Thank you so much for that one attempt of taking the star out first. It might sound crazy but whenever I see people destroying his highlighters I'm always hoping they take the star out first but no one ever does. Extra satisfaction on this one. Also loving the memes. Thumbs up!
Just going to throw this out there, because there seems to be some confusion in the comments. If something weighs 1 pound, it weighs 1 pound no matter if it is steel or feathers. Likewise, if something weighs 1 gram, it weighs 1 gram no matter if it is a metallic eye shadow or a matte eye shadow. If you put something on a scale and it weighs 1 gram, the object weighs 1 gram no matter what the object is. However, due to differences in molecular weight, the amount of moles of a particular element or compound present may differ.
@@astranger271 one pound of feathers weighs more than one pound of steel because with the pound of feathers you also have the weight of the knowledge of what you did to all of those poor birds (no I do not mean this seriously)
Pigments are made of metals and minerals all which have different weights, so different colors are going to weight different amounts in grams, no shocker there, great video guys!
Olivia Abrahamian if it's suppose to weigh 2.5 g then it should weigh 2.5g although the amount of moles of material will differ based on the different molecular weights....
I really hope you're thinking about doing more palettes! I love the normal make up break ups but I found this one extra fascinating for some reason! I think the modern renaissance would be a cool one!
We definitely will be doing more palettes. Right now we are trying to get a good variety of makeup in the series before we recreate too many of the same types of videos. Modern Renaissance would be cool!
Jess CandyX hate to be one of those people but I'm here to say so long as you're not applying the glitter shadow over your entire body, you're fine. The metal detectors really aren't that strong, they're designed to detect heavy solid metal, not small amounts. Which is why they don't pick up on piercings. I have 20 piercings and recently travelled and didn't take any of them out, and the detector didn't go off on me. So you'd be fine lol
Absolutely! We do this series to find out more about makeup and to give people more information about what they are buying.... also giving them destruction porn while we are there :P
Tara when you're watching something if that's what you took from it then ok! It's whatever u want it to be. For some it's just about the logics of it and weights and prices but other people see it in a more visual way everyone has different ideas. I enjoyed them removing them from the pans but not like ASMR more just like the natural human satisfaction of removing expensive make up from an expensive package that I would never do myself coz of the sheer cost of the thing!
We actually have one filmed and uploaded and it was going to be up today but this one was more requested... it should be up next week or the week after x
It is wise to purchase things based on cost per use and not cost per bottle/iteam. For example toilet paper costs about 1 cents per foot (if you know where to look) . Most people are paying 30-70 cents per foot. That can be a difference of $150-$200 (or more) per year either saved or wasted. Imagine if you took the time to, only once, calculate - and to be simply aware of, how much everything you buy is costing you annually you can begin to make wiser purchases, creating a more accurate budget and potentially save up to a thousand dollars more per year, per person in the household. With foundation typically the cost is $40 per 1oz. Which is about $1 per ml. Dior Airflash is actually $2.60 per ml. Wow. Lets calculate cost per year. Dior Airflash vs regular liquid foundation you can find at sephora n such. An avg bottle of foundation should last 2-3 months.. A person will need to purchase about 5 bottles of liquid foundation per year. (maybe 4) If you purchase $40 bottle of liquid foundations that have 1oz of product your cost per year will be $200. Dior airflash only lasts 3 weeks. You will need 17 bottles for one year. Costing you $1207. By being aware of how many bottles you will use per year if you come across a clearance sale (my fave is if a store is going out of business), or back to school sale or a black friday sale, and your foundation is half off (or more) you can purchase 5 bottles and save $100 ! (every product you buy has a weekend or a month during every year is is always marked at a deep discount) (Makeup has an expiration date of a year (i think) so i would only reccomend buying a years worth. Anywhos. Being aware is awesome. and saves you a lot !!! Another makeup point is- Liquid lipstick. Jeffrey Star liquid lipstick has about 150 uses per bottle. If used daily you will need about 2 bottles per year. Costing you about $40year. . Lets go bigger. Why do people save money ? The avg person needs 1-5 million dollars in savings to retire. Depending on your lifestyle and location. At 1 million dollars in savings you could actually stop working a 9-5 and switch to bigger income or investing. So all of this savings basically adds up to = shaving off how many years you work for someone, deepening your retirement wallet or simply traveling more- or whatever your big life goals are :)
I personally would love to see a KVD shade and light palette, the Too Faced chocolate bar palette and the Urban Decay naked palette seeings as they are such popular neutral palettes.
I never was very inspired by the shades in this palette but after watching this video I have a new appreciation for them. Confession looks so beautiful and satisfying at 13:51 😍
I just got this pallet in the mail yesterday but unfortunately star power shattered in the mail. I was able to re-press it, (thank god) but I was still wondering if it had to do with the pan size because it looked HELLA thin in the pallet. I'm glad you guys made this video to clear up suspicions :)
Damn, thats one messy shade to break! It's probably more likely that that shade broke because it is one of the driest and chalky shades of the palette x
Hey!!! could u please break up the hudabeauty rose gold edition eyeshadow palette please? I'm curious to see how much product their actually selling us for 65$
I like how indifferent you guys are about the person behind it, I know a lot of people have beef and all which gets in the way of a honest review and video. Love you guys ❤️
I am very disappointed in the amount of haters here... you guys are seriously awesome. Just ignore them! They just complain too much and nit-pick, Love from a toaster.
So I have a question about the science involved in your measurements. Volume and weight are not really the same thing. For example star power are rich bitch have the same amount of product, we could assume the machinery fills each pan to the same point. The only difference is the weight, which in this case would just be due to the different formulations of the eye shadows. So it's not that you have less star power that you do rich bitch, you just have a lighter formula. Right?
Megan Strasburg I'm not quite sure if I understood your comment correctly, so I apologize if this doesn't answer your question. The amount a package states it has is the weight. Depending on the country's laws it may be a small percentage less. That is what they are testing is to see if each pan has at least the stated amount. Yes, the various differences will be due to formula. But the experiment is to make sure each pan contains at least the advertised amount.
The Randomness of Autumn Oh yes I knew that's what they were testing, but for example when they say such and such has less product than this other pan, that is inaccurate. Because they all have the same amount, just varying weights.
We were only testing weight (as that's the only thing we can test - that's what the palette is measured in) and they all ended up having different weights and also different volumes - some pans were almost half empty when repressing them and others were completely full. So no, they didn't have the same amount or weight at all, they were completely different!
I okay I am going to admit this at first sight was going to make me mad and not like you. however I keeped an open mind and watched anyways. I now have to say thank you it was very informative and I think you handled it very professionals which is a very good thing. I am very happy to know I got more bang for my buck. I would also like to extend a thank you to Jeffree Star for such a great pallet and I look forward to the new one. ladies keep this up, I think it was great and I would be very interested in seeing more videos like this!
What makes me sad isn't that you are breaking repressing and then using the product it's that I can't tell which set of hands are Hailey's and which ones are Kats but I think blue nails are hailey
i love yall sooo much omg i had seen these videos floating around and i thought it was crazy just looking at the thumbnail but i had some time today and i clicked on this one and oh my god these are so satisfying and interesting!!! you guys should do a big episode with various lipsticks from a ton of different brands!!
Transparency is key, Good for you Mr. JS for putting out a quality product. Thank you Ladies, this Break-up was very informative and I'm sure labor intensive. GREAT Job!
I do find this series so satisfying to watch, because it's something I'd never do. I just wish there was more commentating rather than the video with music for minutes at a time
They have other videos where they talk for a long time. But with these videos, people just want to see the destruction. Plus, they're doing a task that they're concentrating on so they probably wouldn't want to talk very much while they're doing it. They say everything they need to say in these videos, so I don't see what the problem is.
That's okay, we had differing opinions, and I was showcasing mine and felt some commenting could be done over the visuals There is "no problem". Quite different actually I watch and enjoy their videos as previously mentioned and decided to voice something on this one as I noticed it more :)
Same but having A job helps. But also them doing it for me lol. Though honestly I'm not sure I would buy huge palletes like this because of the cost compared to how much I would ACTUALLY use.
this may be a silly question , but what does it mean that the dryest one (pink) was the least surplus, and the creamiest or most moist (gold) was the most surplus? Is this due to the formula or this this like a water content that dries out quickly? Sorry if silly again, Im not too knowledgable about life length of make up etc.
tessa k surplus is the amount of extra product you are getting (in grams) than what the product is listed as and it varies between the eyeshadows, most likely because of the different pigments or formulas
Generally products that a more moisture tend to weigh more. The formula of each of these shades are VERY different from dry and powdery to mainly being glitter - which is why they all had different weight and different consistency when broken up and repressed.
thanks courtney, I understood that, just not sure about whether the creaminess is due to water content or general formula, and if this reduces over time or if the shadow remains as creamy.
thanks guys! Just another q - does the creaminess result from water content in the shadows or is this not the cause of the moisture? Also, do you think the creamy shades would become like the dry crumbly ones over time or not so much? thanks!
Jasmine Summer You'd only have to destroy one to get the weight of the empty pan and then subtract that from the full untouched pans. It would keep them from looking all smashed and save them time from repressing it.
Brittanee Brooke I'm assuming the packaging is cardboard, if you did that, you'd destroy the actual palette, even if just one part of it because there's glue. at least this way it still looks somewhat similar to what it was before
Hailey - do you think you'll be doing a follow up on your channel about the performance of the palette before and after repressing? I'm always interested to see how products perform after being pressed differently to how the manufacturer might have intended!
Nope, I'll only revisit the palette when I review Androgyny. The end swatches show that star power doesn't press well but the rest seem to work the same
Pambie White Let me guess. youre a triggered SJW feminazi tumblr emo bitch who dyes their hair weird colors to hide your complicated sexuality and ugly cringe worthy personaility. fuck off.
The before and after swatches were great and it's still just as good! Good to see how much he packs into his pans, the value for money is pretty good. Maybe I'll buy this next time he has a massive sale
I would really like you to do a make up break up video on the Kat Von D shade and light eye contour palette, i love these videos, they are very informative, thank you so much
I can imagine 2 people getting one palette, breaking it up and repressing into 2 smaller palettes. It would work for broke young people.
That's a good idea. I wish I had a friend to do that with :/ lol, my life is sad.
Lel Nope I'd do it with you, but I don't wear makeup. I'm just obsessed with watching makeup gurus.😂😂😂
Hana J Ya good point share the 1 product.
G S R alcohol?! but it will change the formula! and dry it too
Hana J aka me
Id be interested in seeing a kylie cosmetic break up there's some shady shit there
Paige Cello yessss 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
lmao
but yessss please!
Paige Cello i wanna see a chemical analysis of it tho.
Paige Cello Yes I would love if they did the royal peach palette and her liquid lipsticks.
The metallic lipsticks have the most drama so I'd be so down for seeing that

That's exactly what I was thinking. The metallic shades would weigh more because of the ingredients compared to the mattes.
No, I wasn't busy. Let me stop everything for 19 minutes real quick
😂👌

Meagan owen 😂
You should do a series called makeup or fake up where you compare knock offs to the real things
jade selle I don't know if you've heard of him but Nadi from Pop Luxe has a series where he does this :). Pop Luxe is his channel name
I've seen other videos like that but I want to see them do it
jade selle knock offs of make ups are not good and most people don't support it as it's fake toxic stuff from some cheap Asian factory

BEAUTY NEWS do a Kyle lipkit btw love you guys! 😍😍❤❤😘😁
Sabrina Anderson the point of the video, starts at 4:17
No the point of the video starts at 0:00

Dark-Stormy- Sky oh my gosh yessss great suggestions
Dark-Stormy- Sky yes and the alchemist palette!
Oh man the shadow that almost came out whole - so beautiful :')
Before & after swatches 🙌🏼
I was waiting for you to draw a star back on when you were repressing them 😂😂
Jacinda Lacroix same af haha
Fold the piece of paper first, then add the product, that's how we do it in the lab to transfer powders/crystals to dram vials :)
Thanks for the tip
im so happy you did before and after swatches! i love this series so much!!
The other ones are probably magnetic as well just only suck to the Conner ones cause that's where the magnets are.
Abbie Macleod. metallic more likely than magnetic.
YES thankyou
Abbie Macleod the magnets are on the bottom left and right corners that's why they stuck. I wad thinking the same thing
can you guys do the hourglass stick foundation please..

Maybe it’ll dry

Please do the meet matte trimony palette! The pans are so big I've wondered how deep.
Could you see how much product is in an urban decay naked palette?
5 seconds of phandom yes!
5 seconds of phandom THE PHANDOM IS EVERYWHERE
Hey!!!
could u please break up the hudabeauty rose gold edition eyeshadow palette please? I'm curious to see how much product their actually selling us for 65$
I love this series! You guys are getting better and better with each video💕
I like how indifferent you guys are about the person behind it, I know a lot of people have beef and all which gets in the way of a honest review and video. Love you guys ❤️
Does the finish effect the weight? I wonder if metallics weigh differently
Most likely it does, but having a heavier pigment or more moisture would likely make a bigger impact on the weight
do the anastasia creme contour pallet pleaseeeeee.
I love you guys, this is one of my favorite series here on UA-cam keep up the good work 🙂
I am very disappointed in the amount of haters here... you guys are seriously awesome. Just ignore them! They just complain too much and nit-pick,
Love from a toaster.
I think this is such a helpful series and I'm obsessed

Different colours, I filmed a demo the night before and decided since I had 10 shades and 10 fingers it was time for a multi-coloured mani hahaha

Wow, the before and after watched was amazing, crazy to see the difference. I'm sure they still build up the same, but thank you for including that!
Do this to the Sweet Peach Palette and to the Modern Renaissance!
very informative! like the before and after swatches you guys put at the end. Big thumbs up.
My makeup heart is crying.
i love yall sooo much omg i had seen these videos floating around and i thought it was crazy just looking at the thumbnail but i had some time today and i clicked on this one and oh my god these are so satisfying and interesting!!! you guys should do a big episode with various lipsticks from a ton of different brands!!
We are planning on doing a liquid lipstick episode with a few brands, and we have done a colourpop collection x
It would be so awesome if u guys did the kat von d metal matte palette 😄
That palette was limited edition and is no longer available sadly
Transparency is key, Good for you Mr. JS for putting out a quality product. Thank you Ladies, this Break-up was very informative and I'm sure labor intensive. GREAT Job!
I don't really know why I'm here, I think I just have a thing for people destroying expensive makeup. It's aesthetically satisfying
Hailey, love your makeup look sooo much! Absolutely stunning! Are you wearing MAC Club eyeshadow?
Is there any chance to see a tutorial for that look?
U should do a kylie peach palette breakup
I really like your channel because you re-press the stuff you break, it doesnt go to waste, and the weighing thing is really cool
How to: hit pan real quick
What did you use to put the shadows "back together"? Very good video💗😍:)
Isopropyl alcohol
I hate to admit it I really do
but this was satisfying
👌
I watch these videos before bed..they make me feel calm and relaxed 😊
destroy a star light star bright highlighting palette from stila 😍 they're bouncy
Hi Hailey, I was wondering what nail polish you were wearing in this video?
It's so cool!
Its a gel polish with holographic powders buffed into it x
How do you expect to get every bit of product in there when you are making such a mess...?
We are making a mess over a piece of paper which we then pour into the cup. Call it a controlled mess
Does doing this ruin the consistency of the original eye shadow? Or how the eye shadow applies?
She kept saying "yep"😂😂
Yep
BEAUTY NEWS 😂😂💖
I found it very satisfying watching you chopping them up and scooping them out!
SCIENCE !
#SCIENCE!!!
I'd love to see you guys try some Makeup Revolution products if you can get your hands on any. Their palettes are to die for

You should try to put The glittery shadows Into one of those magnetic Mac containers! like if u agree❤
This was brilliant as always ladies - I swear the crushing and repressing is addictive to watch 😂
Hailey those nails!! 😍😍😍

Brittanee Brooke I'm assuming the packaging is cardboard, if you did that, you'd destroy the actual palette, even if just one part of it because there's glue. at least this way it still looks somewhat similar to what it was before
Brittanee Brooke breaking them up tells you a lot about the quality of the ingredients.
Hailey - do you think you'll be doing a follow up on your channel about the performance of the palette before and after repressing? I'm always interested to see how products perform after being pressed differently to how the manufacturer might have intended!
Nope, I'll only revisit the palette when I review Androgyny. The end swatches show that star power doesn't press well but the rest seem to work the same
I LOVEEEE THIS EYESHADOW PALLETE ESPECIALLY THE RICH BITCH COLOR
i find braking the eyeshadows so satisfying to watch. it's like the thing every one using makeup would die to do.
What is this video for
It's explained in the video :)
Y'all are the best! Can't wait to see what you do next!!! Love this!
Should have left it destroyed. Lmao.
ouch someones triggered
Queen Kit Kat Yeah, looks like you are, sweetie. 👌😊
Pambie White youre so triggered you have to try and turn the tables lmao pathetic
Queen Kit Kat You are stupid. Lol.
Logic?
To see if you get what you pay for... logical to me!
What color eyeshadow is Hailey wearing?! I love it!!
Awe how could you destroy that beautiful palette
Sheila Folan Guess you could say that they are the Beauty Killers... Ill let myself out
wow.. how did you repress it so nicely? will you make vid of it too? please?
I'd like to see you make eyeshadow me and make them perfect
We are weighing a palette. This is no way a review or critique of the eyeshadows
