Fun weekend with the lads! Hearing that bird gobble its way from the bottom of the valley to 35 yards was insane! Glad I was able to make the journey from UNC🤙
That was some great footage of that bird coming in, with him turning his head looking and all. You called that bird in from a loooong way off, Roy. Not sure what happened with Eli missing. Perhaps the wire-tied sight had something to do with it. But it is what it is. We've all missed and will miss again, unfortunately. On to the next one!
I was trying to get my friend a bird opening day and had pretty much the same thing happen. It really hurt because it was four long beards that came in but he shot at 45 yds and I did tell him no. Sometimes those moments just get so intense it's easy to make mistakes.
Great video! My 2 cents and take it for what its worth just an old 11b1p that likes to skip in woods after animals. The furtherest turkey I have taken is 65yards and another at 45yds on camera. You held the shotgun where the butt stock was above your shoulder, the only purchase was the very bottom. You need to wrap your upper body around the firearm properly, especially if your shooting a bead sight with high brass, this goes for any long gun shooting from a seated position even shooting on a bench. The more body mass around a firearm the more control you have. Improper butt stock placement will also cause a semi automatic to not feed properly, not sure if that was what your using but there was a feed problem after the shot. Pull the butt stock into your shoulder to ensure you feel the entire plate against you, drop your cheek down into position, practice this a repeat so you know how it is suppose to feel even with your eyes shut. Get rid of the habit to raise the shot gun up to your cheek. Proper placement when fired will allowing for faster follow up shots by properly absorbing the recoil. You will also be more like a solid rock shape then a guy seating in the woods because no light passing through gaps, thats how they bust you, be compact. The same goes for shooting pistols with a 2 handed grip, no space allowing for total control of recoil, how get faster with proper trigger control. I paused the frame at the shot and nothing around the bird was disturbed, which means since the butt stock was so high you shot way low. When patterning your shotgun for turkey season shoot how you hunt not how you target shoot, the misses you see are caused from hunters not practicing hunting shots but shooting from a bench thinking it is the same. Other option is get a holographic red dot then is doesn't matter but still have feed issues and not follow up shot. We all start somewhere. I run a red dot one shotgun and tru glo rifle turkey sights on my backup, tss with a .660 choke, they are both 50+ yard turkey guns. The large orange bead with my old eyes wasn't accurate enough, inch difference in cheek make a huge difference at 30 yards..
@@OutdoorOutlawsNC yeah I know they did. Spot where I hunt been people from wayyyyy off but I understand it. Just sucks we don’t have it to ourselves anymore
100% been there. I’ve made it a point to be more patient in all hunting recently. Thanks for sharing the highs and the lows!
Head not down on the gun and a zip tie bead on the front ... OMG

Was glad you made it for that one too brother!
Well not the ending you want when a bird has the potential of climbing up your leg. Nice video! 🤟🏼
Definitely not but gotta laugh to keep from crying

Thanks Britt! Yeah I believe it might’ve been his sight 😂
They always look closer than they appear but awesome hunt and great video him coming down the path goobling and strutting
Yeah that’s for sure. It was beautiful to watch him come down that road
WV has been tough so far this year! Heavy gobbling on the roost but pretty quiet after that. The mountains are tough for sure! Great Vid!
Thank you sir! Sorry to hear it’s been tough! Keep at it bc it’ll be gone before ya know it

Yeah it’s very easy to make a mistake with all that adrenaline going
It happens, great hunt and video
It sure does. I missed one in New Hampshire yesterday
Got mine this morning Curl. I missed on Friday. I know how Eli fee
Yup. Everybody’s gonna miss. Just a part of it sometimes. But congrats on your bird!
Have to ask….what kind of sight was that on the barrel tip ? Looked liked it was tied on, and off center.
@@georgeripley5280 sure was lol. That’s what we attributed the miss to
@@curlhunts ….good luck next time !

Dang that was a heart breaker , but it happens.
Won’t be the last time! A fun hunt nonetheless!
Time to get that sight issue fixed, you only get so many chances. Make sure your firearm is ready.
Yes I believe that’s why he missed 😂
Awesome vid though!
Thanks brother!
What happen To the cam lol
Flinched on the shot. Wasn’t expecting him to shoot so early
Hard to hide 5 guys
It is! But he never saw us so we did alright
RIP to the times nobody hunted the NC mountains.
Thp came like 2 years ago. Not as bad as you think. I have way more people on much smaller pieces in thr central part of the state

@@southernexposureoutdoors6308 saw more people from FL in the mtns this year than NC lol
Instead of spending money on a first lite cap should have spent it on an optic for that gun… rookie mistake
What is this guy doing. That was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen
Lot of work for nothing.
It ain’t work if you’re having fun!
Got his bead zip tied to his barrel but can't believe he missed...
Yeah I think we attributed it to that 😂
@@curlhunts lol I have never seen that before
