Dude the challenges are so anal about every single thing like they believe the best way to get pipes is to use your stone axe on a toilet???? but at least you can track them and it shows you exactly what you need to whack i suppose
You know what's the best irony? I distinctively remember Joel introducing wrenching to disassemble items in Alpha 13 teaser video and he explicitly mentioned and showed wrenching a toilet for pipes. And now we're back to making that very thing redundant.
It's not the best, but it is the earliest that you can harvest them. Yes, there are other things you can hit to get pipes, but this is basically a tier 0 tutorial for new players. I am sure there are other ways of wording and coding to make it work, but I am not going to get that into it for something so simple in the game.
That is kinda crazy. I have 10k hours in the game and have never hit a toilet, let alone with a stone axe. I find the idea preposterous lol
@@shadowrypre the worst one is wrenching the leather desk chairs for your first 10 mechanical parts???? why not tell the player picking them up and scrapping them in your inventory gives you 6 leather? why make them beat chairs???? its almost like who ever made the challenges has never actually played the game
Some of the salvage ones don’t work. The steel one suggests street lamps and vending machines but only vending machines count towards steel. The mechanical parts mentions shopping carts, office chairs, and destroyed generator banks but carts don’t count. Haven’t checked the other 2 yet. I hope they fix that because it is super annoying
Bit of a pain but you might find it helpful to track the challenge. When you track it it will tell you "Equip bone knife/ stone axe" and when you equip it it will highlight any nearby sources for the challenge
@@stevdor6146 Oh I'm sure it will infuriate him, but hopefully less than not being able to complete the challenges does :D
If you track the challenges, it will highlight the things you have to harvest for credit. It's not every item that gives credit.
I can attest to this. it's incredibly dumb but I was able to knock out the harvesting challenges this way.
"Not every item" = Fun Pimps fail special? I'm shocked.
@@IIIReptarIII-TCPH They programmed in all these restrictions, good way to annoy your playerbase.
@@Yogi_Bear69 Well, I am never playing a fun pimps game again. So there's that. I've written them off same as Snail and Wildcard. If I see their names on something it immediately goes into the NOPE pile.
@@IIIReptarIII-TCPH I dunno man. t could be worse, at least they are not making gaccha or using lootboxes. They have morals and I will support them as long as that remains the case. There's annoying things in every game everyone makes and if I could get in touch with the devs I have some serious quality of life changes I'd like to see. But overall not bad.
Do we feel it is a lazy cop-out by the fun pimps to up the 'difficulty' by making the zombies bullet sponges with huge uplifts in their health pools?
I've never been a fan of bullet sponge=more difficult. If they wanted to make it more difficult in a reasonable manner, they should have decreased body shots by a great deal, making it required to be more precise with your shots. That's what I think anyways, that or play up the actual survival mechanic that's supposed to be in the game, faster water and food drain for an example
Never forget that they gave us magical armor that will increase your melee or ranged damage significantly thereby negating the health boost if you choose so...
@@engineeringtheapocalypsepreacher gloves op af. 50% damage boost to u dead at lvl6
@@wowarchershirou think it is 60% I got some T5 ones and they are at 50% to undead.
@@mani21axe40we're already eating more then 5kilos of food a day 😅😂
Remember guys, more than a decade of early access
Just wait till we console players get the game befor y’all start exposing bugs plz
Well, they took 6 years developing a great sandbox survival game, then used the following 5 years scraping everything made a mediocre looter shooter
Don't do T5s before you have maxed gear. And also Grover High is bugged and can't be cleared in a T5 clear. Holy shit TFP I know it's experimental but fix your game 😂
I have noticed too that you get way more armour books than you should be getting w/o putting any skill points in armour.
they go on the main stats. (strenght etc)
Yeah, for early mechanical parts with stone axe, hit the blue mailbox, and also those big brown pipes that have a red valve, hit the valve part.
I had the same issue with the polymers, turned out it specifically wants you to gather them from blue plastic barrels and shopping trollies if you track it it'll give you the hud icon when you're close, massive pain that it's so pedantic
My favorite 7d2d UA-camr!
He's definitely the best at this game and doesnt hold back what he thinks! 🥰
@@radbradmusicartist yeah that's why I appreciate him the most. Very honest. Can tell what's ok and what's wrong. I wish tfp listened to him a little more to get fair criticism and fix bugs as well.
i use for light armor:
Rogue Hood for Loot Bonus (2% per Tier)
Enforcer Outfit (crit resist 5% per Tier)
Preacher Gloves (Undead Damage 10% per Tier) (looks like the best overall gloves)
Enforcer Boots (Run speed 2% per Tier) or the Rogue Boots (Safe fall Distance 1m per Tier)
And a Nerd-Chest in my vehicle for book reading.
I found 3 legendary parts all in waching machines so far.
Fun Pimps: Let's increase all the zombies health that will make the game "harder".
Also the Fun Pimps: Preacher Gloves (Damage against the Undead increased 10% per Tier).
That's a bold move, Fun Pimps let's see how it works out.
Don't worry, they'll nerf the preacher gloves down to, like, 2% per tier.
I hope a modder fixes the challenge system. Why didn't TFP just show the player a small pop-up banner, and automatically display it when you complete an event? It's annoying to make the player need to enter the challenge menu to claim the event as met. You'd think with preparing for the console players, they'd want the player to spend less time in a menu if possible. The challenge system is buggy as well, it doesn't recognize alternate ways to salvage items.
Like specifically wrenching forged steel from vending machines. Why? Street lights and transformers are more abundant, and the vending machine needs to be broken to safely harvest. So odd the focus on bone knife and stone axe as the harvesting tool too, especially when everyone I watch is getting a toilet knife by Day 2.
I haven't had a chance to play 1.0 yet, but watching your videos is the next best thing. I'm excited for what 1.0 brings and even more excited to see the rest of this series. Thank you for all the hard work and dedication to make our days a little brighter!!
every one can play the "V1.0 Public Experimental" now. or wait to the real 1.0 :D
@@SirTrizy another decade before we get the real 1.0 lol :D
@@SirTrizy dident they say it wood drop on 25th?
The ONLY thing that gives you progress toward the polymer goal in this experimental release is plastic barrels with a stone axe.
The wording of the polymer challenge is misleading. It is only the items listed that actually count. As you said, "Flawless".
The challenges being so overly specific is something TFP seriously needs to work on ASAP.
Having thousands of hours definitely hurt the attitude on these challenges. Here's a way to look at it: the challenge teaches new players different ways you CAN obtain or do something in the game, but the specific challenge asks you to do it a certain way to complete the task.
Sure, it'd be nice and almost expected nowadays that you should be able to do it with any tool from any source, but it's just not like that yet. It's the first iteration so maybe with feedback they'll start generalizing them.
Lets just hope they will fix challenges when stable comes out. I understand that you actually have to craft/mine stuff, but it should not matter what tool and where we get the stuff.
Idea of challenges is really nice though.
Thanks for plowing through this shit update.
lol, how hard is it to just make an object list for "knife" and "axe" then have those be the tool/weapon to harvest with?
What's your general opinion so far after playing 1.0 a little bit?
The objectives are to like gather specific resources with a specific tool but I guess the real challenge is to read the whole text and not just take the easiest/fastest route
I was able to buy iron tools from the trader on day 2 with 2 points in daring adventurer, they were level 1 but are way better than lvl 1 stone tools
I watch your videos the most, because I appreciate your honesty & sarcasm.
I love using stun baton in A21, so I'm glad you're doing an intel build for that in A22... er V1.0, so I can see how it'll work (I'm not anxious to download A22/V1.0 because I have buildings to finish...building.
i've tried making a lvl 1 stone axe and attempting to do the scrap polymer thing and mine still doesn't count up, also seem to be an issue with ladders and breaking a leg when jumping off a bicycle moving at top speed but maybe that 1 is right :D
I noticed that stuff harvested inside active quest POIs dont seem to count towards challenges, but stuff just laying around does. Might be to stop farming, as in harvest, start quest, harvest again? Just a thought.
Knives are still pretty overpowered. You may have to get up in a zombies face but your so agile and dont use alot of stamina and you hit like a little truck.
Early game yes. But later they start to become a bit lackluster. The bleed DOT doesn't scale and is just a tickle for the health pools of late game zombies. The machete swing is worse than the stab action of the bone and hunting knifes, but if you don't switch you're fighting with a T2 weapon in late game...
Get full heavy armor but the chest piece should be preacher for the -20% undead damage. This will make you have 102 armor rating and zombies start to heal you when they hit you.
😂
With 2.0 maybe we'll get facial animations?
I wonder if the challenges for the stone axe didn't trigger because it had a mod on it?
Another great straight forward video, with honest opinions! Thank you for another great one.
I am curious as to whether the Int horde base will still be viable. My horde base uses 2 Rs's at the top of the ramp on either side and 3 smg turrets, right by me so I can easily reload them.
They still work. Difficulty wise, nothing has changed in a meaningful way
Why don’t you do PvP servers
Took me about 15 tree stumps to get the 5 honey
Yeah if you want to get radiated zombies by day 21 just kill a ton of them on the day 7 and day 14 hordes. And the way they buffed up the boss-type zombies the slower you can get to those ones which are potentially radiated ferals the better.
The bike is interesting with this update. Not only does it run away when you get off. If you try to mitigate that by braking. The braking distance is much long then the previous alpha. It's like trying to stop a boat now. Also there is this noise it makes, similar to when the wheel (IRL) is canted and rubbing against the frame. At first I thought it was happening when stamina got below 50%, but it randomly does it a full stamina as well.
Don’t forget it’s experimental
Yeah, the lack of crit resist shows, but good news! There is a whole row of challenges to fix critical hits you've taken...with that considerably less First Aid. I found that only water barrels counted for the polymer quest, only vending machines for the harvest steel, mechanical parts from office chairs. Despite listing multiple sources, it wants you harvest from only specific ones, but does not specify.
Honestly 1.0 is such a disappointment so far, I was expecting big things from a 1.0 update after over a decade in alpha just for it to feel like an alpha 22, things don't feel polished, there were no major additions or reworks, just som minor changes don't get me wrong it's a great game however I would have expected some actual content that changes how you play, like yea you can say armor is content but it doesn't really change much, you just craft the armor with your desired benefits and hop right back into normal gameplay
They should have given us Bandits, fixed the zombie AI, done a complete quest rework, give us a complete skill rework, give us another skill tree, give us a POI or biome overhaul, or literally anything of actual substance that would affect more than a small part of gameplay
And if they think the game is nearly complete as is and doesn't need any major content they should have polished the game more such as fixing the building, give us more qol, fix zombie ai, try and fix some of the bigger alpha 21 complaints, etc
Just do as you're told!
for those gather this with that things I found if you track it than the game will only take you to the right thing to salvage the right item. Also for collecting 5 honey trees it saves SOOOOOO much time
See what I’m wondering is how will this new armor system affect mods? Always interested to see how moders work around tfps changes to the game
There is not that much to do, if you want to make a mod with an RPG style, they will improve and add more deep to this. If they want a simple and classic survival mod, they will just scrap this
the Challenge quests are stupid with little gains. And they still kept the magazine/books system to unlock perks and crafting options which is the worst for a survival game.
I gotta say. I'm tired of leveling up by reading magazines to upgrade my levels. I'm not even excited for 1.0 until modders make the game better.
I really wish the Fun Pimps had sold this IP to a better company back during Alpha16.
Thought you should know a lvl 5 nerd glove gives a 50% Interlect weapon damage bonus.
An early hunting knife is awesome compared to some of those other garbage weapons. Lol
Garbage on insane.... I mean
Challenges are bad we can all agree but at least we give our feedback and Fun pimps can fix it when the 1.0 goes live for everyone
I've been dealing with the same problem with challenges and my friend is like "nuh uh, you didn't bother reading the quest right", and harvests the 1 thing on the quest that ACTUALLY works.
Things are very specific like get 10 mechanical parts from harvesting with a wrench, I have broke down at least 30 cars gotten about a stack of the darn things haven't completed it yet, it was the same thing with the electrical parts wasn't until I scrapped computers and tvs did I actually get the challenge done.
@@DustinDonald-cz9ot Mechanical parts must be gained from the office chairs for that challenge. The electrical parts can also be gained from ceiling lights.
7 days just keeps getting worse. Ever since alpha 16 it’s steadily gone downhill, one step forward two steps back.
The fact that we are all playing the same freaking loop like a bunch of nostalgic idiots: Going to our base, to the trader, to a POI, to the trader, base, POI, trader, base, POI, base, trader...
They want to create a total of 1000 POIs while they forgot about everything else. No reason not to build our base right in front of the trader now, cause why would we travel an extra 300m every single time?
The fact that they doubled the health of bikers makes me panic more whenever I see them
Water barrels are the only things that count sadly it sucks theynerd to re work thier quest dystrm
the 500 zombie kills challenge gave me nothing. sooo
Check out the enforcer gloves, I think at lvl 6 is adds 60% melee damage, and lvl 5 is 50%
The preacher gloves do the same damage increase, but its for ALL forms of damage, guns included. Specifically to the undead, but they're the main issue.
You can cycle backwards and use zero stamina
the ghost bike had me cracking up
Actually taking the supplies from fetch and clear- doing a lot better than Guns, Nerds, and Steel...
Try harvest with a wrench not a stone axe
I cheat. I put no drop on death. Pick up everything. Normally by the time I get to the mission site I'm full. Do the mission filled up to the gills. Once done I die and then empty my pockets and go back to the trader. I'll get the XP back.
Still a joke of game 1.0
I wonder if the bonus health from armor stacks above the vanilla hp limit of 200?
If you use the learning elixir before redeen the chalenge, you will have bônus XP?

Dude is negative about almost everything in this game yet he plays all the time....
Because the challenge design is legitimately flawed. There's no real reason to require the use of primitive tools. The important, actually instructive part, is knowing what you can do and why you would want to do it. E.g. screw requiring a Bone Knife for stuff, and instead tell players that it is the knife class of weapons/tools that matters for harvesting meat. The Bone Knife is just the _likely_ tool players will have on hand at the start.
I second that
farming or beds i think now is the way to go for cloth . love the content
I like to compare where I am with others on UA-cam. I'm not getting tool magazines so I'm on level one stone tools still on day 6. Kinda pisses me off. lol
But then I can make tier 6 primitive armors. Go figure.
I seen a guy with a giant base already before day 7. I'm still livin' on a roof with no horde base even started. lol
I'm on top of that garage with the fenced-in dogs. I woke up one and it gave me an infection then I woke up the second one and it too gave me an infection. I had two honeys. Then I went to the trader and another dog bit me - gave me an infection. But Rekt had some honey for sale. So I guess watch out for the dog bites.
I found a tier 3 wrench on day one.
The lumberjack gear is awesome for cutting wood.
For some reason, there's eating option for a...broken glass...wat😂😂
Players would suicide by eating the glass to get back to their bedroll faster. Or so I've heard, I've never done it.
