Full respect to Redgrave and all other British greats but I don't think many or any other sports compare to the relentless week in week out pressures of the tennis tour where all eyes are on you and you alone. The mental let alone physical pressure from that is immense and it takes incredible character to stay at the top for a long time, as well as the physical effort required. But I admit I'm mostly a tennis fan so I am biased.
Male sports-wise I’d put him in a tier one category (which seems fairest way to think about it) alongside: Farah Hoy Cavendish Wiggins Tier two would include likes of: Alistair Brownlee Adam Peaty Ben ainslie And I’ll have missed many others no doubt

Difficult question. Hard to compare across sports. Murray almost certainly competed in the most competitive era in his sports history on the men’s side of things and still achieved world no.1, multiple slams and olympics gold medals, in spite of a terrible injury record. Got to be up there with the greats.

Steve Redgrave. 5 Olympic golds in 5 different games
