    Semaglutide has facilitated my loss of 30+ pounds over 3.5 months- and dropped my A1C from 8 to 6. I say, "facilitated", because the real key is a low carb/high-protein diet. The Semaglutide does its part by helping to control my appetite. Without some willpower on my part, I wouldn't have done so well.

    I've used Semaglutide, lost 30-35 pounds within a two month period. Now since the 30lbs I've noticed its harder to further lose the weight. Still I'm consistent in continuing the dosages and watch my eating (Food, Habits, etc.) while weight lifting and no less then three days of cardio to burn at a minimal 400 calories each time. I know the drug was a great help to get over the first hurdle and my choices will only determine if I reach my end goal, started at 314lb, Currently 285lb, Goal 250lb.

    My AC1 was 7.1 at the start of using Ozempic (March). After 3 months my AC1 was 7.6 (June) and then in September my AC1 was 7.0. I have since dropped 55lbs. (220 down to 165), I still take oral meds. The side effects have been nothing less than brutal. Gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, nausea were at the top of the list, and I have other lesser side effects which are just as uncomfortable. I still experience all of those side effects but only slightly less so than at the beginning of taking Ozempic. So after 9 months I have realized a 25% reduction in my weight and I'm hoping my next AC1 has also improved. My family has been less than thrilled, they have been concerned due ro the severity of the side effects.

    Drug trials are great because you’re in a controlled environment and the medication is free for participates, however, in reality semaglutide for weight loss in the general population is absurdly unaffordable at $1700-$2000 month whereas most health plans deny it’s coverage and use.

    • @kma3647
      @kma3647 3 роки тому +2

      That last note the Dr made about FDA approval for weight loss will change a lot of that. Step 1 in the process is proving it works, which I think has now been fairly well demonstrated. I think we can confidently say Novo Nordisk (the pharma co that makes it) will be pushing for that approval, and given that it's getting better results (by a little) than liraglutide (Victoza) which is the other drug in the same class which is also approved for weight loss, they've got a strong case. Once that happens, it's much easier to get CMS to cover it on Medicare/Medicaid patients and private insurers typically follow those coverage changes fairly rapidly after that. The big thing is that they want to see cost effectiveness, a return on investment, so to speak. If they give that patient with resistant obesity the very expensive drug ($24,000/yr is the kind of thing that makes healthcare costs skyrocket, friends, and we ALL pay for it), they'll need to see that over the course of the lifetime of that patient, they end up with reduced healthcare usage down the road. At this cost, it's a tough sell.
      No one talks about the price, but we darn well should be with every one of these drugs. The prices for these new drugs are often astronomical, especially at the beginning because the pharma company is trying to recoup the $2.5 billion on average it takes to develop a new drug.

      Really? So your weight was low already and you still lost that much? May I ask if you are diabetic?

    • @MasterYourOwnDestiny

      @@ThingsILikke hi, yeah my weight was already relatively low I guess but I wanted to trim down and lose fat for my weeding. It definitely works but it created disordered eating for me… People were considered that I was getting too skinny and some said I looked like a sick bride, so I stopped the medication and started eating normally again. Now I weigh about 110 pounds … I miss being shredded though so I’d like to start it again but I am concerned about what it does to my body…
      The only real complaint I have with this medication is that it has given me SEVERE constipation. I’m still very backed up even though I’m not taking the shot anymore. For the past four months I have only pooped about once (twice if I’m lucky) per week, which is always VERY painful which have caused several hemorrhoids and I bleed every time… I’m not sure this is normal, so I am going to make an appointment with a doctor soon to get everything looked over… My husband is still taking the shot once a week and is down about 30 pounds since starting…
      Hope this helps.

      @@MasterYourOwnDestiny Oh my gosh I am so sorry- not pooping for a month is seriously hazardous- bowel blockages can kill you. I am type 1 diabetic and I asked my doctor about GLP-1s because I heard such good things about them but they haven’t been proven safe and have been strongly linked to cancer. My doctor said that metformin is a better option but I already take that. Thank you for the info- if a GLp-1 that does not risk cancer comes out I would try that.

    My biggest complaint is that it’s made me excruciatingly constipated. I only poop once a week, and when I do, it’s extremely painful and bloody from the hemorrhoids it’s caused. But hey, At least I loook great!

      I had to almost eliminate cheese from my diet, and I started taking 1-2 fiber pills a day. I do a lot with vegetables and any grains are whole grain. That solved the constipation problem.

      Primarily it reduces your appetite. You eat at the time times, but your stomach will feel full after eating less food. It also slows how fast food moves through your system. For diabetics, we also note that the drug increases insulin secretion. These are good things to talk to your actual doctor about for more details.

      Of course, it doesn't matter what ratio you want to dilute it to. What matters is that you do the math right when you're injecting it, so you get the number of milligrams that you planned on.

    I have never experienced anemia in my life until being on Liraglutide then Semaglutide. The tiny bit of A1C improvement wasn't worth the constant fatigue and inability to stay awake during most days. Weight loss? Never happened.

      I am normally a very energetic person, very high energy. This drug has almost shut me down. I hate it and am going off it. I have every single side effect x 10. I would rather deal with the hunger without meds. This drug makes me highly nauseous and dizzy 100% of the time. Weaning myself off as quickly as I can, with my doctors guidance. Glad it works for so many but definitely does NOT for me.
