ppl think shes a good singer, i believe shes better than average
The point of jazz is for every version to stand on its own. No need to compare to the "original" there are so many versions I'm not sure that its definite which version exactly was recorded first...
i've heard her sing the National Anthem, and i've heard her sing the theme to the Olympics.... and let me just say, Cristina Aguilera and Celine Dion have nothing to worry about
@YE55iR isnt it enough with great voice to cover the stage performance...? She is very lovely to look at... so i dont think she have to do better presences.
I don't think it matters. Curses are just another expression in the language use to emphasis its intent or meaning. I always find the notion that some words are not kid friendly very silly. In fact kids are more likely to use these words if you forbid them to use it. By using curse words among peers kids can actually elevate their social standing (not afraid and such). I would simply tell the children these are crude languages and over using these words can make a person appear ignorant.
@YE55iR Great voice, yes. Little to no emotion and she should learn jazz riffs vs. the pop stuff she's trying. Can totally tell she's full of herself (and quite young). Her influences are strong (Ella being number 1, I bet), but it all sounds SO technical; a little too well rehearsed. Hopefully she'll mature and develop a few of her own unique qualities.
that is true, but teens and even younger be cursing left and right sometimes they be doing it even before they get on the internet, i know what you mean though
@aguirre25 the music industry cares. they want someone who can engage with the audience. same for actors- especially theatre: no stage prescense = boring .
Love Nikki! She's a musical phenomenon! Much love,Monica Chapman,jazz vocalist,Toronto,Canada.xxx
I've been a pro musician for over 40 years. This kid is flawless! Are you guys insane?

This young lady is fantastic! I have not heard anyone like her....incredible.
Nikki,
I think i like your look here the best especially your hair, makeup and dress. Keep up the great work. Lots of love! Greg

Excellent! Beautiful and elegant performance. Thank you.

Вы знаете, мне сейчас пришло в голову, а ведь кроме Никки больше никого нет! Никого не осталось, кто бы так владел голосом, кто бы так держал стиль свинга. Кто бы сохранил этот дар для будущего. No one since France Gall has hit me like this.
fabulous.
Just great.

Великолепный пианист: Джо Садови!
То, что Никки звезда - это нормально. Я просто начал не с того. Никки, Садови и Фахи... - это фаниастика!!!
Elle a bien appris sa leçon....

HER VOICE IS FUCKING AMAZING
This is SO much better than the original version.
Very talented girl. Sounds fantastic on upbeat tunes such as this. But Yanofsky will get there, at 16, she's already miles ahead of her peers.
I like so much...! ;)
getting better all the time!
Is that Marvin Hamlisch on piano?
She is sooo cute! To think that she was bullied!
her "growls" were wicked in this video
and it doesnt matter w.e ur entitled to ur own opinion, which is different than the masses.
A lot of ppl think shes a good singer, i believe shes better than average
She sure do got rhythm!
@rayzdayz Wow you should be just as big as them great vocals :) keep it up
The point of jazz is for every version to stand on its own. No need to compare to the "original" there are so many versions I'm not sure that its definite which version exactly was recorded first...
@YE55iR totally agree. i've watched several of her videos... she seems to have to watch the pianist's hands when scatting in this song... :S
i've heard her sing the National Anthem, and i've heard her sing the theme to the Olympics....
and let me just say, Cristina Aguilera and Celine Dion have nothing to worry about
@YE55iR she is 14 years old...
Anybodys know how have this version instrumentaly
@YE55iR this was 2008
@YE55iR isnt it enough with great voice to cover the stage performance...?
She is very lovely to look at... so i dont think she have to do better presences.
Is that the girl that was on the Electric Company one time with Wyclef Jean?
What a difference a year makes! A difficult arrangement perferctly pulled off.
What is ORT 2008?
Wonderful performance, but what was with that piano; it sounded weird. ( 2:32 )
@MyNameIsBryann yes
Wow :)
@YE55iR sheesh, give her a break. She was 14 years old at the time!
@mschafferme Maybe not, but it doesn't hurt. besides, I think I just Watched her play piano with her voice. That's pretty impressive.
where can I find the arrangement of this?
miazga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow
@jozeph78 You can be young and have great stage presence. Wow, did I seriously have to repeat myself? I'm saying this from a performer's perspective.
i think it's pretty clear how much she practices her performances.
ha, nikki makes me feel bad. im 15, and have no where near the talent she has! She is amazing!
Nice.
Waoooo
Мне 50. Всегда любил Эллу и никогда ей не изменял. Но тут сплоховал. Я очень люблю Эллу, но ... Никки лучше!
@YE55iR She's 14. Do you expect her to be Jessica Rabbit or something?
I don't think it matters. Curses are just another expression in the language use to emphasis its intent or meaning. I always find the notion that some words are not kid friendly very silly. Ника или Вероника?
good

is it just me or is there like NO applause at the end, that don't do her justice.
holy sshit!
класс
@SHAREE209 HA! i think everyone agrees with you there :P check out my version if you can?
😊
an what makes your opinion better than mine?
@ggardoit That doesn't mean anything. You can be young and have great stage presence.
that is true, but teens and even younger be cursing left and right sometimes they be doing it even before they get on the internet, i know what you mean though
if i would have known such kind of girl in the age of 14, i would never have turned gay
Круто
le hace mucho a la mamda.
Macy's at Christmas... right anyone anyone?
molto elegante xD
I was wondering ..can she scat? I found out.. G'dammn! The kid is a phenom
@aguirre25 the music industry cares. they want someone who can engage with the audience.
same for actors- especially theatre: no stage prescense = boring .
society needs young singers like her and eperanza spalding ! not biber and rebbeca black.
